i also think the tribe should look at dealing Frankie G and Blake...they have more value than most realize...

good point about the players union... ...i really think he'll end up as a Cubbie/Dodger though and not as a Yankee...last major mid-season acquisition by Yankees was Abreu...recently they've shown an aversion to dealing young prospects...but CC could be a special exception...

^Gimenez was promoted to Buffalo. He should be brought in as the backup to ShopVac until VMart is healthy. (C'mon Sal Fasano?) Stayed up to watch the game last night...so I'm really tired this morning...don't know why I did, maybe i am a glutton for punishment, but I guess I am still holding out some hope that this season will take a turn for the better. Hard to have that "glass have full" mentality after being swept by one of the worse teams in the bigs... CC being traded should now be a foregone conclusion and with the rash of starting pitching injuries among the major contenders (Wang/Zambrano/Penny/DiceK/etc) I sure hope Shapiro can land us some ready-to-contribute players.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
does anyone know what is going in across from flannery's? (corner of prospect/east 4th?)

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
can we just be happy that there is SOMETHING? It is certainly better than nothing. We can worry about being picky in a couple years when the entire Corridor is wall-to-wall retail/entertainment...

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
walking back from east 4th last night there was a guard also positioned on the prospect side of the building as well...this was around 10pm. are they hired to be there around the clock?

it is too bad we don't have a healthier core of starting pitching options right now. if we did, odds are good shapiro would deal CC real soon, achieving maximum value for him. trading him now makes him a 4 month potential "rental" versus a 2 month "rental" come July 31st or thereabouts...each day that passes could mean less return on a CC trade. if Carmona was healthy, i'm willing to bet shapiro would have pulled the trigger on a trade. a rotation of Carmona, Lee, Laffey, Byrd, Sowers, would be more than serviceable. unfortunately with Carmona's recent set back, along with the season-ending injuries to Miller/Westbrook, Shapiro has to wait...

you may be right, and I hope you are...i welcome any other KD tenants to speak up either in support or against them....

K&D must be trying to save money, going with the lowest bids, which does not surprise me one bit considering who we are referencing. Not saying 668 won't turn out immaculate, it might, but it is clear from living in at least one of their other properties, they try and skimp wherever they can. With as big a role as K&D and Doug Price are playing in downtown's residential rebirth, I can only hope my experience is the exception and not the norm.

plus don't forget you are only able to work with have the league since he is a DH-only player. take away the central and teams that already have DH's in place and that group grows even smaller. i hope this injury was the problem, but i don't have much hope...i guess that is the pessimistic Cleveland sports fan in me talking

oh I don't see the Tribe being able to trade him...he has very little value if he is not stroking it...if they assume some of the cost of his contract they may find some interested parties, but don't expect much in return.

wow. unreal how fast this team's fortunes have turned. from nearly winning it all to possibly having to look at rebuilding in less than 3 months. p.s. yes i use the word rebuilding, b/c with the Hafner situation and Sabathia likely to be traded for prospects, we're going to be taking a step back...

Roommates
My worst exp. came in college when I mistakenly lived with a friend from high school freshman year. he was spoiled beyond belief and refused to do any laundry between holiday trips home, where he would have his mother do it for him. B/c of this, a tower of smelly, dirty laundry would quickly accumulate in the corner of our tiny 6' x 15' dorm room. Despite pleas to do something about this, he would not relent. The most egregious display of his uncleanliness took the form of his one "shower towel" which he would hang underneath his bed to dry every night after returning from the community bathrooms. The smell that emanated from this cannot be easily described in words, but I will try. The odor was a mix of the smell you come across sometimes when traveling down 77 South before 480 when you pass the water treatment plant, part wet dog, and part FeBreeze. The FeBreeze was his "solution" to masking the odor. Instead, it made the cocktail that much more wicked.

Columbus - Arena District - Living Options?
thanks CMH, I sincerely appreciate the input

Roommates
I think I'd be ok with living alone in a city where I still had my entire social circle, but the thought of moving to a completely different city AND living alone is daunting. :-(
-
Roommates
What are everyone's thoughts on living alone? I've always had roommates, but I may be faced with the prospect of living alone shortly. The opportunity is pretty amazing, but I'm having serious reservations, especially b/c it would entail moving to an area almost completely outside of my current social circle.

Columbus - Arena District - Living Options?
That is enticing, but Arena Crossing is uber-expensive, slightly more than what I want to pay. I'd like to be able to live some place that has a bit of a social aspect to it, as I would be living alone. While I know people in the area, I'll be relying on work/my living arrangement to have a social aspect outside of the weekends.

Peak Oil
My fear is that, as the Saudis/Russians are demonstrating, a growing number of countries realize their oil is more valuable left in the ground to be extracted at some later date.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
"There is no example anywhere of Bus Rapid Transit's attracting development." Wow, that is a pretty bold statement to make...after reading this, I didn't really place too much stock in what the rest of the article had to say.

Peak Oil
There are also those that contend that peak oil does exist, b/c oil is after all a finite resource, but resides much further down the road and that the higher gas prices we're experiencing today will lead to more discoveries/production coming online in the near term.
