The average Joe can't.... but the average Jill can.
  3. ^My gut tells me the hotel will go in the WHD lots.... or maybe even Jacobs' lot. I think most developers know that there is a fast rising market for a larger hotel downtown (as much as existing hotels will fight that) and there will soon be a competition to see who can build one. The County building lot is, IMO, not a good location for a grand hotel. I agree with the notion that it would be perfect for future (as in 10 years down the road) expansion of the MM. The County is in no position to move any time soon.

Not to change the subject, but when your wife does something like that, do you take it as a hint? One time my wife brought back a pair of "trendy" jeans from Old Navy. I think I'm like you, target or kohls brand jeans, and a t-shirt. When she brought that back, I was kind of like, OK, you want me to look a little hipper. It's kind of like buying your wife hot pants and asking if she wants to go to a club tonight. Well... it wasn't totally unexpected. She asked if I would want something silver since it is so cheap down there and pretty much all I wear is silver, white gold or platinum. I just don't own any necklaces and this one is a little 'blingy' for my tastes I think. That said, my wife buys most of my clothes and knows my tastes. She does a really good job. Soft, tagless t-shirts are always a hit with me, so I am easy to shop for. Besides, I highly doubt my wife would let me leave the house looking 'metro'.... she's always picking on my brother for it and I wouldn't even call him 'metro'... just overly trendy.
  5. Just get rid of the Chipotle and I'm good.

Yeah... this is comical. I guess you could send him an email telling him what a douche he is and he would respond with a "We want you to think about joining our team"

    GUILTY!
  8. Yeesh, a bit of a strawman, no? How about not spending gobs of public money or using government ED powers to give these companies places to move amidst high vacancy rates in existing buildings? We didn't do either of those for one office tower. The ED powers were used when this project was still full tilt with residential and retail and the benefits far outweighed any harm to private property owners elsewhere in downtown. The FEB was leveled, the prep work had begun and then the economy tanked. I highly doubt what was done would have been done if we had a fully operational chrytal ball. Besides, does anyone have full confidence that Tucker Ellis and Ernst Young would be renewing their leases at the Huntington Building if the FEB project was never conceived? As I understood it, the need for continguous class-A office space in downtown - something the existing property owners could not offer - was the driving force for the tower.

I am definitely NOT a metrosexual. I take the slacks off as soon as I can. Jeans and t-shirt kind of guy..... and definitely not the skinny jeans or any t-shirts with sequence on them. In fact, my wife brought me back this really nice diamond-cut silver necklace from Mexico and I'm a little uneasy wearing it..... as it makes me look like a metrosexual from the Jersey Shore.
  10. Not sure.... but it happened right in front of me. Two black youths (courtesy identification for those of you whom it matters to) were arrested (or at least I assumed). I didn't see what happened.... I just saw the cop grab the one kid by the arm and say "you're coming with me" and then point to his friend to follow. When the kid asked "why?".... the cop said "don't act like you don't know what a pass-back is" I thought the whole point of this was that legally there was nothing they could do to fare jumpers who were under 18? Jerry would have to weigh in..... but as I understand it, the vote was simply to give RTA transit police the authority to issue a citation to juvenilles. They already have the authority to cite adults..... but only the white ones ;) (sarcasm intended for those of you who didn't get the wink). The current policy, however, is to just give juvenilles a warning. However, the juvenilles COULD be arrested as it certainly is a crime.... it is just a matter of resources to process and hold the juvenilles. The idea of citations was raised to deal with those issues. But I do see a problem with that type of system... even putting the race issue to the side. How are the cops supposed to confirm identify of these juvenilles? What would stop the juvenille from giving false information? I believe the cop I saw at Tower City dealing with that issue was a Cleveland cop, not RTA.
  11. Yes.... the Panini's and Johnny Malloy's of the world come and go. Tommy's, Grum's, The Record Exchange (or whatever Rich calls it now), Sunshine, Big Fun, etc. are staples.

Love it: Two Wolves ... a metaphor for our times. One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said: "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil ... it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and inflated ego. The other is Good ... it is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The old Cherokee simply replied: "The one you feed".
  13. ^^Maybe we should tell those companies they are not allowed to move? Shuffling deck chairs or not, this project is still a great thing for the City IMO. I'm fairly certain that Queen City Square in Cincy is mostly (if not all) comprised of existing downtown tenants. The thing that disappoints me is that it appears we lost a few stories off of the tower. Now at 18? I thought it was going to be 21...

If Harrison would have accepted his role, he would still be here. Once he lost his starting gig, he started pouting and it showed in his play.

REM's "Cuyahoga" R.E.M. - Cuyahoga Randy Newman's "Burn On" - again about the Cuyahoga River and used as the intro to "Major League" Randy Newman - Burn On (Berlin 1994) Springstein's "Youngstown" - sorry for the poor video quality, but I had to post this edition since I WAS THERE! Matter of fact, I believe I was standing under that tree you can see on the far right of this still-frame The Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" - about Akron The Pretenders - My City Was Gone Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony's "Cleveland is the City" Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony's "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" Bone thugs-n-harmony - Thuggish Ruggish Bone Jewel's "Cleveland" Jewel - Cleveland Scott Weiland's (formerly of Stone Temple Pilots) "Missing Cleveland" Of course, we all know the "Heart of Rock'n'Roll is still Cleveland" ;) Yes... there is a notable ommission and that was DEFINITELY INTENTIONAL
  18. Would you support him doing so?
  19. The Chairman and Board's rationale used to table the issue is misguided and misplaced. That said, I don't get how they can legalize fare-jumping? Oh wait..... that's right..... they didn't. Phew.... I thought I was going to have to report that cop who I saw arresting a young black male who did a pass-back with his friend's monthly pass at Tower City. That would have felt akward.

Does this mean I qualify???!!! :-D It means you're over-qualified and, consequently, can't be taken seriously
  21. How about a +1 feature? Just something simple where you note your agreement with a particular post. It could even be opened up to guests.

edale.... I moderated another board and, trust me, it is more of a burden than a privilege/honor. OK.... I am insulted.... because I am either "etc" or am not "established" I shall now refer to the Admins as "Mayday, richNcincy, etc."
  23. What is going on in the fenced off lot between Fenway Senior Housing and the Auto shop on Euclid (right accross from the Clinic)?

To not violate Mr. Mayor's directive, I am going to respond to this comment here: Would somebody mind going to the next City Council meeting and seeing if they would be interested in passing an ordinance prohibiting public defecation and/or urination? Thanks much...
