Cincinnati: Clifton Heights - 65 West Apartments
Argh. This sucks. I practically grew up at Friar's. I havent stepped foot in the building in about 15 years, but I have a lot of great memories there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Is the "tiara" completely enclosed by glass panels or is it a steel structure that is open to the elements? I can't tell from the renderings.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Also, the West side of the riverfront has at least some utility in its current form as parking lots. The East side was a muddy hole. Better to fill up the muddy hole first.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Ha, ha. His argument against the street car is that it will drive up the value of the land in OTR. So he is in agreement with the supporters of the street car.

I am loving these yuppie guys. They are hitting the nail on the head.

I'm watching the stream. Seems to be a possitive vibe in the room.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
It is pretty clear that there is a gang war going on between some of the local lowlifes. Not much the police can do about it other than try to solve the crimes and lock up the perps. That takes time. I am sure they are working on it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
The name of a building is absolutely meaningless.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
If the Stadium faced Mt. Adams instead of the river the main entrance/ticket window would still be in the same place as it is under the current configuration. There is no rule that the main entrance has to be behind home plate. The main entrance to Coors Field in Denver, for example, is in left field.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
I always thought that GABP should have faced Mt. Adams with the Immaculata in center or left field. That would be consistent with the East or North East preference. and be a much better back drop than Newport.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
BlackBengal replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI love City BBQ. If they opened a downtown location I would gain 20 pounds. Also, I can't mention City BBQ without taking a shot at Montgomery Inn. I would just like to remind everyone that Montgomery Inn is garbage and an insult to BBQ.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 21c Hotel (Metropole Building Redevlopment)
I don't live downtown, but I work a block away from the Metropole and have walked past the building at least once a day for the better part of the last decade. The residents have always appeared to be nice and friendly. I have never thought of that building as the source of any of the problems downtown. I am excited about the hotel that is going into the building, because I think DT needs another upscale hotel, but I wish they would have picked a different building.

Open containers is a bad idea anywhere downtown. Too many people would abuse it. That alley would be the new hang-out for the homeless 24/7 and the cops wouldnt be able to do anything about it.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
Options 2-6 are so much taller than the Brent Spence that they may standout despite the fact that they will rub up against the BS. That is why I favor option 6. That thing is so damn tall that it would be able to be seen fairly clearly from the East.

Newport, KY: Ovation
BlackBengal replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWow. That actually looks great from what I can tell from the faint picture. I hope it gets built someday.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
^I agree that the Houston/Orlando comparison is way off. It looks more like something that would be in Atlanta, which isnt a bad thing.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
I think that Columbus really wanted to put themselves on the map as a major city when they got their NHL team. Big cities have major sports teams. That's why they went with "Columbus" instead of "Ohio." I bet if they went with "Ohio" they would get a lot more attention in Cincy and Cleveland.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 21c Hotel (Metropole Building Redevlopment)
^ This has to be one of the best news days in UO history. With the metropole going from low-income housing to likely the best (and certainly hippest) hotel in the city, I am nominate the block of Walnut between 6th and 7th as Cincy's best block. It has (or will have): Nada, Roma (most underrated restaurant in the city in my opinion), Nicholsons, Bootsy's, the Righteous Room, several upscale newly renovated condos, the Aronoff Center, the CAC and now a great new hotel. Not bad for one city block.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I hate it when columnist refer to Columbus as Ohio's largest city. While technically true, it is incredibly misleading.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
Does that mean that they are going to build on/off ramps to 71 at MLK? That would be a great idea. Uptown is strangely difficult to access from 71.

BlackBengal replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionDoes anyone have a handy list of what phase 3cdc is on, what is included in that phase, and what project are going to start next? I am a little lost.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I don't see the hole, are you talking about the empty section with 3 orange cones around it halfway down on the north sidewalk? I mentioned many, many pages back how one of the things I liked about Atlantic Station was the NYC subway style staircases that led to the underground parking garage. I have not seen these in any of the Banks renderings, but they would be perfect for this project and would really be a nice touch. Do we know if these are included in the plans?

BlackBengal replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction^This place sounds awesome. Exactly the type of restaurant that this city needs more of. Unique, high quality bar food. I am very excited.

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
Publix isnt anywhere close to being the dominant grocery store in Atlanta. There are over 80 Kroger stores in the Atlanta metro area and only about 30 Publix. I am also suprised that people would want to see Publix move into Cincy as Kroger is one of the cornerstones of the Cincy economy.
