  6. I think everyone could rally behind this. They would have to shut down Burke in 5-6 years to have a chance at jimmy going for it. But the question still remains on how it would be paid for.

Dan: Make this hap[pen - Women's National Basketball Association: The ownership of the National Basketball Association's Milwaukee Bucks is reported to have submitted a proposal to bring a WNBA expansion team to Milwaukee. The WNBA wants to add one more team in its current round of expansion to reach 16 teams by the 2028 season. Other markets like Philadelphia, Austin, Kansas City, Miami, Central Florida, Nashville, Charlotte, Denver and possibly Cleveland are said to be under consideration.

  18. “Your misconduct is so serious and compelling as to affect your present responsibility,” Borum concluded. “Your misconduct affects the integrity of HUD’s multifamily programs because it jeopardizes the financial viability of the projects. The mismanagement of your properties risks the housing stability, and housing quality, of those tenant families.” Geez i wonder what this means for the future of the Centennial project.
  19. None of that necessarily means that the city of Cleveland's offer of $367 million for renovation of the existing lakefront stadium (plus nearly $100 million for future renovations), or a potential pivot to a new stadium on part of the land where Burke Lakefront Airport now sits, is fully in play. The Burke gambit, in particular, seems like a dead letter. But we don't believe the conversation about a Browns stadium in Cleveland is done. Keep talking.
  20. Partially True - But How Did Salt lake city get the relocated Arizona Coyotes team - they have a lower tier ECHL team that draws about 6k per game and CLE draws 11k. They are a small market like Cle and they have the NBA to compete for the winter sports dollar. They are always mentioned for a relocated or expansion MLB team. WHY is this? THAT ownership in Utah has deep pockets and has a passion. Gilbert is content with the AHL here.
  21. i am sure they can if they build the stadium BUT where will they find an interested and passionate ownership. Remember it took 20 years to find someone with passion for a team. Bart Wolstein to Mike Murphy. Remember Cleveland has a NHL arena, they have the highest attendance in all of minor league hockey and they have a large grassroots community and high school hockey and they have one of the richest owners in sports ( Dan Gilbert ), and Cleveland is NEVER MENTIONED as a potential NHL Expansion team. WHY Not? This is because Gilbert is not interested in the NHL in Cleveland. SO if good find solid USL ownership they could have a team. OWNERSHIP is the key.
  22. For those who could get thru the paywall. Nice article on the Terrace Hub. https://www.crainscleveland.com/sports-recreation/phase-2-progressive-field-renovations-begins-after-alcs-loss
  23. Don't forget this law was utilized a handful of years ago. The owners of the Columbus Crew wanted to move the team to Austin Texas. City of Columbus sued using the Modell Law. ( New ownership was Found - Jimmy Haslam ( part owner ) and the team was sold to the new ownership group. Columbus saved the Crew from moving, Jimmy Haslam became part owner of the team and a new Columbus Crew state of the art MLS stadium was built. So Jimmy Haslam has been involved in the Modell Law. The difference this time is that 1) he is on the other side of the law and 2) the move involves moving to the Cleveland Suburbs ( basically across the street from City of Cleveland proper at the airport. So no one knows if this law will be enforced since they are staying in the region. Since Jimmy has been part of the Modell Law before in Columbus maybe he caves in and stays downtown if he feels the law would be enforced.
  24. Andy Wollschleger, TurnDev’s chief financial officer, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, fielded questions from Cleveland City Council’s Development Planning and Sustainability Committee. The committee’s OK sets the table for council action on two pieces of legislation the developers say is essential for the $200 million project to proceed. Documents pitching for the aid indicate construction may begin Nov. 1 and be completed June 30, 2026.
