How did you possibly fail to incorporate "yaoming" somewhere in that post?

Mourn him all you want... just don't call him Shirley! 2nd best slapstick actor of all time IMO... right behind Peter Sellers. Ironically, I believe Neilsen was a "serious" actor up to Airplane. Him and P Presley were pricless in the Naked Gun films. "Nice beaver" "Thanks. I just had it stuffed last week."

When is that model train show? Annually? My son would love that! Our really big expo only comes around once evry five years or so
  4. The concept of "underemployed" is skewed given the times, IMHO. Compare how many people have college, even HS, degrees now to that same figure around the Great Depression and of course there will be many out there who consider themselves underemployed. Not everyone can be a CEO.... but every mook with a 4 yr degree feels entitled to that type of opportunity.

^^^^ That's three more than you typically see at a Cavs game. I believe your count was similar to hers for courtside or close thereto. I figured at least one of those was an plain clothes cop trying to remove an unruly fan and the fan not cooperating. But there was also a fight and two near alterations in our section..... Which is in the middle bowl
  6. FWIW........ I lived off of used furniture for 10 years or so and never had a problem with bedbugs or other critters. Not saying it isn't a possibility, but I can't imagine it is too high a risk to put off getting the basics until the weather breaks. JMO. Welcome to Ohio's most populous county!

My wife said there were a lot of fights at the game last night..... especially in the seats closer to the court. Glad TNT ignored those distractions.

Hmm..... maybe you should read the article again? That's not what I took from it at all. But that would be from an insider's perspective.
  9. There are renderings somewhere. It looks nice. Maybe a little japanese style, IIRC...

Great.... now I have to give both of you the hose again!

My wife and her friend are using our tix. I really don't want any part of it - seeing the game or taking part in the 'festivities'. Not even sure if I am going to watch. I am over it.... until I actually see him play in another uni (which I have managed to avoid so far).

Don't sweat it, Emmie. MTS is just a "mean girl"
  13. How many fortune 500 or 1000 companies would that make along I-271? At least three...
  14. There really isn't much room facing Euclid, if any at all, for any retail of any kind. The landscaping will mostly be on the west side of the building, facing the new loop main entrace. And I think a cancer hospital like this, urban setting or not, needs green space for patients and families to enjoy when able. Thanks for all the compliments, everyone. I really don't do much photography. Ain't iphoto great?!
  15. The idea of converting the rooftops of the Huntington and Willard Park garages into parks is an intriguing idea I have never heard mentioned before. That said, I park on the roof of Huntington several times each month and would miss it. The lower levels of that garage are horrific to deal with IMO. The comments section gives a good sample of how non-UO'ers typically view urban development :(
  16. Around Downtown, yes. "In Downtown", not so much... unless you are planning to put a corporate campus on the WHD lots.
  17. Here's some decent coverage - http://www.bostonherald.com/business/general/view.bg?articleid=1300127&srvc= The figures provide details on more than $2 trillion the Fed lent through emergency programs from December 2007 to July this year to ease a credit crisis. The lending programs had never been used before and are now defunct. Most of the loans have been repaid, and none are overdue, Fed officials say. So they say, at least. You can also note in the article how it talks about the new Financial Regulations putting an end to the secrecy of the "discount window". Not sure I agree with that.... those loans were kept secret for a very good reason IMHO. On your last point, I would have to presume that the small businesses would be far worse off if not for these programs, even if they did lose some ground to the "big boys".... which has been happening everyday in America for a looooong time, financial crisis or not.
  18. I can almost picture you coming out of the womb with skinny jeans... and a european carry-all, of course
  19. No. It's a great USE of money. But it's a waste of time discussing because it is such a pipe dream.
  20. I assume you mean the $3 trillion plus in 'emergency loans' the Fed loaned to lending institutions between 2007 and July 2010? Or at least that is one of the items you are citing as a problem. These were lending programs specifically targeted to keep the flow of credit moving through the credit crisis. Most of the loans were to major financial institutions such as BOA, JP Morgan, Citigroup and Wells Fargo, as well as foreign banks such as Deutche Bank, Barclays, etc. Regardless of how they were secured, most of these loans have been paid back and none are overdue. At least that it what was reported in whatever story I read today on the subject. These lending programs were absolutely vital to many, many small businesses during the financial crisis Then, I believe, there was another $1 trillion in mortgage securities the Fed bought from F&F. I am not sure how I feel about that. It all comes down to how vital you feel the housing market is (or should be) to our economy.
  21. True, but still better than overextending yourself, and consequently failing, from the start.

I think some have a misunderstanding of the reason why others of us might not be jumping up and down with joy over this appointment. And it has nothing to do with how he got the lobbyist job. For me at least, it has more to do with the policies I would like ODOT to adopt.... policies which his background coming into THIS job strongly suggests he won't adopt.

^It's not really an article about Lebron or even "the Decision". It is an article about Cleveland. It's more an essay than an article. And a very well written one at that.
  24. As has been mentioned before, there is nothing stopping MMPI from expanding its "permanent" showroom space if the market demands it do so. Until one of these is up, running and successful, I am going to predict that Nashville is overreaching more than a bit.
  25. ^Exactly. This could be a major benefit to a lot of people, and the City as a whole. But you know the PD will paint it as nothing more than scratching Gilbert's back.
