Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Just because you have a degree doesn't really make you an expert or genius. Your opinion on this project confirms that. You think it's not the right thing to do even though it would be great and timeless? :? :bang: The most beautiful buildings, not only in this city, but in the world today and throughout history have been build with these so called technological limitations. What do they build now with all of our technology? Oh yeah, big box retail stores and Newport on the Levee. Architectural wonders were build thousands of years ago in Rome, Greece and Egypt with technological limitations and they looked much better than most of the buildings being constructed today. And oh yeah, they all did it without Architectural degrees.

Steve Love and Robert Richardson sound more than qualified to be members of the group regardless of what there race is. I'm totally fine with it as long as their not puppets for Chris Smitherman's agitation purposes. Which I doubt. So it's all good. Let's keep this ball rolling.

Cincinnati's Marijuana Ordinance
It just doesn't make any sense at all to throw people in jail for possession of Gods herb, when for years they've been bitching about an overcrowded jail. I guess let a few rapists and murderers out early to make room for people who smoke what technically shouldn't even be considered a drug. It's a freakin natural plant.

You Gotta love 85. Out of Cincy, into Africa By GEOFF HOBSON March 23, 2007 Posted: 10:50 p.m. Chad Johnson’s voice is known for its high-pitched, fun-loving boasting cackle that fits so nicely into postgame sound bites. But soon his more somber tones will be the soundtrack of a film documenting crushing African poverty for which he’s the narrator. Johnson, who can still smell the stench of the Nairobi slums, spent 10 days in Kenya stunned as he recorded shoeless children drinking water out of puddles one minute and running around and laughing and kicking a soccer ball the next. Now that he’s back in the States, he’s vowing to help clothe many of the children squeezed hopelessly among a million people churning for life along 300 acres. “I can’t even begin to explain it,” he says, still amazed. “We don’t know how lucky we are.” Johnson has spent his offseason vacation where everyone and no one knows his name. After traveling to London to watch soccer’s Chad, Thierry Henry, play two games for Arsenal, he flew nine more hours to Kenya at the invite of Feed The Children and ended up playing soccer in the mud with barefoot kids. Cincinnati Public Schools: Development and News
Let's see. A school board that is made up primarily of people who never went through the Cincinnati Public School system decides to close what is probably the best elementary scool in Cincinnati. A Superintendent who decides not to even try to fight to keep the school open because she claims that her job is to close shools. And she gets a salary increase for doing so. In the meantime, these good students will end up in a school that is not as good. And they wonder why families are moving out of Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I was sitting around thinking about things that I would like to see at The Banks. Besides the usual mention of restaurants and an ESPNZone, I thought of something that I usually make a point of seeing if I go someplace and they have one. A Ripley's museum. There's not one anywhere near here. And it always seems like their a big draw whenever I go to one. So how about it? Agree or disagree?

That might explain the 5,000 to 6,000 SF that I mentioned with W & S Brokerage. W & S Brokerage is located in the same suite as IFS which I guess means they work out of the same offices. So I take it that the 5,000 SF is your friends company.

303 Broadway.....a.k.a. Queen City Square Phase I 8 floors of office space at 23,500 square feet each (roughly) Total office space: 188,474 square feet Available office space: 87,915 square feet That amounts to 46% vacancy FORT WASHINGTON INVESTMENT ADVISORS occupies 30,000 SF of office space and resides mainly on the 12th floor and probably parts of the 11th. This company is a member of the Western & Southern Financial Group. IFS FINANCIAL SERVICES occupies 65,000 SF of office space and resides on the 9th, 10th, and 11th floors. IFS consists of three core revenue-generating business units – W&S Financial Group Distributors, Inc.; Touchstone Investments (Touchstone Advisors, Inc., and Touchstone Securities, Inc.); and Integrated Investment Services, Inc. This company is also part of the Western & Southern Financial Group. W & S BROKERAGE SERVICES most likely occupies the remaining 5,000 to 6,000 SF that have been leased and probably resides on the 8th floor. All of these companies are associated with Western & Southern and W&S has a lot of subsidiaries, so I would think the chances are good that more in-house occupancy would be coming. University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I'm sure they look at fan support when they offer bowls to teams. Nonetheless, they would have been offered a better bowl if they finished higher in the conference, but South Florida beating West Virginia flubbed that all up.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
^Yeah, the road uniforms suck. Another thing. I heard they might use the organ a lot more intead of modern music and such. God I hope not. I hated going to Sunday games because of the organ. Sunday crowds are the most boring and I'm pretty sure it's because of the organ. You know when a player comes up to bat in a key situation and they play a few bars of his favorite song? That got me pumped up too. But the organ being used in the same situation didn't get me pumped up and I could sense the same thing in the crowds. If they start catering more and more to the older fans, there going to start losing more and more of the younger fans.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Are you the same Cramer from 'Seinfeld'? You have a real problem with the color black don't you buddy? Fu**ing racist. :-D Just kidding. Seriously though, speak for your yourself on the uniforms. I loved when they put black in the jersey's. And the vest's are cool to me. As a matter of fact, anything is better than what they had in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's until they went to the current design. Do you want them to bring those plain, boring, no style uniforms back? I think they should keep black in. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind seing a little more. Almost every other team in this this city besides Xavier ( and high-school teams ) have black as a primary color in there jersey's and I don't mind at all that the Reds are included in that.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Thanks for clarifying. I remember were I got that impression. It was the World Almanac. They only list buildings that are 400ft or higher. So I guess I just assumed they were considering anything under 400ft was not a high-rise. Still it would be nice if this project ended up being around 400 feet.
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
I'm excited about this but...... If there going to call it a "high-rise", then make it a high-rise. 15-20 stories to me is a mid-rise building. I was always under the impression that a high-rise was any building over 400ft tall. Anything smaller is a mid-rise or low-rise. I don't know if there are any guidelines, but that is just my impression. My only concern is that it won't be tall enough to be seen in our famous skyline pictures. Other than that I'm very happy that their getting the ball rolling and I can't wait to see the design.

How much do you want to bet that the job training part would be the least used. Most of the people would probably go there for the free Health Care and other free hand-outs. Sad.

Cincinnati: City Budget and Spending News & Discussion
Oh man, I live in Carthage and I don't see how this will go over well at all with the people here. Everyone's already fuming over the School Board closing Carthage Paideia elementary school. Which, by the way, has either been the top ranked or second highest ranked elementary school in the district the last couple of years. Now might close the Carthage Community Center. Community leaders here are going to flip their lids. You take this away and you end up taking away all the youth programs that it has to offer. Not to mention all the stuff for Senior citizens. I even go there to use the weight room. It only costed me $15 for the whole year. It's small but has everything I need. I don't think they put much thought into these things when they make decisions like this. Wait, that's been this cities problem for the last 10 years or so. So it should come as no surprise. Nonetheless, people here in Carthage are going to think their getting picked on.
