Cleveland Browns Discussion
If we are thinking of the same play, our receiver (who appeared headed towards the flat) was bumped off his route by the defender. The ref threw the flag but then it was announced that there was no penalty. No explanation given, but I assumed it was because our reciever was within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and the contact was therefore legal.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
The feeling I keep getting from reading comments away from this site is that 'the people' think they are being presented with an either/or choice. As if riding the train was being forced upon them. As if allowing this project to proceed will actually preclude and/or hamper their ability to continue to drive to the other two C's if they so choose (when, in fact, it will improve their ability to do so). It's almost as if Kasich and his pals have convinced them that rail advocates intend to replace I-71 with a 39 mph rail line. As for the people suggesting that the debate be re-framed... do you HONESTLY believe that would work? Do you HONESTLY believe that this issue has not reached the point of no return in politics? When was the last time an issue encountered a partisan division and then the other side simply said, "well, if you put it like that..." If mere ignorance were the issue, that would be one thing. But willful ignorance is an impossible mountain to overcome.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I told my football watching crew that if Colt took the Browns down the field in the 2:00 offense and tied the game, I would jump fully aboard the bandwagon. The seats are very comfortable. The bottom line is that even the best teams can't hang their heads with a split of back--to-back-to-back-to-back games with the Steelers, Saints, Patriots, Jets. The Jets' kicker.... and the Lake Erie Gods... kept us within reach and we capitalized by taking it into overtime. There were a couple of instances where things may have turned out differently for us. (1) Obviously, Stuckey's fumble hurt.... if he had merely stepped one more centermeter to the right with his foot before being touched, he would have been out of bounds and we could have chipped in the winning field goal after a few Hillis runs. (2) After Cribbs took the ball inside the 5, we ran three straight plays out of the shotgun..... that drove me nuts..... Give me three plays for Hillis to make less than 5 yards and I would bet the farm on it.... you just line him and Vickers up and make no secret about it. (3) (Below) Average Abe Elam dropping that interception on the goalline..... I mean, it did hit him right between the 2 and the 6 on his jersey. Anybody else notice that the refs missed an illegal hands to the face against McCoy on that last play before we had to punt out of the endzone? Kind of a cheap way to get a tie, but that is a five yard penalty and an automatic first down.

Kind of looks like Kansas City. Who the hell puts a commerical block from the Hallmark channel on youtube?

To my knowledge, a 'large parking garage' is exactly what they are planning.

And for those who might not know.... HRV stands for "Heavy Rail Vehicle", right? So, in other words, you are overhauling the redline trains?

American Regional Dialects
I could probably count on my hands the people that I have met from Dayton (who are natives and did not merely attend UD or live there at some point). But I can definitely pick up a very distinctive accent from them. It is not quite southern. It is not quite 'mountain/hillbilly'..... but there is a certain drawl to it that really stands out to me.

CLEVELAND - Clearly... (Updated 11/14/10)
A+, my man You can find some discussion about this on here. Not sure which thread, though. Basically, Cleveland's downtown is not that well situated for buildings over 21 stories. The bedrock needed to go above that height is so far down that building supertalls is nearly cost-prohibitive. Besides, anybody that knows Downtown Cleveland knows that, for the most part, its best areas (at street level) are in those gaps in the skyline. Skyscrapers, except ones built out of necessity, do more damage than good to the urban fabric IMO.... something I never realized before joining this site ;) They are pretty to look at from afar, but suck the life out of the street from up close.

There probably is also some laws that require a certain amount of parking to be added for such a venue. I know.... I know....

Why is the Dayton accent so distinctive? It seems like people in Cincy don't quite talk like that.

Rome never liked Lebron.... and his disdain may flow freely now that Lebron has alienated one of Rome's largest and most loyal markets.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
They are starting to frame the south side. It looks as if that building is being built in manner that will allow only a pathway between its backside and the Triangle apartment building behind it. Very nice.

Pet Peeves!
What about for double turn lanes? Right. Like on the East 9th exit ramp off westbound Rt. 2 where at least 1 in 5 of the drivers in the left turn lane feel it is within their discretion to choose which lane to turn into.... pushing the drivers in the right (but still turning left) turn lane into the curb. Those people drive me nuts.... but not as much as the dead man's curve 'cutters' :whip:

The ______ Movies of All-Time!
Not the "greatest".... but I just saw a good flick last night called "Winter's Bone" I think it won Sundance and is available on DVD now. Interesting perspective on the Ozarks.... a region of the Country that I am wholly unfamiliar with.... maybe for good reason ;)

NBA: General News & Discussion
No matter what you hear, the 'final nail' was set well before last season even started. The comment about playing time is odd though. I don't remember him ever complaining about playing too much when he was here.

He would be incorrect. Probably just an attempt to downplay it given the recent history.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
So I went to the game last night. First one I made it to this year and missed much of the first half due to that traffic jam on I-90. I get there and take my seat, look to my right (where the seating for the media members is located) and two feet away is none other than Aaron "the Hater" Goldhammer from WKNR. I said what's up to him and he was pleasant in return. He did, though, twirl his hair the ENTIRE game (at least the portion I was there for).... just like they always tease him on the radio.

Why? I think I am missing something here. First, natininja accuses us of 'touting' being more east coast and now you say that it is an insult to be likened to the midwest. What gives? I guess I didn't realize how shameful it is to be called midwestern :| BTW, if I wanted to take a shot at westsiders, I would use pictures

American Regional Dialects
True. There are no real dividing lines... hence, why I said "if I had to..." I think more in terms of regions. Cleveland, for instance, I would put in the Great Lakes Region.
