  2. Someone needs to inform the KPMG team ,that to be fair,they should also estimate the ROI for the next 30 years!
  3. Is Cranley also against the proposed Oasis light- rail project, and does this project support or conflict with the streetcar project?

The following is an e-mail I sent to certain members of Council: DearSir First, I want you to know that I do not live in Cincinnati (Miamisburg, Ohio), but I love the city very much, and visit as often as I can. (and spend $). I know that you are an honest and thoughtful city council member, and I would offer some ideas for you to consider, so that you might change your mind about cancelling the streetcar program. • The estimated ROI is base on the first phase of the project and does not depend on building the uptown connector. Even if yearly costs to operate the streetcar wind up to be several millions of dollars (not considering possible ways of reducing yearly costs by advertising, a small fee to ride the bus, etc.) there will still remain reasonable, though smaller ROI. Property values along the route will increase, resulting in the city obtaining new revenue. • Cancelling the streetcar will cost the city millions of dollars with nothing to show for it. • IF the streetcar is cancelled and already-laid track is torn up and removed, the city will suffer an enormous loss in respect and vision. Los Angeles, Cleveland have already expressed “amazement” that Cincinnati would even consider rejecting federal dollars and removing already existing track. There are almost a dozen cities that are building streetcar systems. • Someone a couple of years ago said that Cincinnati is a “dying city.” Definitely not true today! So please don’t work to kill it. • The streetcar program is a wonderful effort to benefit the entire region, but the entire effort, going beyond the first phase, will take some time. • Please, I ask you: have the courage and integrity to reconsider supporting this streetcar effort – all politics aside!! • Don’t be the council that will be remembered as a “can’t do” council. And don’t let negative thinking others influence you!

  7. It will take three weeks for an independent evaluator to come up with the cost to cancel the streetcar project?!! Mr. Dietrick should be allowed to have DAILY results of the study, so that he can evaluate the "merits" of the findings, and possibly indicate areas where additional costs might occur.
  8. Can we today ask Cranley to explain in detail why he is so again the streetcar, so we can directly respond positively to each of his statements?
  9. I did not send my e -mail to Cranley. I realize my comments don't carry much "weight," because I live 50 miles away in Dayton, but my arguments in favor of the streetcar still are valid. I never should have put my address in the e-mail. BTW, I was using "conservative" in the old way of Cincinnati being afraid to explore new ideas, and with some lack of imagination, and with some risk. That is no longer true of Cincinnati. Feel free to send your own e-mail to Council members!

  11. Dear Sir, I don’t live in Cincinnati (Miamisburg, Ohio), but I believe that I love Cincinnati almost as much as you; and I want to see Cincy progress as much as you do. The streetcar project is exciting, forward-looking and will encourage development along the route. It is only the beginning of, hopefully, a much longer system. I believe it will more than pay for itself, but for some reason it does not, it will in the long run benefit the city. People who say it will not benefit them are somewhat short-sighted and selfish. Interstate I-74 may not benefit directly some who live in eastern Cincinnati, but this region would not be the same for many people and trucking companies who carry goods to Cincy from Indianapolis. AND we all pay indirectly for maintaining this interstate! If the streetcar is cancelled the country will know that Cincinnati is still conservative - a city that cancelled a subway, and now a streetcar system – a system that many cities are willing to take a reasonable risk in building a streetcar system. There will be in the future little if any chance of getting funds for future transportation projects. Please rethink your position on the streetcar. Have the courage to change your mind! Best!     Great that a world headquarters is expanding in downtown Cincy, but a real downer on the height of the building.
