  1. ^It would seem then that Cleveland is getting less bang-for-it's-buck with the current two convention center setup. People can drive in and then drive out of the IX Center, with no restaurants, bars, places to shop, places to visit nearby, thereby spending less and putting less money into the local economy. If those same shows were downtown, then the money added to the local economy would be greater than the measured $111 million the article mentioned. Seems as though this should be a conversation which should be happening. As a side note, I believe MyTwoSense (wherever he is) mentioned that shows like the Autoshow sign long-term contracts with the convention centers they actually do their conventions in. The Autoshow- with as many people as it draws every year (and the potential money those people could put into the local economy instead of just driving home)- may not be coming back downtown any time soon.
  2. Glass being installed on the Ontario side... taken today: Floors now rising as well:
  3. ^I don't know... this image shows slits where metal beams could be installed for the canopy...
  4. ^You can upload to a site such as photobucket.com and then paste the image link to this site. I'm anxious to see the demo from above, and welcome!
  5. Updates from this morning:
  6. "Homeowners don't tend to move casually" Tell that to 1970s Cleveland, which lost 3 households a day the entire decade for a multitude of reasons. I'm encouraged by the numbers for Central, which I wouldn't have expected. Central was one of the neighborhoods during the 2010 census which actually grew in population as well. There is a ton of newer construction in the neighborhood, including for sale housing. For what the neighborhood has been through in the previous decades, it may have finally turned a corner. And if Central can, the same may be true for other perpetually struggling neighborhoods in the city.

  11. Ontario side, 13th floor of the JC- taken today...
  12. No prob- I wonder how much the coldest February on record slowed down the project, if at all. I've been watching, and even on some of the coldest days we've had, I've seen work being done. We're also getting close to a point where they'll have to jump the crane. The elevator shafts are almost level with the 13th floor of the JC, and there isn't much more room for the crane to play with.
  13. From this morning... looks like glass is being installed on the Lakeside front...

Definitely voting no the way this is written. We're giving monopolies to folks to grow marijuana? I'll sit out this round, and hope someone comes with something better.
  15. I was thinking along the same lines the other day. The Browns have sucked save for two seasons my ENTIRE ADULT LIFE. I can't take this team seriously anymore- and I'm Pro-Cleveland everything.
  16. Photo updates from yesterday and this morning...

I'm loving Timo- what a difference this last trade has been for this team! Having a good center on the court has made a major impact on the floor, and it was refreshing to watch Timo grab rebounds, block, and play great defense during yesterday's game.
  18. Fair enough. But it's not the same color as the renderings! I kid, I kid. Thank you for your work giving us some different views on what we can expect from the project!
  19. Maybe the school can install some type of banner over the wall, or a large screen in the future... other than that, yeah, it's not the best new build on the street.
  20. Am I the only one who doesn't necessarily have a problem with the graffiti along the Red Line? The trash- sure, that needs to be cleaned up. But the graffiti- I'm not wholly against. It just doesn't send a negative message to me. Graffiti has been on walls of cities since ancient times- and some of the graffiti along the route isn't that bad from an artistic standpoint, IMO. I just don't get the feeling that I'm entering a negative or unsafe area due to the graffiti along the Line.
  21. Went by the new construction on Euclid while I was at CSU yesterday... looks like the building is almost completed.

^Great add for the plaza- I just hope the addition of Chipotle doesn't cannibalize one of the other eats close by... Chili Peppers on E. 185th (better than Chipotle IMO- everything Chipotle has along with more. The owner, Steve, is a great guy as well)
  23. Was out last nite and took this, I love our old TT! Im in need of a real camera though...
  24. ^I remember Richmond Mall being rehabbed somewhere between '98-'00, after Kaufman's left Euclid for Richmond. Before that I remember the mall being kind if dingy, and I didn't go there much when I was younger. Personally, I don't think the mall looks half bad today- the issue with some may be the shifting demographics.
  25. I missed the earlier comments- yep, I was referring to the concrete in the corner. Looks like more has been put in place; taken today...
