The two rookies who have shown the most promise, Corey Coleman and Carl Nassib, each broke a hand this week. The football gods really do hate the Browns.
  2. These are the types of baby steps I like to see. Far too long have our "leaders" looked for the silver bullet that was going to reverse irreversible trends.
  3. ^Interesting question, but i'm not sure sure where the drop off is all that drastic. I think our DBs are actually better this year. Hooker and Lattimore are more talented than anyone who played last year IMHO. It's debatable whether Perry/Lee were really that much better than Booker/Worley are now.... Lee is better than Worley but I think Booker is better than Perry ever was. Then you also have Jerome Baker as that third OLB to bolster that unit. Adolphus Washington was scary good, but also frustratingly undisciplined at times. That said, I'm not enamored with our DT's, especially now that Sprinkle is gone for the year. Our DE depth this year is outstanding, with Hubbard, Lewis, and Holmes are all a year older, and Nick Bosa is already terrorizing opposing QBs as true freshman. On offense, the line is probably bigger and more physical than it has been in awhile. We have some real road graders at all five positions. The TE's are more involved in the passing game and H-Backs (Samuel and Wilson) are touchdowns waiting to happen every time they touch the ball. The drop off, if any, is at WR. But Noah Brown replaces Michael Thomas and then some IMO. Ideally, we'd have found that deep threat to replace Devin Smith, but we didn't have one last year either. In the backfield, you have an older and wiser JT Barrett, who didn't come into camp competing for his position and a deadly combo in Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel, both of whom can take it to the house.
  4. 'Should be fine' - Meyer
  5. I wonder what could've been if Noah Brown had not broken his leg last year. Him and Marshon Lattimore finally being healthy have added a lot of big play potential to both sides of the ball.
  6. Hoboken is a very cool place, so long as you don't mind dodging dog sh!t every 5 feet on the sidewalk
  7. Picturesque (and free to visit) spots in Cleveland would IMHO include: 1. Wade Lagoon and the Cleveland Museum of Art 2. Edgewater Park 3. Public Square and Tower City 4. The Malls (A, B, and C) surrounded by Public Hall, City Hall, Federal Reserve, and other group plan buildings. 5. Playhouse Square 6. West Side Market 7. North Coast Harbor 8. Settler's Landing 9. Flats East Bank boardwalk 10. Little Italy

I knew I recognized RGIII from somewhere....

I don't know that the Ohio dems are that bad. I think it is more that Ohio Republicans, with certainly some notable exceptions, are quite refreshing. They stand no chance on the national stage. But the type of Republican who plays well here in Ohio on a statewide level is so much more moderate than those GOP candidates we are seeing rise to national prominence. Of course, we have some real knuckleheads, like Jordan. But we have plenty in the mold of Kasich, Portman, LaTourette, Voinovich, etc. All that said, it might just be a case of the chubby bridesmaid effect which makes us look favorably on those politicians.
  10. I've been waiting for this type of breakout performance from Samuel. He is the best athlete on the team IMO. Malik Hooker is "as advertised". Kid's a beast. He has the potential to be our best DB since Antoine Winfield. Complete package. Him and McMillan up the middle should force offenses to the edges all season. I need some type of analysis of the tap water being fed into the Bosa residence in Florida. I'm not sure there isn't some top secret government expirement going on there.
  11. Best museums in America. CMA #2 right behind The Met. The Air Force museum in Dayton comes in at #11 http://www.thisisinsider.com/the-best-museums-in-america-ranked-2016-8/#25-diabeacon-1
  12. Burrows, much like Lattimore, has been slowed by injuries.
  13. I was thinking that the numbers only accounted for new construction (and not conversion), but even then they don't come close.... for Cleveland at least.
  14. Depth chart released. Lattimore, who is finally healthy, is starting at CB. Smith, now a junior, is the backup to Hooker, a sophomore. I win 8-)
  15. To wrap this up, I was responding to Ram's comment that wages are "likely less" in those Canadian cities, which -- whether or not you account for exchange rates or the added benefit of free healthcare -- is simply not true (and I agree with KJP that for the purposes of this discussion those rates are largely irrelevant)
  16. Income is 50% higher but then they take 40% of that to pay for the "Free" healthcare. Where do you get that 40% from? In that same tax bracket, the US takes approx. $5,000 plus 25% of anything over approx. $37,000. If my math is correct, with a $75,000 income and not including any deductions, the tax bill for an individual would be roughly $15,000 Canada takes 15% on the first $43,000 and then 22% on the next $48,000. Again using the $75,000 figure, that gets you closer to $17,000 for the tax liability for an individual.

They probably couldn't get a 7th Rounder for Gilbert at this point. In fact, they would probably have to pay another team to take him. If he is released, I'm sure he would be picked up given that a team could sign him to a new contract more in line with his actual value. But his current deal would be a non-starter in trade talks.

And they also got great value for a punter, I don't care how good he is
  19. ^Median household income in Toronto is 50% higher than it is in Ohio, and they get free healthcare.

Hue is trying to change the culture in the Browns locker room. Until that happens, abnormal methods to prevent injury are probably a low priority. When I saw the play, I assumed the coaches had told Lee to not tackle the returner if he broke loose. But Hue's reaction on the sideline dispelled that notion very quickly. He was pissed.
  21. Hts121 replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Sports Talk
^sure, so long as that directive came from the coaching staff. Obviously it did not
  22. Hts121 replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Sports Talk
That's a good net for a punter. Lee was good/great, but his effort on that play was about as bad as I've ever seen on an NFL field.

Kruger released. I thought he was decent but extremely overpaid.
  24. Too bad. He looked really good in the Spring game. Next man up

For those getting ready for the finale of The Night Of, this is an excellent read: http://www.thewrap.com/the-night-of-it-doesnt-matter-if-naz-did-it-commentary/ It is very good. The potential to be great is there if the show creators are able to build upon what the first season set up
