Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I feel the same way regarding the 2nd tower. I feel like SHW1 is a nice addition, though I will admit that I was hoping for a tower that was taller than Key Bank initially when the leaks started coming out about SHW's intentions on building a new headquarters. It adds depth to the skyline even when coming in from the east. For those who haven't yet done so, take a ride down Superior towards downtown. I have yet to take a photo from the street (I'll dodge traffic just to get the best angle 😆) but downtown looks great with the new addition. From the Shoreway heading into downtown from the east, around E. 55th St. you'll begin to see a new depth in downtown that didn't exist before. I've come to realize that in my view downtown will never truly feel "complete". I'll always want to see something new- either big or small to add both density and people. So I like what the tower adds, but I'll never be satisfied 😄

^There would be a couple huge hoops to jump through… so likely not. The casino locations were literally written into the constitutional amendment; a change would require another constitutional amendment since the Ohio House and Senate would likely never pass any legislation allowing for another location in Cleveland. And even in another dimension where they actually would, DeWine would have to sign it.

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
Glenville has lost much of its streetwall along both St. Clair and Superior. I’m hoping that with the infill comes renewed interest in developing on the vacant lots taking up large swaths of land along both thoroughfares. We may be 5-10 years away from that happening though, realistically. The city just has to do its part in holding the building owners responsible for the upkeep.

Cleveland: Population Trends
City statistics I saw a few years ago predicted 2024-2025 as the breakthrough years for population loss. There's much to be done regarding the removal of housing stock beyond repair along with the cleaning of brownfields. However it's good to know the city has no where to go but up from this point on.

I would say tall buildings aren’t “needed”, but are definitely more fun to look at vs. projects which are shorter but still add a good amount of housing units. Cleveland at its peak population didn’t have many buildings we would consider to be “tall”. And that’s my point: the colors may not be the best, but the layout is great and honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the taller version. Give me this streetscape any day, which ironically is what many of Cleveland’s major intersections looked like in the past. This is close to the Hamilton Hotel in D.C. just as an example- which now has 2x our population in the city center without the tall buildings. Instead, you will see great walkable streets hemmed in by a solid street wall all around, without the missing teeth.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
We were all spoiled by the height and look of the 2nd rendition of the project, which would have happened if it were awarded the TMUD. I'll admit, however, that wasn't much of a fan of this particular design myself. It would've been different, that's for sure. Regardless of the design, I'm still more of a fan of the layout the current iteration of the project vs. what we would have gotten.

I just thought about comparing the propoosal to Waterford Bluffs a little bit down W. 25th as I thought the overall layout was a bit similar to this. I don't think anything is wrong with the layout and placement along the Detroit-Superior bridge- in fact I think the layout for this is pretty well done in regards to how it will feel to pedestrians walking by. Of course the colors chosen aren't the best but it may not look as bad as we're making it out to be once it's finished.

Again, a retractable roof was planned as an addition to the lakefront stadium in the past. I don’t recall any story that came out saying it couldn’t be done, This was by our own @KJP: Cleveland Browns: Is the Owner-in-Waiting Trying to Put a Lid on City Officials? KEN PRENDERGAST SEPTEMBER 19, 2012 Northeast Ohio sports fans are abuzz after prospective Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III said he would bring in three prominent stadium architectural firms to suggest changes to the city-owned lakefront stadium. He said changes could include putting a roof on the 13-year-old, open-air facility. But did Haslam suggest the roof to put a lid on any push-back from some city officials who have long wanted a covered stadium? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1340833-cleveland-browns-is-the-owner-in-waiting-trying-to-put-a-lid-on-city-officials

They better get moving then... with everything already on site they could easily transition to building the 2nd tower. Hopefully plans get submitted soon.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News

^Hoping for some 5-10 story buildings vs. taller along Chester/Payne, which funny enough would likely be a throwback to the past before all of the parking lots popped up.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Legitimately a cool-looking city center. Not that it wasn't before, but it definitely is now! And about damn time.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters

We all should calm down a sec… it’s the Mayor’s administration that is negotiating with Haslem, not City Council (hence why the Modell law was even brought up… that’s politics. City Council members have probably been getting questions from their constituents just as the Mayor’s office has, and decided to show they were doing “something” about the Browns staying on the lakefront).- Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I would be more than surprised if this gets built without any taxpayer dollars. New-build stadiums cost a ton and always require some type of public funding to work. 1) Buffalo Bills- $850 million in public funding in 2022. 2) Tennessee Titans- $1.2 billion in public funding in 2023. 3) Las Vegas- $750 million in public funding in 2016. 4) Jacksonville- seeking 50/50 split ($1.4 billion) in 2023. 5) Baltimore- $430 million in public funding for their renovation in 2023. 6) Atlanta- $700 million in public funding in 2014. 7) Cleveland- $0 in public funding??? The trend has been in the opposite direction for a long time and it's only getting more expensive to build a stadium. - Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
