Shump was supposed to start when we acquired him. Only reason JR was inserted into the starting lineup was because Shump was hurt when they arrived. Shump was going to be our 'perimeter defender' who would be assigned to the best perimeter player on the other team, given that he can guard 1, 2, and 3. JR was not considered a defensive player, but he has certainly elevated his game on that end of the floor.

I just sent that pic to my buddy in CLT who is a huge Panthers fan and the leader of the "Roaring Riot" His response: "Jesus... act like you've been there before" I thought that was pretty good :-D

I was hearing reports on the radio of 2 million. For those hoping for pics, etc., you'll have to wait. Supposedly, cell phones are largely inoperable at the moment due to the amount of people with handheld devices. Cleveland broke the internet! ^The two largest events I can remember (and I happened to attend both) were the bicentennial celebration and New Year's 2000. Neither came close to what we are seeing today. I thought Rose signed with the Expos (not traded) after he had spent 4 or so season in Philly? Regardless, LeBron ain't Charlie Hustle. Very, very different people.

Yes, the cap went up. But we are still over the cap. Even if we trade Love without somehow taking back equal salary, we would be right at the cap or just slightly under it. Teams will need to be $20 mill under the cap to sign Durant. Plus, the NBA does not allow lopsided salary trades. The players exchanged have to be within a certain percentage of each other salary-wise. There are some maneuvers that could possibly be made, but it's such a longshot it's not even worth discussing. We won't be in the mix for Durant, bottom line.

Moving this here from NBA General Discussion thread... Love is an awkward fit when we play the Warriors. He helps tremendously against virtually every other team. Especially with TT in the middle, we need a stretch 4 to open up the lane for LBJ and Ky. Our halfcourt offense depends on it, not to mention the boost he gives us in transition with his defensive rebounding and ability to outlet the ball to get the break started. I don't know who these fans who want Love gone expect to land as a replacement. Give me some names. And he is not a 12/10 guy. More like 17/10, slightly better than Horace Grant type numbers, and no one is going to come in and put up much better numbers with our two superstars being the primary scorers. I do think that he should think about adding some muscle. I also want him working non-stop on his mid-range game. His 15-20 foot shot should be automatic. LeBron too. At this point in his career, that mid-range shot needs to be money. JR will not exercise his player option and rightfully so. I still hope and expect that he will be back. I'd really like to see us trade into the first round of this draft. The talent pool is uncharacteristically deep. I'm also wondering if Cedi Osman has changed his mind about waiting until at least 2017 to come over from the Euro leagues.

NBA: General News & Discussion
^I'd be shocked if Durant went to the team that just beat him in the playoffs. He would get ripped for fitting the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" cliché. I don't think he leaves OKC, but it might depend on what the Thunder ownership is willing to do to keep that team competitive. They have some tough decisions on the horizon with Ibaka, Adams, Kanter, and Waiters all wanting to get paid. I also think that GSW has to think about its own players. Curry is ridiculously underpaid, and Klay and Draymond are going to start feeling the same way once the new max contracts are set.

I haven't seen or heard this mentioned much, but I was very proud of the City for avoiding a lot of the nonsense which occurs for whatever reason when a championship is won. I've talked to a lot of people who were downtown and it sounds as if there was nothing but love and happiness in the packed streets.

I think it was Marc Stein (ESPN) who said that in his 20 years covering this game, he has never seen so many tears on the floor and in a locker room following a Title.

Absolute surreal feeling last night. I stayed home to watch it with my son, who just turned 10 this weekend. He was born 10 years ago on Father's Day 2006. We got to share this moment Father's Day 2016. (Yes, I already have plans to buy lottery tickets on Father's Day 2026). After I got him off to bed, I took the dog out. Now, keep in mind that I live in the inner ring but a solid 1 mile from any 'action'. I probably sat on my front porch for 30-45 minutes just listening to the honking, yelling, chants, cheering, etc. way off in the distance. It sounded like it was coming from nearly every direction. Insane.

The fan was the son of one of the Cavs' minority owners, Nate Forbes. And I thought I saw somewhere that he said the mouthpiece did hit him in the face. Regardless, I don't think that he was aiming at any particular fan. If he was in some type of thing with that fan and hit him with anything, a suspension would be warranted. But the precedent of a fine with no suspension has already been set for chucking a mouthpiece into the stands as it has happened before. No way they up that precedent for the MVP in a game 7. And I don't want the asterisk anyways. Haslam got a one game suspension for something similar in the Finals but he threw his mouthpiece at a ref On another note, here's something that hasn't been mentioned much - LeBron was 1 steal short of a quad-nickel in G6 & 2 blocks short of a quint-nickel.... and he dropped 41..... for the second straight game. Dude is not human.

LeBron is leading all players in the Finals in Points, Rebounds, Assists, Steals and Blocks..... for BOTH teams. (actually, he is tied for 1st in Rebounds) I've been saying all along that winning a championship often requires a good bit of luck / good fortune. These two injuries and Barnes going ice-cold from the floor is a huge blow to GSW. I don't know that there is a player in the league who is better at guarding LeBron than Iggy.
