I've seen numbers (and maybe these are guesses at what the final total will be) that have the costs of military adventurism in the Middle East in the past decade sitting closer to $3 or $4 trillion. I have seen those numbers too...... but the calculations included long-term care for wounded soldiers who were made life-long dependents due to their injuries.

Did Wall Street really want Dodd-Frank?

^^Yup. Do they have influence, probably even too much influence? Absolutely. But it is Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street worthy to say they "own" the two political parties or "control" the politicians.

Major reasons for recent increases in the national debt are listed below. It's not as tin-foil hat worthy as some might like, but it is not as complicated as you might think: - The Great Recession - $?? (this would include $800 billion stimulus, $400 billion Obama tax cuts, and $200 billion financial industry bailout, but does not account for the wealth which just evaporated into thin air when the crisis hit and the lost revenue which followed all of the layoffs and business closings) - Bush tax cuts which were debt financed - $1.6 trillion - The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - $1.3 trillion (and rising) - The massive rise in health care costs over the past 10 years - $1.1 trillion - Medicare Part D which was debt financed - $300 billion- Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)

Here's what I would suggest Surf: 1 charcoal suit (solid, stiped, or patterned) 1 black suit (solid) 1 other suit (blue or brown.... solid, striped or patterned) 1 navy blazer (solid) 1 patterned blazer in neutral colors 1 pair of gray slacks 1 pair of kakhi slacks * either of these should match with either blazer One black belt and shoes One brown belt and shoes Two or three v-neck sweaters which you can wear over a shirt and tie Also, you want to make sure you have both standard collar dress shirts and the ones that button down...... the latter for the days when wearing a tie is not necessary. I would suspect all of the above could run you between $1500 and $2000 depending on whether you are mindful of where/when you buy.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Get ready for several months of Andy trade rumors. I expect OKC and Boston to be among the top suitors, given that they have some young talent and enticing draft picks to offer. From a business perspective, it makes sense. And I would love to see AV get a chance to play for a title. But it still pains me to think where this team would be without him. He has nine straight games of 15 or more rebounds. His stat line from the last 5 games is...... 15/22, 20/18, 20/18, 19/17, and 17/18. That's insane.- In CLE: need advise with new business attire

Thanks. Have you had good experiences at Men's Wearhouse? The suits pass grade. Not as good as JAB or Dilliards or Nordstrom, IMO, but that is reflected in the pricing. However, I have had some bad experiences with MW's in house tailors. In fact, I had sworn off MW for awhile until someone got me a gift card. So I went back, but I took the suit to my own tailor- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^^I think you've framed the issues correctly, Hoot. There are several of them. The shooting itself may not be the biggest one. The police firing their service revolver is always a split second decision. No matter what may have led them to that point, including any misinformation given, at least most of those cops were of the mindset that they were in a high-speed chase of suspect armed with deadly force weapons and willing to use them. When the cops had them boxed in, the car was turned into a deadly weapon and the cops were forced to make a split second decision which you simply can't judge with 20/20 hindsight. But, that said, I must admit that there appears to be a lot of unanswered questions as to how it got that far. I certainly hope that the origins/cause of the chase turn out to be as initially reported by the police.- In CLE: need advise with new business attire

^^If you have an "athletic" shape, slim cut suits may or may not work for you. The problem is that they are slim everywhere and if you have decent shoulders, the suit won't be comfortable. Of course, you will know this just by slipping the jacket on at the store. The two hardest things to adjust on a suit are the shoulders and the crotch (front pocket to front pocket), so make sure the fit is right in those two parts no matter what other tailoring is planned. Finding the right sale is key. A store like JAB will have buy one, get two free sales every few months or so. You may have to pay about $800 for the first suit, but getting the other two free makes the pricing more reasonable. I would bet you will find some great deals after XMas around New Year's day. FWIW, I think you can have a functional business wardrobe in our field of work with 3 suits, 2 blazers/sport jackets and a few pairs of mix and match slacks to go with the jackets.- In CLE: need advise with new business attire

^Was the bullet shot "at" a cop or did the cops who were outside the justice center just hear a gunshot and thought it came from the guy's Malibu?- Cleveland Browns Discussion
I think that is more 'bout the trend in the NFL towards much more pass-happy offenses considering that 3 of the 4 on the list are from the past two years. Still impressive, but some perspective is needed. For example, 3 of the top 5 single season passing yardage records for any QB (rookie or veteran) were from 2011.- Cleveland Browns Discussion
I actually think Weeden has a good feel for the pocket and steps up nicely to help his OL out. He also is a decent, but far from great, scrambler when the pocket breaks down. What he doesn't do well at all from a footwork perspective is back-pedal. He doesn't get into his set quick enough. I'm not sure that can be fixed as it might be a physical limitation we have to deal with. However, this is his first year under center because OK St.'s offense was run out of the shotgun, so backpedaling was not really needed. I can see the 'gunslinger' analogy with Favre. I would say probably half of Weeden's picks this year have been either because his arm was hit or the ball was tipped. Then there are also times the casual fan probably can't pick out where the WR ran the wrong route. It is still a pick, but point is that not all of them have been due to blatant misreads or errors. I must say though that Weeden's accuracy has been a bit of a letdown. I thought that was going to be his strength, but he just 'misses' on more throws than I would have expected when we drafted him.- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Did they ever find the gun?- Cleveland Browns Discussion
Looks like our much-criticized WR corps is slowly but steadily becoming a strength. I don't know about the rest of you, but I won't shed one tear when we are passed over in the 2nd round of the draft this year. Gordon is a can't miss 1st round talent and was well worth the supplemental pick we spent on him. Little may have played his best overall game as a Brown, with the type of YAC yards H&H imagined when they drafted him, catching the ball with his hands, and an absolutely devastating downfield block which sprung MoMass for another 20-30 yards. Both of these guys are young and had some interruptions in their playing career which surely slowed down their development. Give them another year with Weeden and I would expect to see even more impact on the game from our WRs. On defense, having Phil and Haden back in the lineup has been beyond huge. Our defense is still learning, but it is a truly physical bunch which fits the mold for an AFC North team.- Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I can't figure out which is worse..... the 'look at me, I'm cool because I'm flippin the double bird' pose..... or the ruffles on his shirt. I'm leaning towards the ruffles.- Cleveland: Vintage Plans, Drawings, and Renderings

Really? You didn't enjoy watching the last two games? I thought both were very well played, very hard fought basketball games. In all, even though their record is awful, the Cavs have had very few stinkers all season.- Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
