Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
The picture in the article says Mt. Washington. I knew this would be a touchy subject for some people. I agree somewhat with the 14 year old. He was in and out of foster care and blah blah blah. I do believe he could have possibly still made something of his life. Then again, he could have just as easily been a murderer in a couple years. But in this latest case, this guy deserved what he got. If he didn't get caught by the guy in the truck, he would probably be out there tonight commiting another robbery and he could have ended up shooting someone this time. So no sympathy from me thank you. I believe the laws in which you refer to are way too soft on criminals. Their not afraid to do the crime because their not afrais to do the time. You know why? Because it's not scary. It sometimes seems that criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens. Getting arrested is not scary for them. They know they'll do a little time and they'll be back out on the streets to do the exact same thing that they were doing before they were caught. Now...getting run over by a pick-up truck for mugging and pistol-whipping someone, that's scary. Getting shot for stealing a car, that's scary. Getting shot while trying to rob a store or bank, that's scary. If I'm a rapist or a murderer or child molester and a vigilante catches me before the cops do, that's scary. I personally keep an unloaded .45 close to my bed with a loaded clip up on a bookcase ( because of my daughter ). It takes me less than 10 seconds to have that gun gun loaded and ready. So if someone breaks into my house, they've got 10 seconds to get the best of me, or their history. Whether they have a weapon or not. No criminal gets my sympathy. As far as I'm concerned, the only good criminal is a dead criminal. ( I'm not talking about petty crimes though ) I know it's a pretty strong opinion on my part and I respect your opinion Unusualfire. This may mean you are a better man than I am. I don't know. But what I do know is that the system is not working the way it is set up now. Crime keeps rising and rising and it seems the only answer anyone can think of is bigger jails and more police. The only problem is criminals aren't scared of police. But a group of organized vigilantes..that's scary. :-o

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Who needs a new jail? Stuff like this is more effective and will save the city a hell of a lot of money. Man dies as pickup runs him down BY JENNIFER BAKER AND FEOSHIA HENDERSON | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER A Cincinnati pickup truck driver who ran down a suspected mugger - killing him - was just trying to protect his friend who'd been held up, the driver's mother said Saturday. Tyree Henderson, 30, of Fairborn, was run over by the truck as he tried to flee from the 1500 block of Beacon Street, police said. Police, who continued to investigate Saturday, have not said whether the driver will be charged. Under Ohio law, the use of deadly force is permitted when someone is defending his home or believes he or someone else is about to be killed or seriously hurt. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061112/NEWS01/611120349/1077/COL02

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
If the Bengals didn't spot the Ravens 14 points in the first 5 minutes of the game, it would have never came down to that. It is starting to get a little depressing right now but I'm in no way giving up yet.

No shit? I knew about the statute but I thought it reset when it changed hands. I'll have to look in to this. Thanks Riverviewer!

I Think I'm a Victim of Credit Fraud
David, I'm going through something similar. It is a serious pain in the ass. They don't really write an instruction book on how to clear this crap up but it obviously takes forever, and no one seems to want to help. It all comes down to the fact that someone has to pay the debt no matter whether it's your fault or not. Here's my situation: About 8 years ago while living in Tucson Arizona I looked at my credit report and noticed that I was delinquent on a Montgomery Wards account...but... the problem was I never had a Montgomery Wards account. Now around that time Montgomery Wards was just about out of business and I was having a hell of a time trying to resolve the problem. Eventually I forgot all about it. Well then a few more years went by before I checked my credit report again. When I checked it, I noticed that a collection agency had picked up the account. When I called them, they said they couldn't do anything for me and that I would have to talk to Montgomery Wards to resolve it. I asked her " how was I supposed to talk to someone at Montgomery Wards when it's no longer in bussiness?" and she said she couldn't help and that if I thought that I was a victim of fraud that I could send them a police report and they'll get back with me. Well I didn't think I was a victim of fraud because the original charge was only $50. Why would someone steal my identity and only charge $50 to the card? But I filed a police report and sent it in anyway. I never heard back from the collection agency and the next time I checked my credit report, the account was gone. Now, fast forward to february of this year. I now live in Cincinnati. I get a letter from a collection agency called 'Worldzen' claiming that I owe them $138.09 but only had to pay $82.85 to settle the account. I'm thinking "this is bull-shit". I call them and get the same run around I got from the other agency. I told them that I sent a police report to the previous collection agency and they said it doesn't matter because they don't have it. They said that they would put my account in the 'being disputed' category and for me to send another police report. That's not all, on a recent credit report one of the credit bureau's "TransUnion" had my address as being in Mission Kansas ( I never lived in Kansas ) and my last name beginning with a G when my last name actually begins with a C. As a matter of fact, the letter that Worldzen sent to me had the same error with my last name but my address was correct. I called TransUnion and they told they couldn't help me with the debt but could change my address. Gee Thanks. :finger: Now it's October and it's still not resolved and I am still debating on whether to just pay the freakin $82.85 or keep fighting. I haven't filed a police report because I was told that I may have to file through the Tucson Police Department since that is where it all started. Sorry, for writing the book. I just wanted to let you know your not alone in this fight against creditors. :box:

Cincinnati at night - Updated with new photos
I like how you erased all the people from the street to make it look like you were the last person left on earth. How did you do that? :-D For real though, great pics, thanks!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Dude this shits getting on my nerves. I have to defend 1012. Monte. Please, please, please. You are not without sin, so stop throwing stones. Stop acting like your perfect. Every time someone mentions something that could be pulled across the race line, you are very quick to call people ignorant, insensitive, bigots, and racists. All 1012 said was that the Freedom Center does not interest him, and now all of a sudden he's ignorant and insensitive. It obviously doesn't interest a lot of the African-Americans in this city either. I've spoken to at least 50 African-Americans at work or elsewhere about the Freedom Center and NOT ONE has been there and most said they don't plan to anytime soon. I guess there ignorant and insensitive too right? Being Politically Correct is a trend or a fad. It is not reality. It forces people to be fake to themselves and everyone around them. It will die out in time. A couple of generations from now they will study this Era in history and learn how instead of helping this country it damn near destroyed it. They'll learn how it prevented law enforcement from doing their jobs correctly for fear of lawsuits and riots, allowing violent crimes to rise to all time highs. They'll learn how being Politically Correct allowed another 9/11 to happen. So forgive me or 1012 or anyone else who just so happens to make a comment that you consider to be along racial lines. I can't speak for them, but I am not a racist, but I refuse to be Politically Correct. I tell it like it is.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
Cincykidbc1 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI agree it looks really weird RIGHT NOW. I'm just saying, before I start being a critic, I'm going to wait to see what the entire project, including the finished Square, looks like. The video Board might look small now , but when the entire Square is finished, it might fit right on in. I'm just frustrated in the fact that nothing and I mean nothing positive can happen in Cincinnati without people putting negative spins on it. Like the $3 parking thing. OMG come on. If you can afford a computer to post your messages on here, then you can afford to pay $3 for parking.( Unless your at work, then my bad.) It gets old I tell ya. And there's nowhere you can go in this city to get away from it.

Cincykidbc1 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionCan't you guys just wait until their finished and then make judgements? I mean jeez, you've got almost a whole page discussing and complaining about a video board that noone is sure how the finished product will look like. So let's just wait and see and then you can bitch and complain.

A sniper rifle in the hands of a vigilante would be cheaper and probably get more drug dealers off the street.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Majewski sucks? Obviously Jerry Narron doesn't think so. He keeps running him out there in critical situations. If this team is lucky enough to make the playoffs or finish over .500 for that matter, it will be in spite of their manager who has proved to be pretty dumb. It is pretty clear that he manages with his heart and it's not working. It seemed like he wanted to show Majewski that he had confidence in him, so he sent him back out there to pitch the 8th inning and it blew up in his face.....again.... every time he makes decisions like this it doesn't work out and all the fans can see it coming....which begs the question. Can't the Reds just hire one of the fans to manage this team? I honestly think that someone sitting in the stands can make better decisions.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
That kid is a monster. He looks like he would be very intimidating to a hitter. Reds closer of the future? And for those who didn't like the trade consider this. Right field may be Ryan Freels now and they say its Chris Denorfias in the future ......but.... seeing as how Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns are best friends and Austin Kearns seemed to be very depressed about leaving the Reds, I wouldn't be surprised to see Austin Kearns in a Reds uniform again next year. ( His contract is up at the end of this year ) Also Adam Dunn is hitting so much better now that he has stopped swinging for the fences all the time. He's hitting so good now that I haven't heard anyone talk about wanting to trade him lately.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Thats what I was saying before about Jerry Narrons line-ups. Today(Sunday July23) he left Edwin Encarnacion out of the line-up ( he's only the hottest hitter on the team right now ) for Rich Aurilia who promptly went 0-4 in the game. I doubt one guy could have made a difference in the outcome, but it still doesn't make sense to me. In Saturday's game the reds had runners on 2nd and 3rd and Narron pinch hits for Scott Hatteberg who was 3-4 with 3 rbi's on the night. I don't get it.

I wish we could take a peek at what was proposed by these groups. If their designs are different from the original renderings, I'd like to see what they look like.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
The Reds may have jumped the gun on extending Narrons contract. It is half way through the year and we have yet to see a consistant line-up on the field. He's always saying how he wants to get this guy and that guy playing time. Who cares if a bench player doesn't play every other day. I want to see the best players on the field at all times. These guys don't need days off, it's baseball for crying out loud, the catcher is the only player that needs a day off every once in a while. I don't get it. If you really want to win games then you should play your best players all the time. Stop screwing with the line-up Jerry Narron. O.K. I'm done.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I can't see the committee NOT being satisfied with all 4 proposals. I have faith that at least one proposal will be more than satisfactory. I was not aware however, that the committee has not even met with any of these groups. There's no way it takes them 9 months to select a developer. When the committee was put together, everyone was critical of how long the process was taking up to that point. Then they said the project was on the fast track now that the committee was formed. If it takes 9 more months to select a developer that's obviously NOT the fast track and that is egg on the face of the creators of the committee and none of them want that.
