  4. Welcome, to the forum and the City!
  5. I hear you. I appreciate the response though.
  6. John, was this an expected move? Does their argument hold water? Are you hearing any other feedback from the Solicitor on whether it will get through the court?
  7. I can only imagine...with the dribble that comes out of his mouth on his local TV program...WOW.
  8. Also, I noticed that the old "Sully's" (corner of race and seventh) has started on some work with a couple signs in the windows. The new place is called Bag Pipes Irish Pub. The only other one I have seen is in Austin, looks like a good addition.

    Art Museum in Eden Park...Beautiful!
  10. I agree...great wings! we need one of those downtown. I would imagine it will be a nicer place than the one in Clifton (will serve different clientele, not college kids). I would rather have a local spot than a BW3s!!!
  11. Here we go... http://monarchconstruction.cc/projects/higheduc/images/pages/Miami%20University%20Parking%20Garage_jpg.htm Monarch is already doing work downtown at the Banks! I would imagine that would be an easy sell for them!
  12. As mundane as this sounds on the surface, it's actually great news. Yep, that's huge! It should also allow those housing developments to offer location-efficient mortgages. Awesome news! Also, I would guess we will hear more about the start of construction once the budget is passed. Not a great PR move to discuss or start construction prior to budget being signed. Even though they are not related
  13. Go to www.atlanticstation.com, my bet is on Foxsports grill. The following is the grand opening release for Atlantic Station, the only two I see as potential tenants for The Banks that would attract other tenants are Foxsports and Publix. "Following the week of grand opening festivities, the statues “Peace” and “Justice,” of the National Monument Foundation’s Millennium Gate, created by internationally-renowned sculptor Alexander Stoddart of Scotland, arrive in the community on Thursday, Oct. 27. The American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Walk” begins and ends in Atlantic Station on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 29. Atlantic Station also hosts the Brand Atlanta Campaign ambassadors, starting Oct. 18. Atlantic Station’s retail district is anchored by Dillard’s, Regal Cinemas and Publix. Other retailers include American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor Loft, Atlantic Cleaners & Tailors, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Bonehead’s Seafood, California Pizza Kitchen, Cingular Wireless, City Sports, Copeland’s Cheesecake Bistro, Doc Green’s, DSW, Express/Express Men, Eye Gallery, Fox Sports Grill, Gap, The Grape, Guess?, Jos. A. Bank, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Old Navy, Pier 1 Imports, PJ’s Coffee and Lounge, Tahitian Noni Café, Taste Clothing Boutique, Victoria’s Secret, Washington Mutual, West Elm, White House Black Market, Wolf Camera and Z Gallerie. IKEA is also located in Atlantic Station and is currently open. Bars and Restaurants Claddagh Irish Pub, Rosa Mexicano and Strip Steaks & Sushi are slated to open by the end of 2005."

Agreed. A few lost opportunities I see with this. Losing out on helping build on the biggest entertainment district in the city (going to lose out on some of the young crowd). Also, missing on several million visitors that could be stopping by a bar/rest or shop. Less attractive to convention business downtown. Losing out on an advocate for a downtown streetcar. Not to mention not building a casino that is unique to Columbus! (looks like every other midlevel casino in the US)

What a glaring mistake to move it to the westside of town
  16. They aren't moving anyone down there because of this announcement. Tax move?
  17. So in short they are moving 1000 people to knoxville...right?
  18. Good news! Even with a recession and "over priced", this may jumpstart the other block west of the freedom center once the garage is done. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/developingnow/2010/10/14/20-pct-of-apartments-pre-leased-at-the-banks/ Current @ The Banks, the 300-unit apartment community under construction on Cincinnati’s riverfront, isn’t expected to open until March, but already 20 percent of the apartments have been pre-leased. Officials with the project said Thursday that pre-leasing activity has been “unprecedented” compared to other projects developed nationally by Atlanta-based Carter and The Dawson Co. and the community’s manager Village Green Management Co...
  19. I didnt see the story in the Enquirer today. Anyone else see it?
  20. Speaking of that...I wonder if they are going to construct another tower crane west of the Freedom Center for the garage construction (similar to what they did on east side), even though it is just garage construction....for now.

Friday, September 17, 2010 | Modified: Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 5:00am EDT Signs point to Governor’s Hill for Fifth Third Processing Business Courier of Cincinnati - by Dan Monk Courier Senior Staff Reporter FTPS is likely to go to Governor's Hill in Mason. View Larger Symmes Township trustees are expected to vote in October on an incentive offer to attract Fifth Third Processing Solutions LLC to the Governor’s Hill office campus off Interstate 71. Township Administrator Gerald Beckman said trustees will consider an increase in the township’s 50 percent cap on property tax abatements. Beckman said he is negotiating with a Columbus-based site search consultant on how high the percentage will go. “Basically, it depends on jobs,” Beckman said. http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2010/09/20/tidbits1.html?b=1284955200^3960051 Not good
  22. Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 4:18pm EDT Rail, I-70/71 split money on Ohio wish list Business Courier of Cincinnati The Ohio Department of Transportation is vying for up to $150 million from Washington for infrastructure projects, armed with a wish list that tilts heavily toward plans to develop passenger rail service in the state. The Transportation Department this week submitted applications for funding from the federal government’s Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program, dubbed Tiger. The first phase of that infrastructure funding initiative was backed by the $787 billion stimulus package and in its second round makes $600 million available through competitive bidding. http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2010/08/23/daily33.html Another request for Streetcar money...another 35 million would be gravy
  23. Nothing short of an ego pumping move by Terence Brennan...not to mention free publicity
  24. "Banks office town" = Banks office tower.
  25. Fifth Third spinoff eyes more spaceBusiness Courier of Cincinnati - by Dan Monk and Steve Watkins Courier staff reporters Media Fifth Third Processing Solutions, the electronic-funds transfer spinoff of Fifth Third Bancorp, is scouring Ohio locations for up to 200,000 square feet of new office space. The company is growing rapidly one year after the bank sold a 51 percent ownership stake to Boston-based Advent International Corp., said Terry Zizzo, an executive in charge of human resources for Fifth Third Processing. Zizzo described the search for office space as exploratory and added there is no time frame for a decision... http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2010/07/19/story2.html?b=1279512000^3657951 Hopefully they stay downtown...this is a great growth industry!!! Can anyone say anchor tenant for the Banks office town! 200,000 sq feet is a good start.
