Cleveland: Can MGK help change the perception for young people?
Um... Yeah, Bad Boy seems to not be the best label to sign to. Maybe this is the beginning of a change with Bad Boy, but if Bad Boy's history repeats itself (again), MGK might release 2 albums then fall off the face of the planet as a performer.

USPS - Post Office Locations Potentially Closing in Ohio
Euclid has another post office close to E. 250th and the marginal. I'm assuming that the one in North Collinwood (44110) would be the one on E. 185th... I'm hoping that that particular post office stays. Though the street still has a decent amount of businesses, the area has seen enough losses.

Cleveland Birds-Eye Map - 1887
Amazing how much detail is in that picture. Outstanding find!

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Amazing that even more demolitions would need to occur- with the amount of land which has ALREADY been cleared in the corridor. Take a trip through there if you can- you'll feel like you're in the country when you're actually near the center of the city.

He of all people cast the lone vote? From everything I've heard from residents in his ward, I thought he was.... never mind.

Ohio's Decayed Cities - CLEVELAND'S HOUGH (lots of text and pics)
^I doubt those apartments will stay up for long. I know residents in that cul-de-sac which used to be Little Hollywood who want those apartments torn down. To be serious, I can't blame them- at least one of those houses in that area is valued at more than $1 million and that part of Hough's history is long gone (for better or for worse). Shows how much the neighborhood has changed... though there's a dichotomy of sorts between the "old" (mostly north of Hough Ave.) and "new" (south of Hough Ave.) Hough among the residents.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
The Waterloo Arts Fest was GREAT! There were a lot more vendors and tables set up along the street this year, with multiple musicians playing up and down the street. It really was great to see all the people enjoying the street as well.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
^I think the damage is already done. There's no way that Euclid will live up to its potential in our lifetimes. We won't see a true mixed use neighborhood arise from the ashes in midtown. It seems as though that was not what the plan for the area was, though the infrastructure in place would under normal circumstances call for a different type of development. As far as midtown is concerned, that ship has already sailed. And we are definitely close to being filled in without the demo of some of the older structures on the street.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
I love it- and I think it can be a source of pride for Euclid. The city has been getting a bad rep because of its growing "diversity"- I think its developments like these which could help change that perception.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
We should know that harming the facade of the Higbee building will be a no-go with the planning commission. I think that's a given. As far as the Columbia building is concerned... I don't know if we can count on them to keep it standing. Time to start emailing...

On top of it being 46 degrees for the majority of this month- this has to be one of the crappiest Aprils we have ever had.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I really wish these elected leaders would quit making it seem like every tax-payer funded project is a Silver Bullet. I don't think there's a question that this is a vital piece of what Cleveland needs economically, and will do great in the rebranding of Cleveland's tarnished image. But Silver Bullet? I don't think so.

Ohio Gambling News
^I don't think the executive branch of the government has the power to do so. Everything would need to be put to a vote by the people. Heck, didn't the location change for the Columbus casino take a vote by the people to change the amendment?

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Awesome! Beachwood, UH, SH, and to a lesser degree SE all coming together to fund a SWAT team that will be mostly used in Euclid. Now why couldn't we get East Cleveland on board the gravy train, too? Could you elaborate on the SWAT team being used mostly in Euclid? Have statistics as to the amount of need for a SWAT team to be used mostly in Euclid, or is this possibly linked to some other "issue"?

2010 US Census: Results
Can't say I'm too surprised. Wall Street f#cked this country... and we're still dealing with it. The cities that built this country have taken the brunt of the losses experienced this census.

Cleveland 2050
^I agree. I want to move back to the city and the school system is a major hurdle since I have a 5-year-old... who will be entering school in the fall. In fact, it's the main impediment. At this point, a family with kids has little choice but to send their child to a private school... and I'm not one who would want to foot the extra bill. I know I'm not alone on this... I'm sure there's a great number of families who would like to do the same, but can't.
