Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The one thing that Windy is right about is that Kyrie and Dion are not particularly mature 21 and 22 year olds (neither was I or most people at that age). But I think Windy's perspective on that subject is Lebron, who was more mature at 20 than most people are at 30. Something was up last night..... not sure what.... but I thought to myself right from the start that the team didn't have that pep in their step they've been playing with. It may have had something to do with the rumors. Add to that Atlanta came out smoking hot and then got a huge boost off the bench from some no-name guy who couldn't miss whatever he threw at the hoop. I'd still like to finish the season strong, to carry the momentum into next season. As for this summer, I also agree with Windy that if Kyrie balks at signing a max, full 5 year deal, then the team needs to ship him. I would give him the 5yr deal. Pretty sure I've seen him look great when its not all-star weekend...... probably the reason he was voted into the game as a starter.

Columbus: Hotels, Conventions and Tourism News & Info
Didn't give Tampa the boot and they have less downtown hotel rooms than Columbus. But Tampa has all of those strip club shuttles which I'm sure more than made up for it in the eyes of the TPTB at the RNC. Having no tit-bits near Dowtown was probably a major factor for C-Bus's elimination. Frankly, I'm surprised Cincy made the cut for the same reason.

^That movie was more than a little extreme, but I get your point. And it's not just rural areas. I remember it being around 2001 or so and I had been living the 'slow-life' down south for a few years when I came back to Cleveland to find an invasion of black leather jackets (not bombers) and black rimmed glasses. I nearly panicked until I made it over to the near west side to find that the 80's time warp was still alive and well with the mullets / mud-flaps hangin' tough..... the men also seemed to be styling their hair the same. F'in Tremont, OC, and D-S ruined that in short order. Now the hipsters and metros (and odd combinations of both) are EVERYwhere.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
^I think what the article is referencing is 'minimal qualifications' to get these jobs in the first place, not a high turnover rate for those who already met the minimum qualifications and were hired.

It's an interesting dynamic because the movie, to the best of my knowledge, is not an 'era piece'....... yet it seems like it is supposed to take place in some small community which has been stuck in a 1980's timewarp. I can't imagine that many millenials take much notice of half the shite in that movie which is from my generation (X). The tacky clothes and styles, virtually everything inside his grandmother's home from the phone to the furniture, the walkman, trapper-keepers, the soundtrack..... nearly everything is from the 80's.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I might've taken "always" a little too literally. But you can't look at preseason. That means shite. The record is also misleading because it is a team sport and the last game, for example, it was Big Al, not Kemba, who killed us. "Outplaying" is a strong term. They've been fairly even.... with Kyrie closer to Kemba than Kemba has been to Kyrie in the two prior years. Kemba played better the first game and third games and Kyrie probably played better in the second game.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Kyrie and Kemba entered the league in the same year. Kemba was older and more experienced, of course, coming into the league having spents three years at UConn. He is indeed pesky and one helluva scorer.... which is why he was a top 10 pick despite falling short of 6 feet tall. Kyrie has not had his best games against Charlotte this year, but I'm not convinced that is because of Kemba. When you take their stats from the Cavs vs. Bobcats games since those two came into the league, here is what you get Kyrie - 18.8ppg 6.1apg 3.5rpg 47%fg Kemba - 14.5ppg 5.5apg 2.6rpg 37%fg The Cavs are 5-4 in those games. That doesn't seem like Kemba is getting the best of him in head-to-head matchups. I'll concede that if you isolate this year, Kemba's stats are better and Charlotte has won all three games. But I'll go ahead and say that 3 games is an awfully small sample size to make that judgment.

The Knicks do, yes. For now. That could change. The two teams split the season series. I believe the second tie breaker is conference record, where the Knicks have the lead at the moment EDIT - the Knicks have a relatively sizeable 3 game lead in conference records. It's one of those things where we are actually going to get punished for being the better team against the waaaaaaaaay better conference (The West)

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Cavs have now won 5 of their last 6 and are 15-12 since Grant was fired. The team is finally starting to play like I thought they could/would at the beginning of the year. Just 2 games back for the final playoff spot, with a matchup against Atlanta on Friday. The problem is that the NY Knicks are scorching hot and are tied with Atlanta for the final spot after trouncing Brooklyn last night. The Knicks remaining schedule is filled with playoff teams, but only one of those games (Miami) is against an elite team. The remaining games, I believe, are against the likes of Washington, Toronto (Lowry just got hurt), Brooklyn (again), and some other more middle of the road teams. I don't like our chances of closing the gap with the Knicks, but I'll certainly enjoy my team playing meaningful games in the last few weeks of the season.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
New bleachers, turf field, and track for the stadium at the high school http://www.cleveland.com/cleveland-heights/index.ssf/2014/04/heights_high_football_stadium.html#incart_river_default The new bleachers are sorely needed. I was talking at a game with a few people last year about how much 'give' there was in the wood as you walked along those bleachers to your seat. The metal frame was OK, but the wood platforms you actually walked on had to be cause for concern, especially given the size of the crowds lately which have filled the bleachers to the point where people arriving late were made to stand along the fence. The Glenville game was particularly packed, with people standing almost all the way around the track, as was the playoff game against St. Edward a few years ago. I'm not sure how I feel about the turf. I assume it will be similar to what they used at Denison, which I like. But I'm just a natural grass kinda guy for football. Before they do this, I'm gonna have to go and pick out a few momentos..... to remember the glory days when I'm old and fat.

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
What's the difference? Argument in a parking lot results in the victim getting shot.... or at least that is all that can be inferred from the reports. Seems like the same story, albeit the media will give more than a passing mention to the Bath Twp incident given the identity of the victim.

I didn't allege any automatic correlation. I was simply pointing out that you have to be careful to laud good stats on horrible teams. I think we can safely say that, if both were available, the trade market would be a wee bit stronger for Kyrie than it would be for Sims. When playing in the same system under the same conditions, Sims' stats were no better than Tyler's
-
Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^Has Philly even come within 10 points of winning any of those games? Do you remember when Ricky Davis averaged 20/5/5 for the Cavs?
-
Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^Sims is much more physically limited than Tyler. And I'm not so sure Tyler wouldn't be putting up similar numbers if given the same opportunity for the Sixers. Inflated stated on horrible teams are routine in the NBA. Don't get me wrong.... I'm no big fan of Tyler, but I do think he has a much higher ceiling than Sims.

I'm more worried about catching the Knicks than the Hawks. I know ATL holds the tie breaker with us, but not sure about NYK. We split the season series with them

It was a BW3. The space mightve been filled by abother wing joint at one time or another in its history, but no doubt was a BW3 in the 90's

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
Welcome to government work. Your tax dollars in action. One day at a time.... This is a little bit more involved than simply mounting glass panels on to an existing structure. We've seen long delays in private developments - 668, Schofield, etc. - and we've seen government projects move rapidly - new county admin building. I guess it needs repeating, even on here, that you can't always judge the progress of construction projects by looking at pictures. The Terminal Tower clean-up took longer.

What was the workforce numbers at its peak and what is it now?

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
^True. But Superior through PS is part of The Grand Army of the Republic Highway (US 6) covering several thousand miles, right? And 422 is a few hundred mile spur of US 22 which ends at Ontario/Lakeside. US 6 would have to be rerouted, whereas US 422's western edge can simply be adjusted a few hundred yards with this planned closure. I'd guess that the former involves a lot more red tape.

I was talking about the left side. I'm not sure about Greco in the zone scheme and have never been a big Pinkston fan. Both might be better used as our utility linemen.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Maybe "daytime pop" includes visitors and other people who wouldn't count towards the workforce numbers? That could explain some of the disparity, but it would still seem to be off... significantly. There has to be more than 40,000 workers. Maybe they meant to say 8.4%? That would seem about right.

I still think they need another G (or OT if they plan to move Schwartz inside).

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
^That general pattern has always been the case. There have always been young people who want to live in downtown areas and there have always been some not-so-young people who have chosen to stay in downtown areas despite having kids. The point you are missing is that there is a noticeable trend, albeit hardly changing the overall pattern, which has caused more people to want to live in denser, more walkable areas. No twisting of the facts can refute that. It's arithmetic.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
There has unquestionably been a shift towards urban living caused by the millenials and Gen Y'ers. Part of it is younger people understanding better that density, cities, and urban areas are not the enemies of the green movement. My generation believed 'green living' was accomplished through garden style apartments with lots of 'greenery.'
