Anyone have any insight on why Ohio rejected job creation tax credits for Pure Romance? Is this an unusual move by Ohio, or do these kind of deals often get rejected? http://nky.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20130910/BIZ/309100132/Pure-Romance-talking-NKY-after-Ohio-snub?odyssey=mod|newswell|img|FRONTPAGE|p

Turnout was so low that this doesn't mean much. I was the only person at my polling place when I went right after work.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
BlackBengal replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction3CDC moves north with next major OTR project Written by Cindi Andrews The next phase of development in Over-the-Rhine will be 3CDC’s northernmost major project to date, butting up against Liberty Street. 3CDC is planning something – it doesn’t yet know what – at 15th and Race streets, according to spokeswoman Anastasia Mileham. It also is working on 30,000 square feet of office space plus some street-level retail at 15th and Vine streets. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130909/news/309090100/3cdc-moves-north-next-major-otr-project

Another question. Is it clear who is in the lead? Is there any polling data?

You really think that Trader Joes has high quality food? Trader Joes specializes in microwave meals, canned foods and prepacked meats. They have a very small produce section with poor quality fruit and veggies. Relative to other grocery stores TJ's is packed with cheap "non-fresh" foods like ramen, pizza rolls, cereal, and similar products. I think it is a perfect fit for college students.

It isn't earth chattering architecture, but there really isn't much wrong with it. It is the type of design that has a chance of looking much better in real life than the rendering, because I dint think it will look cheap and there are not any faux elements to it. Most importantly, it will fit in nicely with the CBD.

what time?- Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
I have stayed in two Ws and I don't see what the big deal is. They are nice, but not anything special. 21C is way nicer than either of the Ws I have stayed at. The quality of design found in a W is much higher than most chain hotels. Comparing a chain to a boutique hotel is like comparing apples to oranges. Besides, I think 21C tries a little too hard. 21C tries to hard? Here are some images of various Ws. This is the type of crap that will look sad and ridiculous in 10 years, if it doesnt already. I don't think that is the case with 21C. 21C is classy and understated compared to your typical W. Also, 21C is not exactly a boutique. It is a young chain, with three hotels and a few more in the works.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel

Easy, you punch holes in them and install windows, but I think this will prevent you from qualifying for historic tax credits. The other idea that I love, but have no idea if it is feasible, is to gut the base floors and put in a multiple screen movie theater.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Obviously there is a ton of demand for apartments in this area, since they have 300 apartments that won't be ready until 2015 100% leased. So why not just get to work on the other phases and finish the Banks? If they are able to sell out so quickly, why not keep going? I would really like to the see the section South of West Freedom Way completed soon.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
If Vantiv is considering moving to a bigger space, the city should be working on a deal to bring them downtown ASAP. If they need more space than the Banks can offer there are plenty of other options in the CBD.- Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Fortunately for Qualls, the vast majority of people that would not vote for her because she supports the streetcar can't vote in the mayoral election anyway, because they live outside the city limits.- Norwood: Development and News
BlackBengal replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe office building is surprisingly decent looking. The apartment building is predictably awful. This whole development is just terrible and depressing. This used to be a walkable neighborhood.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Smitherman is aligned with COAST because they both oppose the Streetcar. But they oppose it for different reasons. COAST for anti-gov't spending reasons and Smitherman for anti-gentrification reasons. I think.- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
The Banks better watch it. Toby Keith is known to put a boot in the ass.- Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Have you seen Clevelands? They repurposed an old Department store, it looks great. Isnt that just a temporary location. I thought that they are constructing a new building later that will be the permanent casino?- Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
What about the Lager House? It might technically be in the Smale Park, but you have to count it.- Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
I have a friend that leases space in Carew. He said that he tried to renew his lease and was told that they werent renewing leases.- Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
You can't be serious. In my experience, the layout of office space makes an enormous difference in how people interact. Its not just the new school companies, like Facebook etc., (where Mark Zuckerberg not only doesnt work in a private office, but also doesn't even have a desk to himself) that subscribe to the philosophy. Sergio Marchionne completely redesigned Chrysler's corporate offices in order to eliminate the hierarchical internal culture of the company with great success. I worked briefly (along time ago) in a big (Fortune 500) company that has traditional, multi-floor, office layout; where the executives were on the top floor, middle management had private offices along the windows of each floor, and everyone else had cubicles in the center, windowless portion of the floors. It is a horrible work environment. It creates an us against them mentality within the company.- Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
No. DH said all along, 'we want big, open floors.' Then 3CDC and the City came in and tried to shoe-horn a residential tower into the project. That would have required DH to accept multiple, smaller floors, stacked on top of each other. Exactly what they said they didnt want. DH was willing to listen to the City's pitch to include a residential tower, but in the end it would have meant sacrificing their vision for the space. This is DH's building first and foremost. The number 1 priority should be giving them exactly what they want. There are plenty of other sites in the CBD that can be used as a residential tower.- Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Maybe they are keeping them a secret until the Jan. 31 groundbreaking.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
My dream for this building is for the lower, windowless part to be gutted and turned into a movie theatre and the top portion to be residential or hotel with a rooftop bar. - Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
