Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The only way I see any potential for it happening is if LAL fires Brown and Scott somehow talks Gilbert into letting him out of his contract to take his dream job. I think Gilbert loves Scott being the coach here and we certainly have the right roster (no divas as mentioned above) to deal with Scott's tough love. Byron is regarded as one of the toughest coaches to play for because (a) he works your a&& off and (b) he doesn't take any sh!te

So this is an incorrect statement. I will cease my "aggressive posture", unpin my ears, and wipe the foam away from my mouth now that we have that settled. Carry on...

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
JMO..... but if an answer to this without overly generalized conclussory statements of opinion can not be given, I think its finally time after 3+ years to put this puppy to rest. At least let's not allow our board to give off the impression that some code or written requirement "demands surburban style development" in MidTown. Either that or create a new thread.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
^^^well.... it is kind of hard to argue when we have seen all of these structures built in MidTown over the past 3-4 years with hundreds and thousands of parking spaces and man-made lakes in the front...... and all of those office parkways in which the only interaction with Euclid is the sign at the front listing the various occupants of the structures built along those new parkways no closer than 1/2 mile in..... and don't forget about the suburban style shopping mall near 55th...... or the new cul-de-sac roads with gated entrances directly off Euclid popping up each day it seems

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
CSU is looking for balance. If that means incorporating some "suburban design element"...... or what I would instead refer to as typical colllege campus elements...... I have no problem with it. All I can say is whatever they are doing, they should keep plugging away. I have never seen this level of activity on CSU's campus before. Students are out and about. It looks like a real college.

Cleveland: Zoning Discussion
Its not so silly when you consider that there are a lot more traps to fall in when the City declares that multi-family structures are a conforming use for an area where land acquisition costs are not at a premium. I am not familiar enough with Bridge to speak on the subject, but let's use the more common example of Euclid Avenue. With the BRT, the availability of federal and state grants, and other conditions in MidTown, developers are eager to build low-income mutifamily developments along the corridor. The land is cheap and plentiful. Like it or not, for the developer, it can be a real money maker. But if the City has multifamily as a non-conforming use, it leaves it with more discretion in terms of which of those developments to allow and gives the city leverage at the negotiating table to conform the proposal to something more tasteful.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
The lot I was thinking of (and what I thought Foraker was referencing) is on the NE corner of Mayfield and Monticello. I thought "most recently" that it was just a general non-brand specific used car lot (First Choice Used Cars?). Are we talking about the same lot? If so, what are UH's plans?

^^^There is a video camera in the ATM. Just an FYI in case 16 yo RNR overpowers the older version some day... ^The $200 limit does not apply to all ATMs. For one of my accounts, I can withdraw up to $400

^I believe that Motorcars has purchased that lot for their used car sales. It has just been a slow process of moving.

A Tale Of Two Bars
I read both and I honestly don't see any "blatant bias" on the reporter's behalf. I don't see any conclusory statements of personal opinion which favors one side over the other. It is just reporting the facts. It's not a pretty situation and reporter's sometimes have to do the dirty work of brining these situatios to light. Add onto that the fact that Hilow refused to speak with him to tell her side of the story and what does he have to go on? And based on Hilow's statements in the recording, it appears that race certainly is an issue for her.

NBA: General News & Discussion
ESPN's wet dream is for the Heat to lose in the Finals..... again. Let's face it, they make good villians and thus draw interest to the games. And another meltdown in the Finals would provide a whole lot of chatter for the airwaves. Take them out of the playoffs at this early stage and the storylines for ESPN become that much less compelling. Let's say, for instance, the Finals are OKC and Indiana.... the ratings will plummet..... don't you think ESPN (for pure business reasons) would prefer Heat-Lakers?

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
A few quick updates: Bluestone's townhomes are now starting to wrap around to face Mayfield road. The set back is even with the condo building. I will try to snap some pics this weekend maybe. The fugly medical building which was right next to the self-carwash on the SE corner of Mayfield and Cumberland is being demolished. It was about half gone as of last night. I hadn't heard anything about this so I'm not sure if this was planned or if there was perhaps a fire or some other event which rendered it no longer habitable. Addition by subtraction if you ask me. I also noticed that the self-wash is for sale. Those two lots together make an attractive parcel at that corner...... I just hope it is not scooped up for yet another Motorcars expansion.

Affordable apartments around CSU downtown?
Where Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights meet, there are some very upscale neighborhoods. But the majority of that area is not high rent. Coventry, Cedar-Lee, Cedar-Fairmount, and Shaker Square will all have affordable units and amenities.

It's also a helluva a lot easier and CHEAPER to get a variance than it is to buy land and tear down a building for additional parking.
