I have a friend who lives in Hyacinth. Great building, nice people (neighbors), terrible location. FYI, there is a building caddy-cornered from Hyacinth which the same owner owns, I believe, and is possibly in the pipeline for a renovation

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
That would be my dream scenario. And, really, it's not THAT far-fetched considering that Washington is looking to move Blatche and Nene and Drummond would make an imposing duo on the inside.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Jordan is as bad running an organization as he was good at playing basketball. That's not an overstatement. But, even still, Charlotte just drafted a big man with no offensive game in the top 10 last year. I can't see them taking Drummond. But Robinson is definitely in play there and with Washington.... although I hear Washington is drooling at the mouth for MKG. Bit of irony here. The lottery combination that was assigned to the #4 team (NOLA) was selected first. We finished tied with NOLA for the 3rd worst record in the league. There was a coin flip to determine who would be slotted 3rd. Obviously, we won that coin flip.... but, in hindsight, we really lost

#4 Oh yeah.... conspiracy theory #3 plays out. NOLA got the first pick. Nice present for the newest member of the old boys club. So New Orleans will take the Unibrow Charlotte picks 2nd, Washington has the 3rd, then us

^^It usually involves a lot of moving pieces. There were several deals last year, including Charlotte moving up from 19 to 7 last year - http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2011/news/story?id=6692627...... we, of course, traded our No. 32 pick for two future second rounders. As far as movement within the lottery, that is more rare, but its not like it doesn't happen. The one that pops right to mind is the infamous trade from 1993 in which GSW moved from 3 to 1 to take Webber and the Magic ended up with Penny. We made the trade for the right to pick Bid "Bad" Brad Daughtery in 1986. More recently, I recall a deal involving the Twolves and Blazers where the rights to Randy Foye and Brandon Roy were swapped. The Bulls also made the mistake of trading the rights to LaMarcus Aldridge (selected 2nd overall) to the Blazers for Tyrus Thomas (selected 4th). I'm sure there are more...

It's definitely not for everyone. I went with two friends. One absolutely loved it. The other was wondering since when did Cleveland have so many dirty people and who would want to bring them all together in one place.

^^It didn't help that the first ever draft lottery landed Patrick Ewing in NYC ^I highly doubt they bring 4 rookies into camp. I expect them to trade one or two of those picks on draft night for either future assets (trade an early 2nd for a late first rounder in a future draft) or as a package to move up from either 24 (the Lakers' pick) or if we want to be a spot or two higher in the lottery. If they are unable to swing a deal, I would expect them to draft 1 or 2 players with the intention of stashing them overseas for a few years. Don't forget that we have our 2nd rounder from last year (Milan Macvan) over there and he is doing fairly well in the Euroleague

We need good vibes for Nick, folks. Draft lottery is tonight at 8pm. Btw.... if the conspiracy theorists are right about the "lottery", I am going to say the #1 pick will end up with the Nets (who will then trade it to the Magic in a deal for Dwight Howard). My second guess would be the TWolves, because Kevin Love is a superstar stuck on a bad team, Davis would be the perfect compliment in many ways, and Minny has never won the draft lottery (despite relatively high odds on many occasions). Third guess would be the league owned NOLA Hornets

I think most people, if they were being honest, don't believe our debt-holders WANT us to make good on our debt. Do you think if we brought a few aircraft carriers full of cash to China and said "here ya go... consider yourself paid", they would be happy about it? Point being.... it is not an "evil"

^Retirees and illegal immigrants could be a major factor because neither of those groups is likely to have any effect on the "official" jobs numbers..... the "boom" states have those in spades. Us, not so much.

Metro Jobs 2007-2012
No, the 26,800 for Cleveland was for the increase in people who became employed over the last year. It's not the same thing as number of non-farm jobs, where Cleveland actually lost 800 in the last year. I'm still lost. 26,800 people "became employed" over the last year...... I would think that means that there are 26,800 jobs which weren't there last year. How does it add up?

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Correct on your first sentence. Correct on your second sentence. Correct on your third sentence. 3 for 3. However, take a look at the large gains made by numerous metros with "anti-density policies" and relative "lack of transit"...... and putting aside the fact that your conspiracy theory of "anti-density policies" is a point of contention...... I don't think there is a strong connection between anything you are constantly complaining about and the loss of population in the inner city core. I also am not in the camp, at least for the City I know (Cleveland), that loss of population is a bad thing. I would need some more context on exactly who we are losing, why they are moving away, and to where. Not really relevant to the numbers above, but I happen to think positively about the long-term effects of the shift of low income families from Cleveland proper to the post-war, blue collar former middle class suburbs on the south side (which in turn may cause those areas to decline). It may not look good from a pure population statistics view, but it is a burden lifted off the City which has too many low-income families vs. more stable households..... and, like you implied, what's good for the City is good for the metro.

Cleveland's MSA added 27,600 farm jobs in the past year?? Am I interpreting these numbers correctly? That can't be right....
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
At this rate, Cleveland's MSA will completely disappear by the year 2295..... around the same time Columbus will reach twice the population of any other Ohio MSA..... and The USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B will be embarking on its first missions.

^Examples? What do you see as the next "mandate" in the pipeline should the individual health care mandate be upheld as constitutional? If you are speaking more abstractly, I would say that is a matter of perspective. Many government policies indirectly "mandate" private economic decisions one way or another. But I don't think the current administration (or 'coalition' as you might call it) has any desire to directly mandate private economic decisions. They love to incentivize them, but stricly mandating such things is only favored when the ends significantly outweigh the means (such as with the health care mandate) and those means can be narrowly tailored. I suspect IF the mandate is upheld, the decision will be limited strictly to that specific situation of mandating health insurance coverage for those who can afford it but choose (for non-religious reasons) to not buy it.

Affordable apartments around CSU downtown?
I don't think the precipitation difference (^2x as much snow) applies to any of the areas "east of downtown" which have been recommended. Sure.... the "snowbelt" gets 2x or even 3x as much snow as Lakewood, but I don't think Little Italy, UC, etc. does.... or even the Hillcrest areas. They get more snow, but the difference isn't double. I could be wrong...

Gramarye - if the individual mandate is struck down as unconstitutional, wouldn't a mandatory 401K plan be unconstitutional as well?
