Sure..... but he also does quite well beating road-grading RT's with his speed. He'll do fine either way. I am not worried about him matching up 'on the line of scrimmage.' I'm worried about his ability to drop into coverage.

You're probably right on Sheard. Taking a look at the Cardinals depth chart linked below, the sizes of the their defensive starter were: NT - 6'2 327 DT - 6'4 290 DE - 6'8 300 ROLB - 6'3 257 LOLB - 6'3 265 http://www.azcardinals.com/team/depth-chart.html I suppose I'm just still trying to convince myself that they will find a way to continue keeping Taylor and Rubin on the field at the same time and keep Sheard's hand in the dirt. It's frustrating. We FINALLY assembled a D-line that could pressure the QB with just a 4-man rush and now we are re-inventing the wheel :(

^This year. We WILL eventually get a 1st rounder from them. It eventually loses its protection (no protection in 2019 iirc). The pick that is up in the air is the "right to swap" we have with the Lakers from the Sessions trade. We have the right to swap any of our picks (including the one Miami owes us) for their pick so long as it is not in the lottery. If they don't make the playoffs this year and/or we don't exercise our option to swap, then the right to swap expires. There is no carryover into future years.
  4. Severance is a poorly managed sh!thole, both as a whole and the individual stores. Maybe this will provide the necessary kick in the arse to do something transformative. I actually think that WalMart has been a net negative and am glad to see it go (albeit just around the corner)

Good to see the Cavs open up a can of u-know-what on one of the bottom feeders.... well, actually THE bottom feeder. Something has definitely clicked. I suspect there is a little friendly rivalry going between the starters and bench as to who is going to play better each game and it is paying off. We have a lot of raw talent in the starting lineup and then the bench is supplying the necessary veteran presence. I agree that there should be a rule against mentioning Ryan Hollins. I once saw/heard a scouting report on him that was something like...... legit 7footer, mobile, runs like a deer, jumps out of the gym, extremely athletic and nimble for his size, lacks basketball skills

A sign? I thought they were pretty upfront about the switch. And I actually think that Jabaal sticks at DE. Horton's defense, like a lot of "3-4" systems nowadays, uses a NT, a DT, and a DE...... as opposed to a NT and two DE's. Because the NT won't be in a "0" technique (i.e. right over center), the DE can play a little more outside than a more traditional 3-4 DE. Also, if you remember, Jabaal just didn't fit when they put him at rush end. Although not that big, he is strong as a bull and his play really took off once they moved him over to the strong side.

This gave me a good laugh the other day. My son is really big into superhero movies and was watching the original Spiderman movie with Tobey McGuire. Now, for those who watch the HBO shows, notice who plays Flash (it's Alcide from True Blood). But what really gave me a chuckle was the current "envy of all men" who pops into the picture at 2:53..... :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMzqvxXRXM4x

Kasich undoubtedly 'moved toward the middle' with this budget proposal.
  9. With the two new commits today, we are now ahead of TTUN in the team rankings for all of the major recruiting services, and #1 overall on Scout.com
  10. It appears that The Urb nabbed two more big-time recruits today. One of them - Vonn Bell - might end up being the prize of the entire class. He is a safety from Georgia and has a top rating from every scouting service I have seen. The other, James Clark, is a WR out of Florida who is also highly regarded. Earlier this we go a Texas speedster - Dontre Wilson - to switch his committment from Oregon to us. He reconsidered his decision after Chip Kelly bolted for the NFL. I suspect that Clark and Wilson committing might be a signal that some earlier verbal might be going elsewhere (EDIT - suspicion confirmed now that I notice that Taivon Jacobs has switched to Maryland).

I think the sentiment is that although they left the name, colors, etc..... they did take the soul of our franchise with them to Baltimore and we've never got it back...... that nasty, hit you in your mouth, run it down your throat style of football that was the trademark of Browns football going back to the beginnings of the franchise. If they wouldn't have left, do you think Modell does not hire Ozzie? Do they not draft Ogden, Lewis, Reed, etc.?

I'm sure Speights saw opportuninity. But I wouldntt be overly optimistic going into the offseason with him. With the role he is playing, he is upping his value by the day. The man wants to get paid this summer and playing sparingly behind Randolph and Gasol wasn't going to get him the contraact he wants. Of course he wanted to come here.

Not to sound too cliche, but this team has a tendency to play up or down to the level of competition. Kyrie showed his all-star status last night. He closed out the game like him and only a small handfull of players in the league can. But it really was the bench that was the difference, as it has been in recent past wins. My man Mo Speights was en feugo. Livingston's defense is off the charts good. And CJ Miles might be going on another one of his 5-6 game hot streaks. The starters fell behind in both halfs (nothing to be ashamed about against OKC) and the bench got us back into the ballgame both times.
  14. No offense fellas, but if I got my money on the L's

I don't think you can judge Byron Scott on wins and losses. They've handed him a team devoid of any veteran leadership, especially now that Andy is lost for the season. He has to be judged on player development at this point. The three main components on the current roster minus AV are now Kyrie, Dion, and Tristan...... who all should still be juniors in college. When your veterans 'leaders' are Luke Walton and Shaun Livingston, winning ain't on the agenda. I truly believe the Cavs looked at their roster and options and consciously decided that they needed one more year in the lottery. They were underwhelmed by this past year's draft and they are not going to be delusional anymore about getting their elite talent through free agency. Nearly every elite player in the league was a lottery pick and almost always a top 10 pick. The arguably elite players still active and not picked in the lottery (Nash, Parker, Rondo) were all PGs and I think we're pretty much set at that position.
  18. They've also had some of the strictest gun laws. But, unfortunately, closely borders a state (Indiana) which has very lax gun laws and more gun shows than you can shake an extended clip at. Top 10 states for gun violence per capita are Louisiana, S. Carolina, Maryland, Missouri, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Pennsylvania

Whlie Speights has been in the league long enough to be called a veteran, he really is only in his mid-20s. I'm surprised about the lack of difference in weight. I wonder if Speights has updated his since being drafted. I will also guess that Speights' effective "basketball height" is on par or greater than Zeller. Tyler has short arms and a long neck. EDIT: confirmed.... Speights' standing reach is a full 2 inches higher than Zeller's

Speights looks real good in a Cavs uni. We desperately needed someone with his size and 'no back down' mentality.

The new CBA changes things. No team will be able to do what Miami did a few years ago offering near max contracts to 3 players. This is what forced OKC to trade Harden. Congrats to Kyrie. He is without a doubt an "All-Star"........ but I had assumed the coaches were going to bypass him due to the teams record. I suppose it didn't hurt that he dropped 40 on Boston the night before final ballots were due
  23. I was actually referring to the renderings above that last one..... but after looking again, that might just be a brick colored paint?
