  1. mayday, how exactly will you be saluting key? Also, taylor was seemingly an administration building, and amazingly ugly at that.....
  2. if the NFL were ever to lift its cold weather ban you know the first two cities to host it would be chicago and NYC, then the other northern cities would get in line behind it (cincy, cleveland, pittsburg, seattle, denver, nashville, and the other with relatively new stadia)
  3. ^just remember 17,500 rooms, i think nfl does 30 or 45 mile radius.
  4. neither cincy nor cleveland have a clear cut advantage over eachother......

oh god i hate that one too. After living in DC for a bit, I came back to campus, and fudged that one up about a hundred times and was honked at mercilessly
  8. ^i'm afraid you've lost me
  9. ^that is one of the most noteable differences of field turf, no more turf burn!

we have more than three traffic cirlces? (that seems all i can think of, and only one is in the near east side (fairmount))
  11. and field turf is a million times better than old school astro-turf, having played extensively on both.
  12. i didn't say your stadiums weren't new, i'm just saying that's the easiest way to get a game assuming you meet the other requirements (or a dome). Hell kansas city has been rewarded the superbowl in like 2009, if they have their dome up by then.
  13. three key requirements. Average temps (not average highs) in January/February must be 40 degrees or higher. Or some arbritrary number that ohio could never meet. Number of hotel rooms in the area, NFL minimum 17,500. Jacksonville was short, so they brough in floating hotels, i.e. cruiseships. (i'm assuming cin/cle would be fine on this one) New stadium: the nfl oligarchy likes to rewards holding cities hostages for new stadiums by giving them superbowls (i.e.: jacksonville, houston, detroit) (the numbers probably aren't exactly right, but you get the idea, and i'm too lazy to look that indepth)
  14. don't forget that the healthspace was responsible for the most recent demolition of a millionaires row mansion
  15. yes, but do you know his real name?

well i guess i can write my poorly punctuated response now. First off, I've lived in cleveland for over six years now, all completely on the east side (university, buckeye-shaker & cleveland heights). I can say that I definately have enjoyed my time here, so i'm a little biased to stay over here. However, if i were forced to move to the west side i would (like many others) instantly pick the usual responses of edgewater, lakewood, ohio city and tremont, and i could be perfectly happy. As much as i like to try and hang out and give some love to my west side friends, its just such a pain to get across town (a half hour anywhere is too far for me, yes i'm lazy) So until i move, i'll continue my semi-boycott of the west side.
  17. geez i move out of the square, and look what happens. While i lived there: Joseph-beth and the gap both closed under my watch. And the only open for a month cocorian art gallery/antique place

so that explains the weird tower by itself........ per the cleveland encyclopedia: ST. AGNES CHURCH (ded. 1916) was demolished in 1975, St. Agnes Catholic Church at Euclid and E. 81st., ca. 1940. Cleveland Press Collection, CSU Archives. ( 159 Kbytes ) except for the 130' high bell tower on the church property located at 8000 Euclid Ave. An upper-middle-class parish with many Irish communicants, St. Agnes was noted for its modernized romanesque-style architecture. Designed by architect John T. Comes, the oblong church was built of Bedford stone with a facade featuring three round carved arches with deeply recessed doors in the entryway and a large rose window above. Faced with extensive repairs and a dwindling congregation, in a controversial decision the diocese had the church demolished in Nov. 1975. Many artifacts from St. Agnes were incorporated into the decor of the Greenhouse Restaurant on Adelbert and Murray Hill roads. http://ech.cwru.edu/ech-cgi/article.pl?id=SAC --------------- funny thing is, the greenhouse has been closed as a restaurant for seven years

Just a note: Keep it mature discussion here. We don't promote city vs. city threads here. But a discussion of the differences would be welcomed.
  20. Is this one intended to replace the soon relocated Thwing center? I for some reason thought B&Noble ran the Thwing one anywya.....

yeah, i figured i could have done it, but then figured i'd be the only warren voter. Then everyone who voted "other city" would whine and cry. also i know its early, but detroit is beating dayton and cbus combined, ha!
  22. still my point is, that there already is a seeminlgy adequate cvs a 40 second walk from the square.
  23. maybe i'm missing something, so the square will get an oversized CVS, to replace the moderately sized one they already have?
  24. the pope replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
detroit; cleveland; mansfield; and warren should have its own option, but its not really a big deal...

does anyone have pictures of the old state penitentary in columbus, or the mental hospital?
