  1. As much as I would have liked to see Cle do better with these statistics, I don't know if adding Akron would be of much help. We can't forget that the metro area lost over 80,000 jobs during the 2001 recession, mostly in manufacturing, while in the 90s we gained 100,000 jobs. I would have to say that Cleveland would have taken a hit either way, if Akron was included or not. I believe that this region has turned a corner since the 2001 recession, and that future statistics will show this. It would seem that Pittsburgh is doing rather well- without another mid-sized metro to lean on statistically, no less.
  2. Good to see that this is moving forward.
  3. Talk about a GREAT looking facade! With a Healthline stop right in front! Great stuff. We need more of this type of redevelopment to happen.
  4. I think that the energy which is brought here by those from India and other places can help with the formation of an Indian neighborhood on the edge of CSU. Of course this will be over time, but I wouldn't be surprised to see more people from India move into this section of downtown. Word of mouth is the best form of promotion for the city, and as long as these students keep coming to Cleveland State, I would expect greater interest in this section of downtown to those from India. We might see more than just college students move to this section of downtown- with the students telling those back home how great the city is, more individuals and families could be drawn to the city. This may help change the local perception of Cleveland as well, with the addition of more Indian services within the city. The influx of Indian students was something I noticed these past couple of semesters at CSU. This article just goes to show how important CSU is to the current and future growth of downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. All in all, this is great for the city.

  8. ^What did you send them? I'm putting something together right now.
  9. I'm a fan of the mound concept. Rockitect- thanks for your input!
  10. Some of my favorite bridges in the city!
  11. ^I would guess the same. This has been a mess for a while now.
  12. I can't blame him for wanting to make money on land which he owns. But dammit...
  13. ^I wonder if K&D and Frangos had beef prior to the deal? How is it that Frangos wouldn't benefit from the building being renovated?
  14. Yeah, that building fully rehabbed will be bad ass. I can't wait to see this one completed!
  15. ^I believe the asking price was $17 million (I could be wrong though). And again, when property is required for a project to happen, the price the property is worth inflates greatly.
  16. ^^Yep! http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2009/121809/index.php#gallery
  17. Good stuff! Keep em coming in!

  19. Hence my use of "apparent"... and I agree 100%.
  20. I don't know if it is time to be frustrated by the apparent lack of progress as of yet... but it's frustrating.
  21. That's pretty darn good, better than what I thought. I guess that shows that there is indeed a market for higher end housing downtown.
  22. The writer of the article just had to stick "rust-belt city" in there, huh? People just won't let that die. Great news overall, however. I'm glad to see that this town is experiencing some job growth with all of the additions we will see within the next year.
