Cuyahoga County: Corruption Probe
Now if the other one could just do the same... probably won't happen though.

2009 Population Estimates for Ohio Cities over 50,000
Not really... the City of Toledo only takes up 80.6 square miles- I wouldn't call it Columbus-esque until we multiply that number by around 3.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
And the PD once again puts a negative slant on a positive story... Greater Cleveland is a great place to find a job -- really Published: Thursday, September 02, 2010, 4:18 PM Updated: Thursday, September 02, 2010, 6:35 PM Plain Dealer business staff Plain Dealer business staff Never mind all that talk about people out of work. Greater Cleveland is a great place to find a job, two websites contend. That's right. We finally rate high in a survey, and it's not about our waistlines. Juju, a job-search site, lists Cleveland as the 14th-best place to look for work among 50 major cities. Careercast, a similar site, places Cleveland at No. 9 of 30. Cleveland: North Collinwood / Waterloo Arts District: Development and News
^I'm glad that it is finally getting built! It took a while to write that grant which was funded by the CAC!! If the Waterloo Streetscape Plan is fully realized, we should see more placemaking elements like the one mentioned in different sections of the district. WHOHOO!!

Cleveland & Akron Inter-City Relations
DAMMIT can we stop with the Cleveland/Cincinnati regional population comparisons?!! In reality- who really cares and why does it really matter? Just for "boasting rights", in a STATE which will be declining in population in five years according to the Census bureau which everyone here relies on for statistics for their region, right? Let's just let it go... But to get back on topic- there might be somewhat of a divide which hasn't been, and would be worthless to find statistically between the two. This whole "divide" wasn't really brought up until a certain loved/hated person brought his own (worthless) personal notions regarding Cleveland to light during a recent magazine interview. There might be somewhat of a divide in what urban center the populations mostly connect with, but not much else. As for this said person's own opinion, well... that's just his opinion (as if it really makes a difference). There is no hate towards Cleveland from Akronites- maybe rivalries that local youths have, but again not much else. Also, let's not act as if other regions don't have the same divides (Minneapolis/St Paul, Baltimore/D.C., etc) regarding where the population feels connected to the most based on location in the region I would assume that the youth in these other areas might perpetuate the same "divide" as was mentioned by the certain said person, but in reality it doesn't make a difference IMO. Akron and Cleveland will be connected till the end, same as other regions.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
^What will be great to see is the potential spin-off developments from these projects. We've heard of a number of hotel plans come up because of the Medical Mart/Convention Center. The East Bank project is going to have a nice effect on the western end of downtown- maybe some of the lots up the hill on W. 9th will become more desirable to build on when the credit market thaws. I'm wondering what type of spin-off, if any, will be caused by "Phase 1" of the casino being on Euclid Ave.? I guess we'll see- as this will end up being one hell of a connection (East Bank, WHD, TC, Casino, Convention Center/MM, Progressive Field, The Q, Playhouse Square, CSU). One project the editorial forgot to mention was the land which is to be developed on port land next to the Browns stadium- from my understanding... that project has a good chance of coming to fruition.

Mobsters also blew up his home on Waterloo- I'll go by and take a pic of the "KABOOM" mural on the side of the former Shoparooni building which faces where Greene's home used to be.

Akron Northside-CVSR station area
The extra thousands which could possibly enter Tower City wouldn't hurt I'm sure. I wonder if Forest City would back this? It would seem like a no-brainer to get more people into the stores. If the line were actually extended, I would find it hard to believe that we won't see the Scranton Peninsula redeveloped within the next few years- I mean come on... a casino along with the CVSR being extended to Tower City? Talk about connectivity.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Thanks Steve Litt- you said it best for all of us. Proposals for I-90 bridge in Cleveland are predictably dull Published: Saturday, August 07, 2010, 12:09 AM Updated: Saturday, August 07, 2010, 7:33 AM Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer Cities from Rotterdam in the Netherlands to San Francisco are famous for spectacular bridges that function as hardworking pieces of infrastructure and as dramatic works of structural art. Cleveland won't gain admission to this elite urban club with any of the three proposals for the new westbound I-90 bridge over the Cuyahoga River released Friday by the Ohio Department of Transportation. After spending 10 years and more than $13.5 million in consultant fees, ODOT has come up with several profoundly ho-hum options for one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the state's history. No one will make a fortune selling postcards of the winner, no matter which one gets built. More at: http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2010/08/odot_bridge_designs_mediocre.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I really like the unified entry format! The master plan for the Mall (on page 26) will be great if ever fully realized. We got it right with this location! This is a great plan and should finally get more people to enjoy the Mall as a great urban space.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Uh.... yeah... he's officially not getting my vote.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
A very simple design that can actually work, IMO. I'm sure that this will change with the New Group Plan Commission coming into fruition.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Thoughts on the LeQueen letter to the fans in Akron? He still couldn't show any love towards the city that treated him like royalty for the last 7 years. Another slap in the face if you ask me. But what goes around... REALLY goes around.

Cleveland: Leveraging Citywide LED Contract for Economic Development
If the legislation only required that the winning bidder build a factory which employs 300 workers, instead of saying the company MUST move it's headquarters, I think we would have less drama. However, it appears that this deal is no different, and leaves one of the region's greatest companies out of the picture.
