Kap is not a journeyman. He might become one if he doesn't have a successful reset to his career, but he doesn't qualify for that label just yet. I doubt Whitner gets cut. His value to the franchise goes well beyond the playing field.
  2. Vantage points can make or break a skyline. From due east (especially from an elevated view in UC) and west (from Edgewater), Cleveland's skyline stacks up quite well with many on the list. From the lake or from the south, not so much. That said, I don't care nearly as much about skylines as I did when I was younger. The best parts of Downtown Cleveland, IMO, are found in the gaps of the skyline.

The Dansby cut does not surprise me. I know his numbers were good, but I never thought Dansby was a great fit for a 3-4 scheme. He is more of a Mike or Sam in a 4-3 scheme. Regardless, several of the good teams in this league, notably the Pats and Steelers, make it standard practice to get rid of guys a year too early as opposed to a year too late. Last year's OL was good in pass protection, but did not earn its paycheck when it came to run blocking. In this division, we really need some road graders. I hope they are looking to shape the new OL with that thought in mind. Get the guys who can knock the DL and LBs back on the heels and the defense will be more hesitant to pin their ears back and come full steam after the QB. In order to avoid being Tim Couch II, the QB simply needs to be able to read a blitz and use the hot route. A lot of Couch's poundings were inflicted because of his inability to do that. I don't care how good your OL is, in the NFL you only have a certain amount of time to get rid of the ball before the defense gets to you.

Dansby and Bowe cut. DeMario Davis, LB from the Jets, signed.

Good news days for the Ravens with the signing of Eric Weddle. Bad news day for the Steelers with the suspension of Martavius Bryant. Another no news say for the Browns.

^so too was the public information officer I'd bet

Ok. But I'm not sure what insight they can offer on the specific issue. They track transactions. They aren't involved in negotiations. They basically have the same insight as any other person who tracks transactions, albeit they get their information a few minutes before the rest of the world

We can expect otherwise because they are different people. I'm not superstitious so I don't believe in curses. Who are "league execs" anyways and how would they have any insight on this issue?
  9. Hts121 replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Sports Talk
I mentioned execs. I heard they were willing to give Mack more, but let's face it, he was on the first train outta here regardless. Conflicting reports on Schwartz. One thing is clear is that this group views OL as more of a plug and play position group compared to past regimes. As I've said multiple time in this thread and the Cavs thread, be very weary of misinformation, which has increased exponentially since print journalism took a back seat the the twitterati and their 'sources'. Agents and execs play the media for fools

I'm viewing the criticism very skeptically. The new regime has not been shy about saying they are taking a different approach. That can't make the agents happy. Those agents are used to dealing with Browns brass who overpay for their overaged clients. Other execs are used to dealing with Browns brass who meet their demands in trades. I'm not saying they aren't clueless. I'm just considering the source

I'd be shocked if they gave up the 32. Shocked. Good players in the NFL routinely get dealt for 3rd or 4th round picks. Kaep is intriguing, especially working with Hue, but his value can't be much higher than that.

Mack thrived in Shanahan's zone blocking scheme. I suspect that played a part in his decision

I would bet the same would hold true since 1999. I was on board with both Couch and Courtney Brown. There was some debate about Couch, but he was generally viewed as a legit franchise QB prospect. There was a general consensus about Brown being a beast. I don't blame them for either of those picks. Things went downhill from there. Warren over Tomlinson was mentioned upthread, but even worse IMO was taking Warren over Richard Seymour who was clearly the better prospect. I also don't understand how a Butch Davis led Browns team could've passed on Ed Reed for William Green. Davis coached Reed at The U for f&ck's sake.

If this regime has the same ability to draft as previous ones, I would suggest using a dart board instead of a big board when making selections.

A picture of Alex Mack leaving Berea yesterday.....

Mack is signing with the Falcons. Sheesh
  19. ^definitely an option. And only half my name is a lie. I'm still in the 121
  20. We are still in S Euclid. Not sure for how much longer. When we move, we could move in (closer to the City) or we could move out (for more land and better public school system). We are really torn.
  21. Maybe the single purpose element of the project made securing financing/permits/variances/etc a bit easier. Just a guess
  22. I would highly recommend renting for a year before buying just to re-acclimate yourself to the region.
  23. I didn't know that Rockfeller's closed. We ate there just a few months ago. That's a shame but I wouldn't worry much about that building.
  24. ^You're welcome. And I would add that if any of the judges were pandering for votes/endorsements, it was the one writing the dissent. Politicians do this all the time when they vote no only after they know they measure will pass. It's a convenient way to get political cover.
