Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Back in the 60's a wise man who knew what was best for New York better than anybody else wanted to build the cross-Manhattan expressway. But there was this little old lady named Jane Jacobs, who knew nothing, and a few of her neighbors (who also knew nothing) said NO. Today, the cast iron district and SOHO exist. Here in Cleveland, a county engineer named Albert Porter, wanted to build a feeway through a two-bit duck pond, but some people with contrasting opinions said "think about what you're doing". Today we still have the Shaker Lakes. Don't think for a minute that you have to settle for crap. Neither Wolstein or Eaton want crap either, but enough noise from people with a different opinion CAN make a difference. Remember, nobody objected when we build railroads on our lakefront, and that is OUR legacy! Don't think for a minute that we shouldn't critique, it's a healthy necessary process to getting what we want. I'm having a hard time connecting similarities between the shaker lakes highway/lower manhattan expressway and FEB.

also per the PDF, Item 8: Is "hing-end" some term I've never heard before, or does the PD/Forum Architects need an editor?

I think its funny how they specify "20 Story Class A Office Building". I don't know much, but I assume no one aspires to build Class B/C.

Toledo-Fremont? I know there's a reason behind the naming, just seems a funny combo. Sktryker-Bryan Anyone?- Midwest Metro Population Growth in 2007
The map is straight from the Census' data. It was in the form of a pdf when I downloaded it and I just cropped it down and made it a jpg. Do you a link for the original file? I'm curious for other cities and I'm a bafoon on the census website.- Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"

Easy there tiger, I wasn't saying you can't air your opinion. I was saying I would like to see this thread remain on topic. Based on the few responses to your posit, it looked as if the thread was going to meander off into the smoking vs. anti-smoking debate. FYI, This forum is not a democracy.- Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Exactly. This basically tells smokers that they can not go to E4th street... An outrageous suggestion and a completely unnecessary policy. Everyone tread carefully, we've discussed smoking non-smoking before on the website, I'd prefer to keep the general smoking vs. non-smoking argument here- Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
