  1. Here's some good UO trivia I heard on the radio before the game yesterday. Most teams in the NFL represent a specific City or State (i.e. the Cleveland Browns or the Minnesota Vikings). There are three teams which represent a "region"....... three very different "regions." One is obvious, the other somewhat obvious, and one is fairly hard to get (although I suspect it won't be very difficult for this board). Have at it. CDM in 3, 2, 1......
  2. It's been a long time since Rotsky was at Maple. I think we can bury the comparisons by now. Certainly, we don't need to discuss it every five or so posts. He's older, more seasoned, and has a larger talent pool at CH to work with. Sideline discipline was never really a problem at CH. Maybe it was at MH. The issue which always held CH back was that some of the top athletes did not play football (basketball coach really discouraged his guys playing football) and the off-season weight program sucked. There were probably only about 5 kids from my class who were consistently in the weight room. Of course, we had a few kids who could bench 300 without any prior training. It would have been nice to see those kids get pushed. That is where Rotsky has made the biggest difference.
  3. ^The NC game is not picked like a lot of other bowls based on, the event of a reletaive "tie", which team would bring the largest crowd contingent. OSU needs two of the three teams ahead of them to lose in order to play in the NC game. If they win out and two of the other three win out, then OSU won't be playing for the trophy. They won't leap frog any of the teams in the polls and our weak strength of schedule prevents us from gaining on the computer points. FSU is in the same boat to a certain extent. Their SOS down the stretch is not good, at least not compared to Oregon's. If Oregon wins out, they will surely jump over FSU to play 'Bama for the crown.
  4. Maybe blow out isn't the right description. But they did jump all over them, leading 23-0 at the half. Glenville did cut it to 9 in the 3rd, but then Eds sealed it and coasted to victory. Eds was clearly the better team that day. Glenville is about as top heavy as it has been since the Ginn/Hiley/Lenix team with Marshon Lattimore and Erik Smith perhaps being the two of the best Sr. prospects in the area or maybe even the entire state (Berger, the LB from Iggy, and his teammate OT Jim Byrne are right there with them), but the depth is lacking and I thought that was the difference against Eds.

^You mean Campbell. But yes.... you could hear that 'air sucking' through the TV
  6. ^It has nothing to do with Rotsky's style. The lines have been fairly good at CH since he arrived. It's just an off-year for them due to graduations the past few years with nobody to from this year's upper classes to fill their shoes. ^^Glenville wasn't playing well at the beginning of the year. They were blown out by Eds and nearly lost to Solon. They got their rythym back in the second half against CH. Alot of it, IMO, had to do with them realizing how good that RB they plucked out of South Carolina can be for them.

I think there may be something to the thought that the extra bulk is affecting his game, but nothing I don't think he will adjust to. To clear up something up thread, Michael Carter-Williams was the 11th overall pick in the first round..... not an 11th round pick. And if he keeps up this level of play, you can feel free slap my face and call me Sally. He was one of the top PGs in the draft for a reason, but he is not THIS good. And please stop with the Kemba bandwagon. He is what he is.... a very good sparkplug type as a vastly undersized SG. He is a notch below Kyrie. That much has been established over their first two years in the league, even though Kemba was a four year college player and Kyrie played 11 games at Duke.
  8. Speaking of nitpicking..... ;) But since we are at it, the Euclid Creek cuts in right about in the middle of South Euclid. It is just as easily accessible from the southern parts as it is the northern half.
  9. How would you write the code specifically?

All this D needs is a good game-manager at QB. Campbell has proved to be that..... although he has certainly gotten lucky a few times with balls that could have been picked. I don't know how many 3 TD, 0 INT games we can expect out of a guy whose career was never highlighted by a good TD-INT rate. No.... it was the same play. There just wasn't a defender close enough to cut in front of it. Luckily Ed Reed is no longer with the Ravens..... that is the type of pick-6 he routinely made against us to win the game I think what really makes him look better is actually catching balls that hit him on the hands. But celebrating first downs more ethusiastically than most players celebrate touchdowns or getting PFs which negate the gains he just made are not good lasting images. I love his toughness, but he needs to 'stay in his lane'
  11. Unfortunately, CH doesn't have the horses to do much in the playoffs. They have GREAT skill position players, but the lines are lacking compared to years past. Glenville pretty much had their way with them up front and Glenville's lines are not as good this year as they have been previously. Heights can certainly beat most any public school which will make the DI playoffs (Glenville is in DII this year), but won't be able to man up against the likes of Eds, Iggy, or the Cincy catholic schools. Too much depth up front on those teams.

That's all it is at this point.... shots not falling, especially for Kyrie. 3 games, however, is WAY too small a sample size to be overly concerned.

I'm not sure what is up with Kyrie's shot. He hasn't been himself in terms of getting the ball to fall in somehow someway since he came back from injury late last season. If Kyrie is Kyrie, we win against Charlotte. Indiana is really tough.... very reminiscent of those Miami and NYK teams from the 90's that would just beat the sh!t out of you. I predict they will finish with the best record in the Eastern Conference and give Miami all it can handle in the playoffs again. CJ is 27 or 28, I believe. He came into the league straight out of HS, so he is a vet at this point. Dion is still very young. I understand the fear, and hold it myself to a degree. But we still have another year or two to know what Dion is going to be. When he calms down and plays under control, you can see that he does stuff that CJ simply can't. For comparison's sake, take a look at James Harden... who might be the best SG in the league at the moment. His first two years in the league he averaged 9.9ppg 40%FG and 12.2ppg 43%FG. Dion averaged 14.7ppg 41%FG his rookie year. After his first two years, a lot of people were saying that Harden was a bust as the #3 overall pick.... especially after seeing several guards chosen after him - Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, DeMar Derozen, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, Darren Collison - all having much more successful starts to their careers. Harden's averages then went up to 17ppg and 26ppg in his third and fourth years as a pro. Besides Curry, there is no argument that Harden is head and shoulders above the rest of those players from his draft class. Dion's #1 obstacle right now is his feud with the refs. He whines about calls he shouldn't get and, consequently, doesn't get the calls he should get. He then gets flustered and stops playing with that swagger which makes him stand out. It's getting worse, too. He's seems to have been black listed by the refs. He's getting called for the slightest ticky-tack fouls and isn't getting the whistle on the other end unless it is totally blatant. Lebron faced a bit of this early in his career. I am not sure what turned it around for him (it certainly wasn't that he just shut up and played), but I doubt Dion can count on the same intervening forces. He just needs to shut up and play.
  14. Wasn't Acacia gifted to the Metroparks by that NY fund? I think my vote is partially out of spite; the other part (a not insignificant part, no less) is based on my frustration with the decisions being made by the organization. And yes I'm aware that they have made some investments in areas closer to the city core, but I still don't think it's serving all constituents, particularly when it's running parks in places like Willoughby Hills and Hinckley. In a lot of ways, residents of large portions of Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, and South Euclid, all of University Heights and Shaker Heights would be better off not paying into the MetroParks, instead keeping this money to fund parks in their own respective communities. Each of these cities already has or will have their own "park system," imagine what they could do with even more money. Not to harp on this, but perhaps Cleveland Heights and South Euclid could have pooled this saved money to pay for preservation of Oakwood. Parks are assets to communities and a positive contribution to quality of life. I support that completely, which is why I'm still upset about Oakwood which is within walking distance of my residence. What I don't support is the conflation of politics with conservation, and the MetroParks have failed to keep their nose clean in that regard. The bottom line is that as an inner-ring eastern suburban resident, I just don't see this organization as serving my interests at all. Before Oakwood, I was happy to support them even though I rarely used their parks. Now I'm just really questioning what benefit they bring to my neighborhood and the surrounding communities. We're essentially subsidizing recreation areas for outer-ring residents. South Euclid has a very nice metropark largely within its borders. It and Lyndhurst also have a plethora of recently made parkland (Bolton, Anderson, Lowden) which has yet to be built out after the demolition of several old elementary schools. Beachwood now has one which abuts its northern border (Acacia). I would suggest focusing on the Metroparks' actions, not their non-actions. There were a lot of forces at play in the Oakwood deal. Absent a land conservation fund coming in and buying the land (as what happened with Acacia), I doubt the Metroparks had the available resources to make the most competitive bid.
  15. Don't vote out of spite

^^TT didn't look much better at the beginning of his rookie season. Hell.... he didn't look much better at the start of last season. Buy yeah, AB needs to come back down to earth and learn that he will never reach All-Star status trying to be the next Steve Novak. He looks flustered right now. We haven't seen any of the talent and athleticism which made him the #1 pick. We will. He's very 'green.' It is going to take some patience... especially playing in Mike Brown's system. Speaking of playing flustered, Dion needs to chill. He has to stop worrying about the refs and just play. I love CJ, but I'm not falling for the trap. When we signed him, I saw several comments by Utah fans calling him a "tease"..... in that he was always having random games or streaks of games in which he seemed to be finally developing into a legit starter (something I fear may prove true with Dion over time). Plus, he's in a contract year. He's still relatively young, but I foresee a productive future for him in his present role as a scorer off the bench.
  17. Larger place? Was it the size of a coat closet? Idk if things have changed in the past 10-15 years, but the Exec Den on Marginal was never known for its shoulder room. There definitely was one on Bolivar where Tops and Bottoms is now. http://m.yelp.com/biz/downtown-den-gateway-cleveland. Maybe it moved around before closing
  18. ^Aren't they building a new high school. Probably there. ^^CM is tough this year. Erik Glover-Williams is tiny, but still a beast. He's the only junior signed by OSU as of right now.
  19. ^Pretty sure you are confusing that with the Downtown Crazy Horse (or Golden Horse..... whatever). I seem to remember passing by the Executive [something] on Bolivar when cutting though the garage to get to the Q..... right where Tops and Bottoms is now
  20. ^I am not on a good roll as far as being right in identifying these clubs, but I 'believe' that Tops and Bottoms used to be called the Executive Den or Executive Lounge and did have some connection to 'the Euclid Ballet'..... this would have been about 5 years back
  21. Some movie is going to want to use it while filming downtown. Hollywoood loves a good 'swinging from the chandellier' scene.
  22. ^I highly doubt those were "men".... teens most likely. I think that is the first I have heard of bag snatching on Halloween since the 80's.
  23. Ahhh.... Ultra is the club that had that infamous Braylon punching Lebron's friend incident? Isn't that closer to the 600 block? If so, wouldn't Tops and Bottoms be closer to this actual shooting?
  24. Trend or not, it was only a matter of time with Benjamin IMHO. I assume everyone saw the video of the toddler who wore the glow in the dark Travis Benjamin costume for Halloween?
  25. Ouch. Even as a Browns fan, I am forced to respect Atkins and the huge impact he has on the game. Best 4-3 DT in the league if you were to ask me. Possibly top 10 player in the league. The other DLineman are going to find their jobs to be much harder without Atkins commanding a double team on every play.
