CLEVELAND- Welcome to North Shores Collinwood!!
Last night, there was a sneak peek at the Waterloo Arts Fest, which will be held on Saturday. For those who won't be able to make it, here is part of what will be going on... We begin at Arts Collinwood, and view the great collection of art offered there... Next, we go across the street to Visions Gallery. They had a great collection... I love this one Next, we head on over to Music Saves and browse their music collection... Next, we head over to North Collinwood's own Shoparooni... They have a great sign!! On to Jerry Schmidt's gallery... I love this one! On to the Beachland Ballroom for a live show and some drinks, when my camera ran out of power!! Good night, from North Shores Collinwood!!!

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Not including property acquisition, as in leaving part of the price out to make ONE of the sites look better than it is? Huh...

I love it!! I'll say it- we've known that Dimora and Hagen were crooks for a while. We'll see what comes of all of this...

Think I could get this zoned and build some great lofts/apts/condos?
You might want to talk to the councilman/woman of that neighborhood for any type of zoning variance. He or she could help out.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Nice pics, Mayday. I love how this project is coming along!! Let's hope Zaremba gets enough presales for the future phases. I can't wait to see the full reality of the project.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I spoke too soon... it got deleted. Unbelievable. Here's part of what I typed this morning, The mall site has better access for trucks, more land for expansion, and more hotel rooms within a close vicinity. Why this paper keeps pushing the Tower City site is beyond me. The mall site is statistically superior to Tower City (and don't give me the "Tower City has the Rapid which a conventioner could take from the airport", as the mall site has the Waterfront Line. If a conventioner takes the train from the airport to Tower City, then jumps on the Waterfront Line, they'll go around the newly built EAST BANK by the time construction of the new convention center is completed. That will make a great impression on a person from out of town who doesn't get bombarded by negative news about Cleveland like us locals). If, and that's IF, Forest City were to develop the Scranton Peninsula behind Tower City (which they originally proposed, then pulled back when the city was first discussing building a new convention center with then Mayor Jane Campbell), then the Tower City site would be a shoe-in. However, that is not the case; Forest City will not build on the peninsula, and conventioners will look over a barren patch of land as they look over the river.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I finally got my comments posted on cleveland.dumb (I LOVE THAT!!), which routinely has not posted comments which are in support of the opposition (i.e. the mall site). My first attempt at posting a comment yesterday didn't make it to the site. We'll see if it gets deleted, though. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Excellent news!! This is one that I've been waiting for personally, as University Circle is so important to the region. I love it!! I just hate that the paper, even in a news story that is so positive for the city, must throw in the usual quips at C-town. http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/07/view02.jpg http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/07/view01.jpg http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/07/Uard.jpg

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Here's something I believe our great piece of journalism newspaper forgot to mention since the beginning of this fiasco- have the plans for the mall site EVER changed, and who is developing it? Forest city's plans have changed many times since the announcement of the convention center, in part (I believe), because they know that they have the inferior site between the two. But what of the mall site? Any new updates on that site?

Cleveland: Population Trends
The silver lining, in my opinion, to the news that our regional count is declining is the fact that with the fall of Cleveland, so goes the rest of the region. I mean here it is, in the numbers folks. It would be great if the PD could push this agenda to make the local public further realize that we are all in it together. How much of a loss do we have to take in order for people to get it? I know I went off topic, but I felt it went hand-in-hand with the discussion.

Cleveland: Population Trends
^Good points. It should be pointed out that as of last year, Greater Cleveland's economy is no longer based on manufacturing, but on the medical sector (which can be attributed to the amount of manufacturing jobs lost during the last recession).

Cleveland: Population Trends
Here we go... this is not something I want our city to "lead" in... Cleveland leads big cities in population loss, census figures show By Alana Munro July 10, 2008, 5:38AM As civic leaders try to spark a Cleveland renaissance by attracting businesses and residents downtown, they face a challenge convincing the hometown folks of the city's prospects. More people left Cleveland last year than any other major city in America, the U.S. Census Bureau will report today. Since 2000, only hurricane-ravaged New Orleans weathered a sharper rate of population loss. Cleveland's descent slowed last year and the numerical loss -- about 5,000 people between July 2006 and July 2007 -- compares favorably to the 1970s, when the city at times hemorrhaged 15,000 people a year. But the rate of decline remains alarming for America's 40th-largest city, which has dipped to an estimated 438,042 people, and the neighbors are not faring so well, either... Cleveland: Industry, Steel Mills, and More
According to the Flats Oxbow Association, the Mittal Steel plant in Cleveland is one of the most productive plants in North America, due in large part to the proximity to the lake and the river (just to add my two cents:) Great pics!! I love the first photo shot through the fence with the dramatic sunset!!

Married or Single?
I'm the same as you! Engaged to be engaged to be married :) Long-term, me and my girlfriend have been together 6 years this past May. I am planning on asking her to marry me very soon. I'm is the same boat as you two, as that was our original plan (I'm working on my MUPDD degree at the College of Urban Affairs, and she is working on her Civil Engineering degree in the Fenn College).
