  1. no offense to the rest of Ohio's major cities, but who else has anything close to the number of major projects in the pipeline as Cincinnati? Downtown Columbus is practically mirroring Cincinnati's projects (riverfront park, central square rehab, downtown townhouses, capping I-71). http://www.downtowncolumbus.com/progress I don't know if Columbus or Cincinnati is spending more downtown but both cities are doing the damn thing, projects-wise. Two main differences, No Casino Downtown and no project timeline or funding for Streetcar
  2. 14-story Cincinnati office tower may become apartments By Laura Baverman • [email protected] • June 21, 2010 Ashley Development Co. of Edgewood plans a $17 million conversion of the 14-story Fourth and Race Tower, built in 1927 to house the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and later, the Federal Reserve Bank. Ashley has requested nearly $1 million in gap financing from the city. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100621/BIZ01/6220333/Office-tower-may-become-apartments
  3. Update on street car project expected Monday Posted: Jun 21, 2010 7:24 AM EDT Updated: Jun 21, 2010 7:42 AM EDT CINCINNATI (FOX19) - City leaders are expected to give an update on the Cincinnati Streetcar system Monday. The City Budget and Finance Committee will hold a special meeting at noon and will likely have a status report on the project. http://www.fox19.com/Global/story.asp?S=12680939
  4. Ironically, if they printed both pro and anti streetcar articles they would stir up more interest and volume.
  5. The more they print these ridiculous articles and "letters to the editor" the more we read them and the more they (against) read them. They win.

  7. Cincinnati may get new hotel, garages due to casino By Lisa Bernard-Kuhn • [email protected] • June 18, 2010 Comments (0) Recommend Print this page ShareThis Font size:AA Major projects that would add 3,000 new parking spaces and a new hotel could be on the horizon for downtown Cincinnati, as planners prepare for the incoming casino at Broadway Commons. Roughly 1,800 to 2,200 parking spaces are expected to disappear once work begins at Broadway Commons on the $500 million casino. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100618/BIZ01/6190316/Casino-may-spawn-hotel-garages Why do they need 3k more spaces with the loss of 2k spots....especially when the casino is building a garage as well. After P&G just added 3 more levels to the broadway garage down there, we will be surrounded by garages. I dont have a problem with garage development as long other development is built on top....
  8. Absolutely!
  9. Monday, June 7, 2010, 1:38pm EDT Piano bar to replace Havana Martini ClubBusiness Courier of Cincinnati - by Lucy May Senior Staff Reporter Havana Martini Club downtown is closing and will be replaced by the Penguin Dueling Piano Bar. Judie Guttadauro, vice president of sales and leasing for Realty Network Plus, Inc., leased the 6,000-square-foot space in the Carew Tower to Penguin, which is based in Lexington. “I think it’s going to be really exciting,” Guttadauro said. The location is near both the Westin Cincinnati and the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, making it an ideal stop for wedding parties after rehearsal dinners and receptions, she said. Its proximity to the Duke Energy Center downtown is a plus, too, she said. http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2010/06/07/daily5.html

  12. Downtown's 'backstage' grows in 2010 By Laura Baverman • [email protected] • June 3, 2010 In 2010, that vision may finally become real. Over the next six months, half a dozen new restaurants, bars, dance clubs and lounges are expected to fill retail spaces on the blocks north of Fountain Square and surrounding the performing arts center. Restaurateur Jeff Ruby will renovate and re-launch the flashy and colorful Bootsy's on Walnut Street as a bar and separate to-be-named restaurant. By fall, Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. will begin a $13.8 million redevelopment of historic buildings that once housed the Maisonette and Barleycorn's restaurants, and a third warehouse behind those buildings. Restaurants and residential units will populate the space. And in 2012, the Metropole Apartments will reopen as a 21c museum and hotel and Proof restaurant and bar. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100603/BIZ01/6040352
  13. Developer Releases Latest Vision Of Casino Last Update: 3:34 pm Animation Of Broadway Casino Latest On Broadway Commons Casino To Be Announced CINCINNATI -- The developer of the casino to be built at Broadway Commons on the eastern edge of downtown Cincinnati has released the latest vision of what the casino will look like. Rock Ventures, which is developing the casino, unveiled a video Friday. It shows a lot of glass and steel in a two-to-three story structure. http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story/Developer-Releases-Latest-Vision-Of-Casino/Xv99o2OyTky00DEwXO7Xyw.cspx
  14. Thanks for the comment...I am glad it was being addressed at the Charrette
  15. Just a thought...and it may have been brought up in the meetings....was there anytalk of having a "green roof" on the casino. Three things, reduce the runoff from the current pavement farm down there now, provide a much better view from above, and provide great PR for the casino and city (I am sure there would be some govt incentive as well). Not really quite sure how they work, but I saw an example on the new PNC bank branch on Ridge Road and it look really nice from above with the grass and small shrubs. Was this in the discussion at all during the open forum with Rock Ventures?

  19. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100316/BIZ01/3170317/Tobacco+store+closing++building+shuttered Tobacco store closing; building shuttered By Laura Baverman • [email protected] • March 16, 2010 ----------------------- Doesnt sound like this is going to happen anytime soon. Anyone have any inside info? The 34-year-old business, one of just two smoke shops downtown, is in the process of selling its inventory and closing its shop in the historic Cincinnati Enquirer building at 617 Vine St. The building's owner, Middle Earth Properties, notified Tobacconist owner Pat Coldiron Feb. 1 that the building could soon close. The Camp Washington-based developer, which has plans to spend $20 million to renovate the Enquirer building into apartments, office and street-level retail, is facing foreclosure at several of its local apartment buildings and is fighting other lawsuits associated with its condo projects.
  20. Bartini to open in downtown Cincinnati's Backstage Entertainment District Soapbox, 3/16/2010 The abrupt closing of the Oceanaire Seafood Room at the southeast corner of 6th and Walnut streets has been the only bad news for the Backstage Entertainment District in downtown Cincinnati in recent years. New residences, nightlife, dining and infrastructure improvements have otherwise been the narrative for this burgeoning district. http://www.soapboxmedia.com/devnews/0316downtownbartini.aspx

Business Courier http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/blog/2010/01/david_ginsburg_is_new_sheriff_in_town.html Doug Bolton Publisher David Ginsburg is new sheriff in town Friday, January 15, 2010, 9:43am EST Move over Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis. There’s been a new sheriff named in town. “For the most part, this (job) is like being the sheriff of Mayberry.” That’s how David Ginsburg, president and CEO of Downtown Cincinnati Inc., described himself to the Cincinnati Rotary Club, which meets each Thursday downtown. DCI is the 15-year-old organization largely funded by downtown property owners to keep Cincinnati’s central business district safe and clean... Don't know much about him, but read the last paragraph...positive sign for 5th and race!
