Cleveland: MOCA
While I can appreciate its uniqueness and I suppose a necessary eccentric quality, I still think that design is just ugly.

Well done JJ. Only reason I knew of it is because cliffview is a shortcut I sometimes use when heading to the shoreway.

The picture of the park was not my post. As for your three gueses, that would be no, no, and no. Here's a hint.... you're not even close ;) But, yes, it is a new development (at least it started within the past 5 or so years) but is much more small scale than Mill Creek. Another hint - these houses probably have decent lake views.

Haha. I had the same issue with my wife. I still remember her calling me crying because Kobi, as a little pup, had stolen her sandwich when she came home on lunch to let him out. He also used to chase her around and nip at her butt with his little puppy teeth (a game for him which she didn't find so funny). I told her you have to put 'the fear of God' into him or he will never respect you. She learned quickly and is now officially a 'dog person'.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Agreed. Hunon East definitely has that 'look' to it (lots of Asians dining on any given night) and that is impressive considering its location (although I believe there is a decent Asian population just north of there around that chinese christian church on Trebisky). But honestly, I don't find it to be on par with Hunan Coventry. I use it more as a quick take-out joint. I definitely will give a shout out to their egg-foo-young, which is the best I've had (even though it really weighs you down).

Yes, that is a be-a-utiful Weimaramer. In response to Hoot's comments, I find Weimaramer's to closely mirror the persona they are given by the comedy 'Best in Show' (a MUST see for any dog owner/lover). If you don't give them the attention and activity they need, they will be a terror. But if you can accomodate those needs, they are great dogs. That is true for most hunting dogs, but especially true for Weimaramers and German Short Haired Pointers. German Shepherd's can be a lot of things, but loyality is their strongest attribute IMO. I only have to put him on a leash when people get frightened by his presence. He geniunely has no desire to leave my side when we are in public. And when I take my son to the park, Kobi sits down by the bench and doesn't take his eyes off of him the entire time. The biggest mistake people make with Shepherd's is not establishing their (the owner's) alpha status. Shepherd's want that and will grab it if you don't make it clear who's in charge from the time they are a pup. That is when they become a problem..... or when you train them to be mean, of course. I like them because they are big enough (Kobi is particularly big at around 100 lbs) to work effectively as a security system, they don't slober, they don't stink (although there is a trade-off there because they shed like there is no tomorrow), and they really are 'working' dogs (everything isn't just fun and games for them) so they take guarding the house and family, herding the kids, etc. VERY seriously.

Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel ran for US Senate.
If Mandel resorts to mud-slinging, he will lose that golden-boy, Iraq War veteran image he has going for him. That gives Brown an unfair advantage (somewhat) because he is a 'take the gloves off' kind of guy to begin with. Mandel was actually the only Republican (not including judges) I voted for during the last election. He impressed me during the campaign, but I think the article does make a point that perhaps too much of his time since being elected has been spent prepping for this next step up the ladder as opposed to really dedicating himself to the job which he was elected to perform.

Not really a very good quality pic, but..... here's Kobi. Sweet as can be when you are a guest and GREAT with kids. Downright frightening to anybody who dares come within 50 feet of my house (I had one contractor who walked off the job because I was at work and he thought Kobi was going to jump through the window). Before any of you make any smarmy comments (cough, cough MTS), I got rid of those vertical blinds years ago.

It's a seed... a 'frontier post'... and a much needed one in an area with extraordinary potential but not yet at the point that private investors are willing do put up the big bucks.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Bar Louie does have a killer fish po'boy. I disagree that it is barely a step up from Applebees. Although it is a chain, it does not have that same overbranded feel that Applebee's, Outback, Chili's, etc. have and the bar crowd is much, much younger.

Move to Cleveland! Job Relocation Housing?
^Those three areas are great, but none of the units in them are modernized like the pic above. Definitely more character IMO, but far from modern. RBDC180 - given your price range (which gives you a lot of flexibility, check out Park Lane Villa in University Circle - http://www.parklanevilla.com/. UC is the cultural center of the City containing most of the museams, severance hall, Case Western Reserve U., not far from Little Italy, Coventry, or Cedar-Fairmount.... and a short ride to Downtown (by bus, bike, or car). You may also want to consider Tremont Place Lofts - http://www.tremontplacelofts.com/. Tremont might be our trendiest neighborhood at the moment, and is just SW of downtown. Of course, there is 668 Euclid in Downtown - http://www.668euclidave.com/ - but you would most likely have to go on a waiting list. I have heard that the Avenue District's condo building in Downtown might be converting to rentals due to low sales - http://www.theavenuedistrict.com/welcome/home/ - doesn't hurt to check it out Lastly, I'm not sure of your ETA, but there is new construction in UC that might intrigue you - http://www.uptowncleveland.com/ - I don't think any units will be available until late Fall. Welcome

What Makes a city feel big?
I think LA is an example of a city that is enormous but doesn't have that "big city" feel to it.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
^I saw that this morning. Fascinating stuff... although I am not sure this is the right thread. I found this excerpt particularly relevant to discussions we have had recently on here: The first and longest excerpt focuses on poor urban youth. Police talk about the problem of violence, particularly in hot weather. "We find that during a tour of duty," one police officer says, "we run across at least one shooting, several cuttings." Community members worry that young men with no jobs will cause trouble. A group of boys loitering against a wall talk disjointedly about looking for something to do. (Segment begins at 1:03 of the video.)

Cleveland: Census Results
I didn't go to urban planning school. But I did sleep at a Holiday Inn express last night. A lot of it is simply perception. For instance, at Mentor, there is a 'bullying' problem. At Heights, it is a 'thug' problem. But if I had to choose whether to send my son to Heights or Mentor, I wouldb choose Heights 7 days out of the week and twice on Sunday. At least kids aren't committing suicide there. Most people would disagree with me but I don't think they could bring the facts, other than racial demographics, to back up their point. Perception, particularly pre-determined skin deep perception, is often very far from reality.

Cleveland: Census Results
Maybe we should look at some 'parallels' with those cities? *ducks* Seriously though, white flight is certainly not 'uniquely' a Cleveland problem, but it is nonetheless a Cleveland problem and one we have to overcome. It causes a spiraling effect in both reality and perception.
