We already have. Maybe in the Uptown thread?

Don't forget the need for a clear definition of a "time of war" If the overall costs of Iraq were accurately forecasted to the people the way healthcare reform is being propagandized now.... I'm not so sure how loud that war cry from the right would have been.
  3. ^ With that project and the up-to-the-street build out of Hillcrest, I would say CCF is doing much better in its suburban construction than UH is doing in the Chagrin Highlands area.

^ The same size as LBJ's house in Bath! Not sure how I feel about the black glass and steel for that particular intersection but will wait for the renderings. Is there any indication that it will be something like that "cube" image we saw before?
  5. I tend not to argue when someone ribs on us for bad winter weather, but....... where the hell is Buffalo on their list?
  6. ^ We see eye to eye again :). That is why I said "core".... I consider the Ave District to be more on the fringe (que the onslaught of responses) and, for high priced condos, very poorly placed. More relevant to the current topic, does anyone know whether Circle 118 is experiencing similar success. Just judging from the exterior design and location, I personally like Coltman much, much better.

^^^ Tell that to the local governments who participate in very little entitlement spending yet cannot afford to pay for basic road repairs because the price of concrete, steel, etc has went through the roof and the labor costs have exponentially increased since, for example, the Chinese immigrants were installing our railroad tracks. That said, I'm not espousing that "entitlement" spending (or whatever conservatives call it now) is not an issue with our budget that will have to be addressed.
  8. Goes to show that, outside of the downtown core, the market for townhomes, rowhouses and cluster homes is much stronger than condo buildings.

With the continually rising costs of material and labor, I am very concerned about the future of our infrastructure. America wants the best services but doesn't want to pay for them with corresponding increases in taxes. It creates quite the dilemna for any level of government (local, state, national).
  10. I went to a wedding in Wisconsin just a few years back. WHOA can those boys and girls drink... every last one of them.

Welcome! The extra 1/2 bath requirement will probably negate a lot of options. Most of the older rental units in the Heights only have 1 full bath. You might be able to find a side-by-side duplex that has a 1/2 bath in the bsmt. Also, you may have to accept window units over forced air. For better variety, you might want to expand your search outward, where you will find newer buildings (less than 50 yrs old) that have central air and a master suite. If you want to stay in the Heights, your best bet might be to look at some houses. However, once again, you will be hard pressed to find a rental with central air under $1200 IMO. BTW, when I first moved back to Cleveland about 8 yrs ago, I rented a 3 bdrm, 1 bth house in Mayfield Hts for 2 years. IIRC, rent was $840/mo. It was a little monopoly house. Probably only 800 sq ft. I have a dog too, so a fenced in yard was a must. And I had just spent the past 7 yrs in NC, so central air was a must as well. I would have preffered the Heights, but could not find anything that met those req's within my budget at the time. You might be able to find a rental in your range that fits your requirements around the Cedar / Warrensville Ctr Rd intersection. Lots of bungalows in that area that can't go for much more than $1000/mo.
  12. Geez. Touchy bunch. Why so sensitive. Anyways... got the point although I don't think I have personally posted anything out of line. I am a football fan. If there was a Toledo Rockets thread, I would post there also. Note to my fellow Cleveland football fans - if you don't have something nice and pleasant to say about the other NFL team in this state, don't say anything at all. Let's keep things all peaches and ice cream fellas. After all, we don't want to seem "obsessed" with the Bengals :-D If you want to mix things up even a little bit, go to a Shitsburgh site... at least they can stomach a little back and forth.
  13. I know it doesn't really fit in with the doom and gloom theme around here, but there are also those scumbags who r collecting unemploy while getting paid under the table either by their former employer or a new one.... lots of them
  14. ^^Easy with the generalizations. Yes, we are a passionate bunch and can be a bit rough around the edges. Try to wear a Bengals jersey to Browns stadium - or if you are really ballsy, the dawg pound - and you will find out. But you don't have to condemn the whole lot of us as 'classless' due to the immaturity of a few you have interacted with on this forum. I usually read all these threads and with the exception of one poster, I don't see anyone coming over to any Cincy sports threads and going past any light ribbing you should expect in any rivalry. In the Cincy thread, that was more "OSU fan" than "Cleveland guy" giving you a hard time. Just so happens that some of those guys were from Cleveland which is a faithful OHIO State football town because, as you continually remind us, we have no major D1 team up around here. That said, I feel fairly conofident in saying that NEO has 14 times as many college football national championships in the last 20 years than the rest of the State combined!!
  15. What "news" told you so? I thought you didn't trust the news. Anyways, sorry for reporting a little sunshine on the dogs a@#. I will stick to the script until Jan 2013 rolls around, or if the devil is reelected, until 2017
  16. ^That should be an effective way to get rid of them. I know when I don't want to fight and want the other guy to walk away... I punch him in the nuts ;)
  17. Dead on Oldman. I was also speaking more towards a general perception and apologized if I wrongly sensed that perception in the original post. EC's just being EC. Don't take it personally. Just be glad he didn't throw in any "Oncler" accusations on top of what he said.... well, I guess he did :-D And to clarify... the Euclid Creek Reservation is "surrounded" by residential neighborhoods in South Euclid, Euclid and Richmond Hts with very little or no industry. There is a small sliver of Euclid to the north that is a mix of industry and residential before entering Cleveland (Colllinwood) on 185. For those who like outdoor workouts, I really like and recommend the reservation because of the slope. It is about 3.5 - 4 miles long and pretty much all downhill going north. I can warm up on my way from my house to the southern entrance, work up a sweat without overexerting myself on the way down, and then really bust my chops to finish out the workout by either heading back up the slope or going up either Grand Blvd or Highland. Along the path, they have pull-up / push-up bars, tires, etc. to mix in some strength training. There are also some dirt trails (but no bikes allowed) on either side of the path and a couple really nice picnic areas... which are so popular that sometimes you can't find an open grille.
  18. I like surprises sometimes - January unemployment rate drops to 9.7 percent WASHINGTON – The outlook for jobs became a bit less bleak with January's unexpected decline in the unemployment rate, which fell to 9.7 percent from 10 percent as more people said they had jobs. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100205/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/us_economy

^I believe that every community has to fall within one school district or another. Bratenahl here in the Cleveland area is its own municipality surrounded by the lake to the north and the City on all other sides. It doesn't have a public school system and doesn't have much use for one considering the make-up of its population. Those who do have kids, send them to private schools. But... I do believe it falls within the City of Cleveland school district and the residents pay taxes to that district and can send their kids their if they choose.

That Inland Empire has me thinking Arby's
  21. We lost out on some alleged big time recruits this year that some "insiders" thought we were going to get - Lamarcus Joyner (Fla kid going to FSU), Sean Henderson (Minn kid going to USC). But, IMO, what hurts is that we might have had our worst year in Ohio in recent memory. The state's consensus top player, Jordan Hicks, went to Texas. Another top 5 guy, Matt James, went to ND. Latwan Anderson from Glenville verballed to WVU but might change his mind and go to USC. It appears Tressel's fence has a couple holes that need mending. That said, we do have an overall young team and that has to be discouraging to some top line recruits who want immediate PT. I suspect 2011 will be much better on the recruiting front.
  22. Too much Browns loyalty in Akron/Canton. The market could not support another team.
  23. Sorry. Understood. I think it was the "not so pretty surroundings" line that threw me off as it is actually surrounded by, well.... my neighborhood. I've never counted the cars but I suppose you are right statistically speaking. People do use it to short cut from Highland to Green. But it is also packed all the time with people seeking recreational fun and, unfortunately, would be even moreso if not for unwarranted fears (from others) that some family reunion is going to jump you. I know some people who drive all the way out to Chagrin Reservation because they don't like the "surroundings".... unfortunate.

It definitely had the best scene of any ST movie at the end there when Spock dies. And maybe the best line - "the good of the many outweighs the good of the one" Overall though, I thought the movie is not nearly as entertaining as the Voyage Home or as thought provoking as the Undiscovered Country. My history with Star Trek is due to my sister being a "Treker/Trekie" (she could tell you the difference... whichever one does NOT dress up for the conventions is her) and us only having one TV. Actually, I hated the original series when I was a kid and still do not turn it on when I see it is on. But I certainly appreciate the social barriers the show broke through and its loyalty to ensuring that the scientific aspects of its vision of the future are even plausible. As a fun fact, I believe the show had the first black-white kiss.

Wrath of Khan was my favorite of the Star Trek movies. Apparently it was 327's as well. Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
