Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Time to revisit this post now that the season is over -Nope. Close, but nope. -Definitely not. It looked that way for maybe the first week of the season, then he settled back in to being TT. Maybe another summer working on shooting with the proper hand will help. -Kyrie did start the All-Star game -Sub in Dellavedova for Karasev. Sergei was not ready physically for the NBA. -That was an understatement, but correct. -Nope -At first this appeared to be wrong, but by the end of the season it was fairly accurate.... although his points went up with his efficiency. Over the last 15 games of the season, he averaged 21ppg, 4.5apg, 2.5rpg, while shooting 46%fg and 35%3pt. I actually think this had a lot to do with the Hawes acquisition. Nobody benefited more from having a big man that pulled the guy guarding him out of the lane. Dion can blow by anybody in the league. In fact, he might have the fastest and most explosive first step in the NBA..... no joke. His problem has always been finishing at the rim (and fading away on his jump shots). Not having that big body in there to make finishing difficult, was a huge benefit to Dion. I also think he really stepped up his defensive game as the season progressed.

Cleveland taxi cab stuff
Ugh, once again, I made the mistake of looking at the comments. I don't know what I was expecting. Internet comments sections are the new hang-outs for hateful bigots. It gives them freedom to say things they don't have the courage to say in public..... their true feelings. I try not to assign the thoughts and viewpoints expressed therein as being representative of the community at large, but it is cause for concern in terms of how little we have progressed on issues of tolerance..... especially race and sexual orientation. Cowards.

I would try (in this order): 1) Party supply centers 2) Caterers (even if you are not getting one, you can always ask) 3) Campgrounds (not sure if you'll be able to rent 'em, but they got 'em) I have to think, however, that the quality and craftsmanship of any such tables available for rent are going to leave more than a little something to be desired.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
^I took my son to see The Winter Soldier this past weekend. Much better than the first film. Maybe it was because it didn't have that cheesy 1940's vibe to it. I went on Friday and it was funny seeing that battle on Lakeside at the intersection with W. 3rd. I was literally crossing the street at that exact spot earlier that day.

I would guess that the crystals are going to literally outshine any detail they would have put on the base. But I also suspect they are worries about the chandellier's ability to survive Cleveland winters without wear and tear. The more details you put on it, the harder that will be.

I don't know anywhere to rent the wooden tables...... but I do know you can rent out picnic areas in the metroparks whcih would have that kind of seating capacity. In the Euclid Creek reservation, there is a nice, somewhat off-the-beaten-path (not along the main drag) picnic area where we had a graduation party last year.

Cleveland: One University Circle
^It sounds as if it is aimed at a different market than Intessa. I'm not sure about Phase III of Uptown. I don't recall any specifics on the type of units they were contemplating for that building...... or if construction on that site was even still being contemplated. Not to be too technical, but was Park Centre (Reserve Square) an apartment or condo building when first built. I thought they were condos at first. I seem to remember that some family friends of ours had bought two units and tore down the walls separating the two. Can't do that in an apartment building. If it was indeed a condo building(s), then what would be the last 20+ story apartment tower built in the City?

The Official 700 WLW Sucks Thread!
That makes sense. I've actually never listened to him and, for whatever reason, I get him confused with Don Imus...... who I was thinking of when I asked the question

Honestly, other than the cornice, it wasn't that bad. That said, the red brick is a significantly better look.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Idk. It's a ton of money (albeit only slightly more than Ryan Kahlil received from Carolina), but the Browns have it and obviously feel he's worth $9mill. They gave him a $10mill+ offer sheet. It's much more perplexing to me why Jax would offer that much money. I think there are several factors which increase Mack's value to our team. (1) He's extremely durable and doesn't miss games. (2) Continuity might be the most important factor in an offensive line's success. (3) In the modern NFL, the center is now responsible for calling out all of the blitzes and blocking schemes..... he is somewhat the QB of the offensive line. (4) With the league trending more and more towards a passing game, it is that much more important you have a middle of the line that doesn't allow the pocket to collapse (think back to the Tim Couch days). (5) Mack is IDEAL for the zone-blocking scheme due to his athleticism and ability to be effective at the second level of the defense.

Cleveland: One University Circle
You'd also have to account for the difference in ceiling heights between residential and office/hospital...... but I suspect you are right that this will clearly be the tallest. My guess is we are probably looking at between 275-325 ft...... somewhere in the neighborhood of 55 Public Square and amongst the Top 20 tallest buildings in the entire city

Cleveland: One University Circle
Nice. Will this become the tallest tower in UC? What is currently the tallest? The main UH tower? The new(er) CCF building? Tudor Arms? Intecontintal? I honestly have no idea. Lots of curved glass being added to the neighborhood over the past decade. This will probably need its own thread.

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
^I agree. This project was not done for aesthetics, but it is going to make this building look better IMHO. I never liked the old look and am hoping this new look adds some more diversity to our skyline.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
So it looks as if Mack is going to get the money he wants from Jacksonville. Something like $9mill per year with $20mill+ in guaranteed money. I think the Browns will match. It is a large contract and the largest for a center, but not all that out of whack with what the top centers are getting these days. Center has become a much more important position in the modern NFL. I also don't buy ESPN's 'rumors' about Mack wanting out of Cleveland. If he wanted out, he would've signed the one year tender and then would've been free to go wherever he wanted next summer. By doing this, he is exposing himself to being locked up as a Brown for a loooooong time.

Ohio Immigration
ha ha, very funny! But seriously, I guess life would be much simpler for me, if like you, my views could be informed by the kind of straightforward, knee-jerk one-size-fits-all rigidly partisan orthodoxy that characterizes your positions on all topics. Any day you want, I will put my record on this site of criticizing the current administration with your record of complimenting it. Let me know if you are up to the challenge. In fact, I'll let you include in your tally any criticism you've ever posted of any GOPer on this site and I'll limit my criticisms to just Obama. We'll see who fits that "one-size fits all rididly partisan orthodoxy"

Oh, just because I fully and ardently support gay rights, does not mean I bat for the same team as EVD

Ohio Immigration
Interesting. So you are in favor of amnesty. You are against voter ID laws, voter suppression, and other efforts designed to disenfranchise. I suppose next you are going to tell us that you are fully behind gay marriage and your 'fix' for the ACA is universal healthcare. All these years.... your schtick has been a farce. Amusing.

Ohio Immigration
^I don't have a response. Immigration is not one of the issues which I really follow closely. You won't find much of anything from me on it. From the little I do know, I would've thought someone like you would be firmly in his corner on these actions (putting aside that you wouldn't be in his corner if he shat gold and cured cancer). I didn't realize until today that you were in favor of lax interpretation and application of immigration laws and amnesty. Good for you. We might actually agree in principle on something. ^^I suppose it is just too bad that the latino community (in your mind at least) is not smart enough to see through these lies like good, God-fearing conservative America does

Ohio Immigration
Why are Republicans demonized on this issue? Seriously? Oh, nevermind. This clip offers some reasons.... http://www.thewire.com/entertainment/2014/02/jon-stewart-explains-one-thing-blocking-immigration-reform-republicans/357988/ On a related note, I am willing to bet that every single latino EVD and Co. know voted for Obama in 2012 and "won't be making the same mistake again" in 2016 by voting for another democrat. It'll be just like 2012 again!! :-D

People who have bounced between jobs are less likely to get hired. And water is wet. I won't dispute that. But the article is raising a different issue altogether

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Eaaaaasy Trigger. If they win more than thy lose to close the season, that would continue a relatively strong finish for the second youngest team in the league. Lets not be typical Cleveland sports fan who posts/says nothing during a good run and then fills a whole page when they lose. They've had some sustained success over the past 30 or so games

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
You're assuming these 'parking lot barons' are standing in the way of these lots being developed. Not true. Their have been several unexercised development options on these lots over the past 10 or so years. All the developer has to do is exercise the option.
