Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Latest rumblings are that Tom Izzo is Gilbert's top choice. Bob Finnan, the beat reporter for the News-Herald, even claims that an offer has been extended. Other reports are saying "not yet" BTW, the coach the Bulls just hired is represented by CAA, the 'World Wide Wes' agency. It is possible the Bulls either just made a calculated move or got played like a fiddle. IDK... the Thibbedeau (sp?) hiring is very similar to the Mike Brown hiring here. No head coaching experiece, career assistant promoted all the way from the video room, defensive specialist. I read that the Celtics considered him to be a key assistant but not a possible replacement for Doc Rivers should he leave to spend more time with his family in Florida.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
My best guess is that whomever Gilbert is eyeing to take over for Mike Brown as coach will also want some significant input on personnel decisions. IMO, Ferry was a very good GM, but he was playing with a loaded deck - owner willing to spend whatever it takes and the majority of other teams in the league looking to dump payroll. Windy is also saying that there was no way Ferry would have stuck around through a Calipari hiring. So.... that leads me to conclude, we are exploring the Calipari option and also looking at veteran coaches such as Larry Brown, who will want to have some control in front office decisions.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
^I think you mean to say that "it was clear that he was out".... IIRC, a "tie" goes to the runner, no? Even if that is the case, I would say this has to be the exception. 2 outs, bottom of the 9th and a perfect game going. Ballsy call by Joyce if there was any shred of doubt to it.... especially considering it was in Detroit.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
The ump did not have the viewpoint to determine whether he bobbled the ball. That was not the basis for calling Donald safe. Regardless, it was not a clear bobble which would have justified a safe call. After seeing it on replay, even Joyce admitted it was the wrong call. My favorite part of the replay was Donald's reaction.... almost seemed like he knew a sin had been committed.

2010 Gubernatorial Election
^I'd probably agree with that criticism of Strickland. HOWEVER, he (Kasich) will then have to tell me what exactly he will do jobs wise for the state, what taxes he is going to cut and how that will affect our operating budget, and how he will reduce the size of government and make it more efficient. If he can't articulate his plan and the rationale for that plan, his talking points will be nothing more than colored bubbles.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
Live/work lofts/studios for sure IMO. I have one friend who is an artist that loves her big open, light filled space that is "griddy" enough so that she does not care if paint spills on the floor... it just adds character. I have another friend who is a carpenter and keeps all of his tools and other equipment in his loft. I don't see the "luxury" angle working out. If not live/work, I would go with market rate apartments. I would think you are going to have to beat the price points in the CBD to entice tenants to live out there though.... not that it is that far at all, but it is probably beyond what most people would consider walking distance for commute purposes.

Strickland's participation (not to mention his performance) in that shamefully embarrassing "Lebron Song" may have cost him my vote.

In which "bad" neighborhoods do you like to spend your money?
I spent a month on West Adams one day. Horrible traffic around there.

In which "bad" neighborhoods do you like to spend your money?
"Grovewood" Tavern, not Greenwood. It is on Grovewood Ave. which is just east of the Waterloo district and north of the highway. What exactly constitutes "South Collinwood" has always confused me. South of the highway is on the rougher side I would say. Not sure about the crime, but the housing stock is definitely more worn down and mixed in with industrial areas. North of the highway is much nicer IMO. You have the new elementary school (which might be the nicest school building in the whole city), the park, establishments such as the Beachland and Grovewood, as well as E. 185 St. and all the shops/bars/restaraunts that line that strip. There are large residential neighborhoods on both sides of E. 185. However, I know to some people, "North Collinwood" only refers to those couple hundred feet north of Lakeshore Blvd. with everything south of that being "South Collinwood"

IMO, the area between the Waterloo district and E 185, north of the Shoreway, gets an undeserved bad rep. One of my closest friends just moved out of a house on E 170 (which pretty much runs right into the Grovewood) and I can tell you that he had some of the friendliest neighbors you could hope for. And not just the one's right next to him, but really up and down the street. It's more diverse than people assume too. The only complaint that he had was that there was a huge hole right in front of his tree lawn which literally could engulf a full grown man. Somebody dug it up at some point and never filled it. A certain politician (who I will spare from naming directly) promised to get it filled when he saw it but never did.

Young professional relocating to Cleveland
If it makes a difference, I would imagine TPL will be quieter, on a whole, than EBA.... especially if your EBA apartment fronts on 4th St. I think you will find good running routes at either location. Sure, there are probably a couple directions you would not want to venture too far into, but it won't take you long to discovery how to stay within a relatively safe zone.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Letter from M. Simon to LBJ: Dear LeBron, I first off would like to thank you for what you have done for the fine city of Cleveland. You have created a energy downtown that has not been seen in years and have allowed businesses to thrive beyond their wildest dreams. I know the decisions you have to make in the upcoming weeks will be difficult and I hope you follow your heart. I truly believe regardless of where you go championships will follow because you are just that damn good and that each city will embrace you (although not as much as Ctown..lol). As a fan of all sports I truly believe the greatest legends have built their status with one team (Emmit, Troy, Jeter, Magic, Bird, Brown, Russell..etc)...hell even MJ will only be remembered as a Bull. Regardless of what you decide I will always be a fan mainly because I know firsthand what a class act you are and would never fault someone who feels they are doing the best thing for their career and family. That being said I hope you choose to stay in Ctown with the Cavs so I can watch you finish what you started which is something not many people get to do. Best of luck, MS PS...I've never really been one to beg or bribe but if you do choose to stay I'll come over once a month to cook up a Iron Chef style dinner for your family and friends!! http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...omments&ref=mf Also, Larry King interviewed LBJ at his home in Bath this morning but the interview will not air until Friday). According to Windhorst though, these comments were made - LeBron to Larry King: "(Cleveland) does have an edge." More LeBron to King: "This city, these fans...have given me a lot in these 7 years. And...for me, it's comfortable." http://twitter.com/pdcavsinsider

We enjoyed meeting everyone as well. RnR - your baby boy is a cutie and seems like a genuinely happy baby. Looks like you are doing a good job. Peabody - You two seem like a great couple and I hope you decide to stay. We don't have too many southern gentlemen like your husband 'round these parts. Murray - Thanks for your service and good luck down the homestretch. Also, good luck finding your way back home.... I know, from personal experience, it is easier said than done.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
What an awful thing to say about Thomas, Scalia, Roberts, and Alito ;) You know who I was talking about......Kennedy! Wait.... Are you saying that Ronald Reagan (i.e. "he who shall not be questioned") nominated a commie liberal to our Nation's highest court? Hmmmmm.... I am going to have to look into some of Reagan's other "associations" / appointments. This is pretty damning evidence that he too may have been a commie liberal. And there is now? Isn't rampant crime the whole point of this conversation. In the Wild West, at least they allowed you to square your shoulders and draw at the same time.

They called it the "Wild, Wild" West for a reason. Everyone was armed yet criminals were not deterred.
