    You've been a busy boy!

I have been happy with T-Mobile, but have not really been around the block with the various providers. I think we had Altell and they pissed me off so we switched to T-Mobile about 7 years ago maybe and have been with them ever since. No serious issues. I think that reception and other performance qualities in the Cleveland metro will vary with the phone, not so much the provider. My G1 is the first phone I have had that gets reception in my basement. But if you travel a lot, you might want to go with a provider that has a broader national presence, like Verizon or AT&T

Find me one, single Republican candidate nationwide who has not made that talking point part of his/her platform and I will show you a lame duck in the primary. It's a pre-requisite to having a snowball's chance in hell, let alone thoughts of winning the election.
  4. So the shooter was from a wealthy subdivision in the Akron suburb of Green. He was a college student too. Just goes to show that you ALWAYS need to keep wits about you. My guess is the parking attendant got the better of this kid in the scrum, which the kid picked to try and impress his girlfriend. But then he turns his back on him and tries to go back to work, assuming the kid didn't have a gun. Regardless of what occured, this is very sad. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/04/shooting_victim_life_was_full.html
  5. Is this the first downtown shooting since the Perk Park incident in February 2009?

Yeah... and my tix are lonely tonight. You could make the 2nd half if you want.

Anyone want 2 tickets for tonight's game vs. Indy. Short notice, I know. But they're free if anybody wants them. PM me. Section 128. Lebron, Mo and Jamison are not supposed to play. I can send the tix over via Flashseats.
  8. NYC, SanFran and Chicago are the urban meccas of this country IMO. No other City can really compare with the density and sheer size of their cores.

When forumers come to this board, of all places, open up a big development thread and ask - "anything new? any updates?"

He played the wrist, because that was about all that was shown of the corpse. Great movie BTW though.... an even better soundtrack. Costner's acting abilities also shine through in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves... well, that is during the bits of a few scenes that he is actually able to maintain a British accent.
  11. I think Cincy and Charlotte have some similarities that Cincy could capitalize on if it really wants to become a modern boomtown. They both are "border" Cities whose metros expand out of state. They both have a good large corp. presence in the area. Both have miserable summers IMO, but while Cincy's winters can't compare to Charlotte's they are much more mild than places like Chicago, Minny and Cleveland.... which really acts as a deterrent for the latter three in this day and age of air conditioning when everyone is running for what once were considered uncomfortable areas of the country due to extreme heat/humidity/swampiness.
  12. They may have conerns about how the developers will treat the border between the rear of Hessler's residences and the rear of the proposed buildings. Will there be a fence? What kind? People who own properties like that are very conscious of these types of things. Another concern might be the parking/placement of trailers, construction equipment, etc. during the building phase. I really don't blame these residents for having such concerns. Howere, like I said, if they just don't want ANYTHING to be built on those lot's, they can go... (profanity not included).
  13. But is Hessler's objections based on the fact that the lot will be developed or on the lack of detail in the plans in terms of what exactly will be seen behind them? If it is the former, they should be put in their place. If it is the latter, I can understand their argument.
  14. There is one of these for Battery Park as well - http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=41.486005,-81.736565&spn=0,0.011995&z=17&layer=c&cbll=41.486008,-81.736379&panoid=yvv7WCaB_jwfT9ejWNSuwA&cbp=12,97.67,,0,5 Click on link and move back one. Same thing with the intersection behind it.

I have lot's of family on the East Coast, so I go there a lot (Philly, Jersey, NYC). While there, if I say I'm from Cleveland, the most common response I get is "oh...Ohio?" So, yeah, I get that point.
  16. If you plan to rely on public transportation to get to work at the CCF, then the Healthline should be a big "pro" on your downtown list. It is a straight shot and these beauts - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HealthLine - put the buses that run through CH to shame. I think they run every 5 mins too. I'm not a female, so I can't really relate to your concerns about the walk from Prospect/9th to W. 6 or elsewhere downtown, but I will say this - that walk is a lot less lonely than it was 10 years ago. A lot of people don't realize that... leading to some inaccurate opinions IMO. Since you like to go out, you should also feel out the nightlife crowd in the areas you are considering. C-F is a little bit older of a crowd than Coventry. Coventry has many more options though no matter what your taste. Downtown is a mixed bag. W 6 is much "rowdier" than E 4 and Gateway. The dance clubs are downtown. The housing downtown would likely be "nicer". The buildings around Coventry would remind you of some of the places you mentioned above. Brick exteriors, hardwoods, radiators, plaster walls, etc. C-F has a lot of older buildings similar to the ones on Coventry and duplexes as well.

Hey now... "Pookie" was one of the best football players I ever had the chance to take the field with. Yeah, he was "ghetto" as hell, but he sure knew how to blow up an Iso trap.

My boy loved naan when he was an infant. Couldn't get enough of it.

    ^Need I say more
  20. If the concept is even close to what they had originally proposed, it will be much more than an "alley" even if that is what they choose to call it. IIRC, it was more like a giant plaza similar in scope to Fountain Square in Cincy.
  21. Eh... just let him do his thing and let the OP assign whatever weight she desires. She is certainly going to run into a lot of people like him at the Clinic who have the same thoughts about areas of town that have any semblence of significant diversity. ^Haha... I removed that dig (benefit of being a premium member). But there definitely is the same level of "group think" among that crowd which Clevelander17 accuses us urban enthusiasts of having.

Of course you can't be CERTAIN of racial hostilities from such a statement... but you can certainly infer them. When describing someone to one of your friends, do you typically include the person's race? Like, "I went to high school with this black girl" or "one of my friends, who happens to be black" or "I work with this black guy." I would think that you only do so if the person's race has some RELEVANCE to the matter you are discussing. Otherwise, you would not even mention it, no? That's the point - what did the fact that MTS's nephew was black have anything to do with whether the clerk was justified in her suspicion... which would have been justified regardless of his skin color?
  23. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
^ Maybe, but.... If she had simply said "why is a 16 y/o kid from Cleveland doing with a platinum AMEX?" - her words would cause no reason to think that race had anything to do with the suspicion, which I would agree would be justified regardless of race. That was not the case per MTS and, allegedly, the store's video camera.
  24. To folks from Mentor, it seems to be Vine Street.... which people do sleep on a little bit around here.
  25. You're the best Michelle. Thanks. BTW, the term is holla'
