  1. I guess I had that backwards all these years. Come to think about it, now I remember finding some extremely nice and cheap houses in the CH parts of Forest Hills but they were in the EC school district. So I guess it's only South Euclid that has parts in the CH-UH SD?
  2. "narcotica"? Was it the good stuff or just your average shwag?
  3. Many "up the hill" parts of EC, if not all of it, are already in the CH school district and that is not going to change regardless of whether Cleveland absorbs all or some of EC. Point being, the property tax revenue for all those nice houses would remain with CH.
  4. ^Most of the stories I hear date back at least 15 years. I did see a black couple eating down there last summer or the summer before. I do believe things have changed... but, then again, it is never one of my suggestions when we go out to eat with black friends.
  5. Presently, maybe so. But not historically and certainly not historically (or presently, if you believe E Rocc's assessment) for certain large segments of the city's population.
  6. I wonder how that affects the Beckham/LBJ rumblings about a team in Miami.

I'm mixed. He's certainly getting paid to do better than he is and it certainly was his choice to come out after his freshman year. But he is just so young and I imagine his confidence is as fragile as an egg at the moment. Regardless of whether the fans are right or wrong to boo him, he NEEDS TO STOP LAUNCHING 3-pointers. He can't even make lay-ups at the moment! On another note......dear lord I wish Bradley Beal could have fallen to us last year....

I don't hate him. He makes me laugh sometimes with his dunce routine. I want to reach through the radio and smack him sometimes, but I don't hate him :) I save my hate for a select few.

When is the last time you heard him spend more than 5 minutes actually talking about sports? 2008?
  10. Nothing happens overnight. A realistic vision for UC/EC involves the triangle created by Superior and Euclid. UC could certainly spend the next several decades gradually gentrifying that area. They've already started, in fact, with the townhomes on the western edge of EC. CH would not be interested in anything not already in its school district or under its police patrol..... basically, only the areas south of Terrace
  11. The possibilities are hardly limited to street gang and suburban kid. But, regardless of whoever it is, I HIGHLY doubt that some unrealized fear of LI is factoring into their mind. I know when I was in high school there was a general conception that certain people were not welcome in LI, but it wasn't like anyone was actually scared of what might happen to them if they did go down there. It ain't the 60's anymore
  12. Thanks JJ..... that HEK thing was on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn't recall the specifics. But yep.... that's about what I'm imagining is going on here.

Very few and far between are voters who pay any attention to who the Lt Governor is.....

What is the claimed 'justification' for this move?

All I have ever heard him do is defend Modell's moving of the Browns
  16. This makes extended the sin tax all that much more important. The City will have to make some significant and potentially disastrous budget cuts if the tax is not extended.

^Because Triv's hate for Haslam and love for the Lerner and Modell families gives Polensik a sympathetic ear to his stance on the issue. Regardless, it is a City, not county (i.e. surburban) issue. The City owns the stadium and the City will be paying a share of the renovation, not the county. People get confused because Gateway is owned by the County, but CBS is owned by the City.
  18. Simple common sense. (a) we don't have much of a gang issue in Cleveland (b) the gangs we do have don't have "turf" or a burning desire to "tag" their turf like you see much more commonly from West Coast gangs © the nearest gangs to LI who would even bother themselves to think about "turf", if there are any in close proximity, are at a minimum 1 mile away in any direction (d) Gangs claim their home turf, not some remote area in which they don't live or hang out (such as LI) The way to bet on this one is some rogue 13 or 14 year old kid(s) who think of themselves as graffiti artists. And my money would be on some local LI kid, not someone traveling in from another neighborhood.

^^but yet Rich Gannon was extremely critical of Campbell's timid play. I've been saying it all year..... NFL QBs have to be able to trust that their WRs will "win" the ball. You need receivers who can make catches no matter whether they are open or not. If you watch Rogers play for GB, you can see several passes each game which would be picked if his WR's don't fight through the DB and go get the ball. When u have guys like Gordon and Little matched up against some 5'9 DB, you have to be able to trust them to win the 50/50 ball. That said, I am wondering if Campbell's rib injuries hindered his ability to throw deep. Someone was on the radio yesterday sayig that Campbell was grimacing during warmups
  20. We're now hoping for some mafia-esque violence against vandals? And we're thinking some "gang" is trying to claim LI as its "turf"? Smdh
  21. Agreed, Keith. This move wouldn't be about a direct and immediate net fiscal gain. If it was, EC would have zero incentive. It would be about stabilizing a very volatie and poisonous area which currently has virtually no police presence and which Cleveland surrounds on 3 sides.
  22. And when exactly does your married (to a cop) ex-girlfriend point this out to you ;) Yes, there is a distinction between robbery and theft. I was speaking more in general terms of stealing cell phones, which are often taken without threat or force, and theft is the general term applicable to a wider range of property crimes. The situation with your niece might actually be more properly categorized as larceny, not robbery, in most jurisdictions. It would only be robbery if your niece gave the thief the phone under threat. If he demands the phone and she hands it over it is robbery. But getting what happened to her is more akin to being pick-pocketed and by snatching the phone out of her hand, before she had a chance to object, it is larceny. But the value of the phone (if over $500) would make it grand larceny. I'm sure some prosecutor could make the argument it rises to the level of robbery and the cops might even charge the suspect with both if caught. Regardless, the point I was making is that stealing a smart phone is not a petty offense. It is a felony in many circumstances, and the dividing line is determined by the value of the phone, not any discounted price you might have paid for it.
  23. The crazy thing about these phone thiefs is that, with rising costs of smartphones, they are committing grand theft most likely. And I agree that the phone companies are actually benefiting from this..... not only do they get a new customer, the victim has to buy a new phone

I don't know about that. Weeden had 289yds 1TD 3INT vs Miami...... 227yds 0TD and OINT vs Baltimore...... and 292yds 2TD 2INT vs Detroit. He was heavily criticized after each one of those losses. I too wish CBS would have shown more downfield. It was impossible to tell whether the WRs were blanketed or whether Campbell was just not pulling the trigger.
