  1. Here is a link to the COAST website. Read the post from 8:30 this morning: http://coast-usa.blogspot.com/2013/12/music-for-cincinnati-streetcar.html Things can change a lot in 6 hours.
  2. Mann- "I am so glad this issue is done and over with." -applause from crowd-
  3. That is amazing. The drama is finally over.
  4. Obviously there needs to be a full court press on Flynn from supporters. I still think he can be convinced.
  5. Pretty clear that Cranley just doesnt want a streetcar, no matter what the deal is. All that COAST money has infected him.
  6. ^ I am starting to think that this is a possibility. But I am a glass half full kinda guy.
  7. I think that their problem with the Sorta offer will be that Sorta gets much of its funding from the City.
  8. I was joking. I know that Smitherman couldn't do something that sane.
  9. Maybe they are going to announce that Cranley and everyone on Counsel is now in favor of the streetcar.
  10. I think packing the room with anti-streetcar people will backfire. When anti-streetcar people try to explain their position they tend to sound like crazy old cranks that are afraid of any change. Bring them on.
  11. Exactly, you get the feeling that most of the people who are against the streetcar have never lived anywhere but Cincinnati. They have a very strong opinion on something that they are completely unqualified to judge.
  12. Thanks. The new Enquirer story doesnt say anything about "an anonymous private donor who offered to underwrite streetcar operations for the next 30 years." Where does that info come from? http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20131212/news/312120035/cranley-making-major-streetcar-announcement-today&nocache=1
  13. Can someone sum this up for me? I am confused. Is Cranley now trying to find a way to get the streetcar back on track? Are Flynn and Mann with him? I need the Cliff Notes version.
  14. Is there any chance it won't be cancelled? I am so sick of following this drama.
  15. So in other words, we are screwed?
  16. Would the Feds pull the money before a referendum?
  17. Can someone just clarify for me: Is is still our understanding that no matter what the counsel does today, they cannot stop construction for 30 days? And that will give us time to get signatures for a referendum, right?
  18. If they can't cancel the streetcar on December 2 (now that PG is with us), then the cost savings of cancelling the streetcar needs to be revised to show that the costs incurred in December cannot be avoided. This brings the costs of completion very close to the cost of cancellation.
  19. While this is all good news, I really hope that another member of council comes over to the light side of the force, prior to December 2, or that Cranley decides not to fight. I don't want this city to have to go through another year of bickering about the streetcar.
  20. Great job Enquirer! Their support is very significant. John Cranley, if you are reading this, let's put this issue behind us and get on with running this city.
  21. I know a few.
  22. Whoever is advising Cranley should make him see that he is really hurting his image and future political prospects by fighting against the streetcar. If he loses the fight he will look ineffective, if he wins the fight he will have alienated at least half of the population (mostly the young half that will be voting in elections 10 and 20 years from now). Not to mention that he will spend his first year+ in office engaged in legal battles with contractors and supporters of referendums. He will not emerge unscathed. The best course of action for Cranley is to concede that it is too far along to stop and move on to the business of running the city.
  23. It's only a waste if you don't complete it.
  24. Mallory v. Cranley would be the lamest fight ever. We'd be waiting hours for each of them to throw the first punch. Then Mallory would finally throw a punch, but it would miss Cranley's face by 5 feet.
