Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Great to see all of the progress..... but Nano Brew probably should've painted that brick BEFORE putting up the lettering.

Isn't Cedar-Richmond already the busiest intersection in Ohio?

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
I am not crazy about the idea in this partisan political atmosphere. Seems like it could be abused for ulterior purposes.

Moving From Toledo to Cleveland
You won't find a house in CH in that price range. Maybe a duplex, but nothing all that fitting for a Great Dane. When I first moved back to Cle and had a large dog, I rented a house in Mayfield Heights for about $850 I believe. It was nothing more than a 'monopoly house' with one floor and no bigger than your average sized apartment. But it did have its own fenced in yard, which was the selling point for me. I wanted something bigger and something closer to downtown, but all of those rentals were more in the $1200-$1500 range

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I don't think any of the idiots who do armed robberies in broad daylight and public care to think much about whether the person they are robbing might be armed. You are giving them too much credit. The incident around the stadium sounds rather random. The one involving the casino patrol should serve as a word to the wise if you ever have the fortune to cash out big winnings there.

Greek festival in CH is this weekend. http://clevelandheights.patch.com/articles/sts-constantine-and-helen-greek-festival-starts-thursday The wife will actually be there working the pastries booth this Saturday night if you want to stop by and sympathize with her having to deal with me (in person) on a daily basis...

US Economy: News & Discussion
^It's not an 'alarmist' headline..... it is exactly what the CBO forecast ^^yes..... which is not to say that things aren't moving in the right direction. Scraping half the dog sh!t off the bottom of my shoe is 'moving in the right direction', but it doesn't mean I don't still have dog sh!t on my shoe

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Joe Haden got kicked out of practice today for being too physical in 7-on-7's and then arguing with Shurmer when he was admonished for it. It's not his fault, though.... they took away his ADD pills. He is obviously having problems paying attention to direction and his hyperactive tendencies are not being kept in check :)

Lyndhurst: Acacia Country Club
Maybe.... which is why I was limiting the thought to only a "direct" tax benefit. That said, parks benefit the most the people who can walk to them. Not many Lyndhurst residents are within comfortable walking distance of Acacia.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
^Not being adjacent to a major interstate, an industrial river, and a bunch of factories should help...

Lyndhurst: Acacia Country Club
It probably depends on the resident. I wouldn't say that anyone is really urging more retail for the sake of having retail. Rather, it is a question of whether the City can capitalize on tax revenue which a park will not *directly* bring. The SE-L school district is facing more cuts and Lyndhurst prides itself on providing the very best City services (including sidewalk plowing and the ability of residents to put uncut, unbundled brush on their tree lawns for haul-away).

US Economy: News & Discussion
One of the more important rules of capitalism is that you can't pick the winners & losers. They just naturally occur. You have to allow the business cycle to run its course. Sometimes a company may go through a layoff cycle after a new product has been developed & launched. As soon as the government tries to implement some sort of tax to penalize them, the company will find a way around it, classifying the workers as temporary, or subcontracting the work, etc. This may be true in a true capitalistic system, which we don't have and never really did. Our system mixes a few different economic philosophies. Specific to the idea, I wouldn't have a 'penalty' tax for layoffs..... but tax credits for each job created (here) might not be a bad idea. That's not picking the winners, it is rewarding them.

Cleveland: MOCA
I love the concept and location, but can't lie..... I don't like that building, even if I suppose I can 'appreciate' the aspects of its design and the diversity it brings to the neighborhood.

On the middle screen which Hawk could've picked off if he was a little more alert.... perhaps. But the pass down the filed towards the sidelines which the corner nearly nabbed... that was a route mistake by Gordon

Cleveland Browns Discussion
While I take the hate with the requisite grain of salt it deserves, this is simply not true. Weeden was 12-20 against GB with two of those misses accounted for by drops on balls which hit the receivers squarely in the hands. The recievers hang on to those drops and he is at 70% completions. Not understanding why Weeden wasn't 'bombing away' against GB shows an utter lack of understanding of preseason strategy, the defensive sets GB was in, and Shurmer's offense (not saying I'm a huge fan of the latter). He certaintly didn't look like a future HOF'er, but he looked more like that than your predetermined evaluation

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Are the City (lakefront) and the County (admin bldg) in some kind of contest to see which entity can hire more consultants and get more proposals over the years on the same subject? To date, how much money has the county spent to have these studies done?

Cleveland: Bars / Nightlife News
I didn't spend much time in Cle during my bar hopping days which would have been during the tail end of the FEB Is that 4/20 rave still held in Colinwood each year. They used to promote that as the largest rave in the country. 3 warehouses packed with people from all over the country. I leeft when I saw the teddy bear dancing. Wawawawawawa

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
They do........ and I bet the justice center area is relatively low crime when taking into account that it is frequented by the worst elements that visit downtown. These incident sound like the work of one nutjob who will indeed get busted if he keeps it up

How dumb doyou have to be to commit a crime where they don't even have to put you in the back of a squad car..... they can just walk you accross the street

NBA: General News & Discussion
A bombshell on the horizon. It appears to FINALLY be done. Lots of pieces, but the nuts and bolts are as follows: Dwight to LAL Bynum to Philly Igoudola to Denver Orlando gets Al Harrington, Moe Harkless (76ers 1st rd pick this past draft), and a future first rounder from each team, and the deal clincher for sure, the Congo Kid Christian Eyenga Neither Bynum nor Howard are coming with assurances they will re-sign this summer. The deal makes sense for all involved. Orlando couldnn't possibly ask their new coach to start camp with the Dwight Show running 24/7

New job at CWRU
The parking ban on residential streets begins at 2am. You are allowed to park on most non-residential streets in the City, but the tricky part is accounting for bans on one side of the street or the other during rush hour. You can park on Mayfield Rd. for instance right near Coventry. There is no overnight restriction. The problem is when you get home from work, you can't park on the eastbound side of the street...... but then you will have to be up early enough (6:30am, I believe) to beat the ban on parking on the westbound side. It can be a pain.
