US Economy: News & Discussion
- Cleveland Browns Discussion
I was so broke (or maybe lazy) in college that I lived off the instant noodle soup in those styrofoam cups. Just add hot water from the tap and you're good to go! Back to the Browns...... I am no betting man, but Vegas has our over/under at 4. I might have to put something down on that. I understand the schedule is tough, but I can't see them not winning at least 5 games someway, somehow. Our only loss was Mike Adams (no biggie) and we added/upgraded starters at QB, RB, WR, RT (all of our offensive weak spots last year) and also boosted our defense IMO with Rucker, Parker, and JMJ. Losing Taylor will hurt, but I doubt he is out more than half the season and the young guys (and Paxson) should adequately fill in.- Cleveland: Comic Book Hall of Fame

I think we need a tie breaker as the streams of piss are about equal right now- Show a pic of your pet

I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, Jam. It could mean that the metro is, for lack of a better term, more productive per capita..... or it could mean that a bigger chunk of our GMP is created by people who work in our metro but reside elsewhere.... which would open another discussion about whether THAT is a good or bad thing. But, in the end, just like the difference in population is negligible and probably damn close to a margin of error.... so is the comparative difference in GMP. That said, it does speak well to the diversification of Cleveland MSA's economy given Cincy's rather wide lead in mega corps.- Cycling Advocacy
I had a good 'comeback' stored away for awhile now and an encounter on my bike afforded me the opportunity to use it. Riding on a side street the other day, two young girls drive by and the passenger leans out the window as they slow down next to me to say "Ain't nothing wrong with that sidewalk!"....... to which I replied "Thanks for the warning..... ain't nothing wrong with double negatives either...... think about that when you have the time!" Although I doubt she did or ever will "get it", I'm still satisfied :)- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
And there you have it...... not gonna happen Cavs want assurances from Andrew Bynum in potential Dwight Howard trade http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--cavs-want-assurances-from-andrew-bynum-in-potential-dwight-howard-trade-.html- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Nah. I ride my bike through there on occasion (obviously without my 'door' unlocked). Do people still do 'car-jackings' these days anyway? I thought that went out of style after the 90's ended- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^It really varies street to street (for the "in between" area), depending on the housing stock. There are some stark contrasts in that area. But, anywhere in the vicinity, including where your brother lives, is a "lock-your-door" neighborhood.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I think you are overestimating the leverage Orlando has in these talks. First, there are only a limited number of teams that can make a trade with any reasonable value work for them. Second, they have to trade Dwight this summer or face a PR nightmare come training camp. Third, if they don't trade him, they could lose him for nothing at the end of the season. Most importantly, they are limited in the teams who will take Howard because everyone wants some kind of assurance that he will re-sign after the season and his list of preferred teams/markets is extremely short. I think the Magic are waiting around for the best deal..... something similar to what Denver got for Melo. I just don't think that there are teams out there who are willing to part with all of those assets to facilitate Dwight going one of his preferred teams, none of which have those kinds of assets. A combination of draft picks, cap relief, and Andy (who they can flip at the deadline for more assets) might be the best they can do. I certainly would like that package if I was them better than the pile of crap the BK was offering. All that said, I doubt the deal goes down. 'Rumors' in NBA media circles translates to 'already discussed by the GMs and not gonna happen'- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Orlando wants to rebuild so they need (a) draft picks and (b) salary cap relief via getting rid of their bad contracts (Turkoglu and JRichardson)- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
West of 156 doesn't surprise me at all..... the one east of 156 is a bit disheartening as that area has promise- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Pretty sure that was done so Miami could exceed the cap and he still left money on the table- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I only asked because there are some who limit that term to the residential streets north of Lakeshore. I agree with your definition.... although I would stretch it east passed Nottingham all the way to the Euclid border and maybe make the csx tracks the southern border Did the murders occur west or east of 156?- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^^ define "north collinwood"- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Lloyd has been a wet blanket on all of these rumors all off-season..... but he's been right everytime. Here's the deal. Neither Howard nor Bynum will sign an extension of their current contract because they would be leaving massive amounts of $$ on the table by not waiting until they are unrestricted next summer. Weird quirk in the cba. So..... the Lakers and Cavs would have to take those guys on with only the expectation/promise they will re-sign next summer. Sort of the Deron Williams model with BK. Those teams would hold their "Bird rights" and that was always considered a big deal until Bosh and Lebron did away with that theory by signing for less with another team.- Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
I don't see the need for any urgency in selling the old admin building. Long term, it may be wise for the county to hold on to that land until the need for expansion of the medical mart in the foreseeable future is ruled out. I am skeptical about the prospects of a 'convention hotel' here anyway. We are not building a supersized convention center. We probably won't need a supersized hotel attached to it. Moreover, I will go out on a limb here and say this board will erupt with dissatisfaction when the renderings are released of any proposed hotel. I can't see how they could make it work, especially considering the inability to attach any parking- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
So you think Ric Bucher is full of it? The guys on 92.3 are eating it up. Especially Ric Bucher- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
That's why you see Kosar wisely headed in the other direction. What's Bernie doing wearing Brian Sipe's jersey?? :P- Cleveland Cavs Discussion

The article says prices dropped in Detroit and only tracks 20 cities without distinguishing between the neighborhoods where foreclosures were rampant and those neighborhoods which really weren't hit by foreclosure. How's the housing market in Stockton doing? I would also guess that despite recent gains, the bubble prices have not been restored in most areas. LV, for example, saw its prices drop dramatically from the height of the bubble, so a recent, modest gain doesn't really play into your latest conspiracy theory- US Economy: News & Discussion
Whatever they are doing and whatever their intent, it isn't 'juicing' the price of housing.... especially in areas where the foreclosures are rampant.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Much, much better last night for Waiters. Still not shooting well, but he got to the basket at will and had that swagger we've been hearing about. He splits double teams with his dribble nearly as well as Kyrie does- Cleveland: Comic Book Hall of Fame
Not thread worthy... at this point. I like the idea, but even the experts in the field have never heard of this guy - Cleveland Browns Discussion
