Cleveland Browns Discussion
Nobody will argue whether Cribbs deserved to make the PB. But I have heard some say that JT made it on name recognition and because he has become a perennial participant. Not sure about that. He only allowed one sack (another occurred when the QB spun right into his man) and I believe was only called on one hold all season. You might not hear his name much, but that is the sign of a good OL.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Which Bengal has the biggest gripe for not being named outright to the pro bowl. I think a few will make it in as alternates, but there should have been at least one member of the AFC North's champion on the original team, no?

US Economy: News & Discussion
I just don't buy it. The powers that be are too busy covering up UFO landings and hatching new plans to bomb brown people to spend the time necessary to carry out such an intentionally misleading nationwide scheme.

US Economy: News & Discussion
Why does the media want us to falsely think the economy is improving? Is there a conspiracy at play between the FEDs and the media we should all be aware of? Where do they meet and plot such a thing?

A Decade of.............
I completely know what you mean. I was really young in '92 but I still remember that. alright, I admit this is mainly a matter of being old and not "getting it," but just how did "culture... change overnight" in 1992?? :wtf: As far as I know no one talks about '92 the same way they do about 1968, for example, or the 60's in general. Would someone provide some examples! 1992 brought us Bill Clinton in office (good or bad) and the Rodney King saga. But I think the "culture" change element came mostly from the introduction to the maintstream of alternative rock music. Think Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Other States: Passenger Rail News
Not at all trying to disprove your point noozer, but Charlotte residents are all about what is "new" and "hip" and "trendy". They were overly joyed to get a light rail line because, to them, it presented just more evidence that they are transforming from a mid-sized southern City into a major metropolis. We'll see if that enthusiasm lasts, especially once the residents from east of the line start noticing more and more use of the light rail from those living west of the line.

Go out to the sunset strip in LA. You'd think there wouldn't be any surface lots on that prime real estate, but the parking restrictions on surrounding streets (local residents only), no "cruising" laws and the ability to charge a small mortgage payment for a spot on Saturday night, along with minimal maintenance and other costs, gives the land owners absolutely no reason to build over the asphault. Here in cleveland, the relative success of w. 6th has made those lots nearly 24 hrs of gold. But I do know that weston wants to develop nonetheless and swing for the fences. Financing is the issue. So, whatever angle you look at it from, it is all about $$$- What to do in Cleveland?
Was "la strada" the place you went to on e 4th? Kind of chic and has that euro feel to it.- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
I guess the words "added" and "plus" mean something different in your dictionary. My rec is that you read the post one time to gather the words and then a second time to understand them. Some of us just like the way that trees and other green designs look. If they give the other benefits that you repetitively find a way to slip into most of your ad nauseam posts, all the better.- Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
The movement had the right idea imo. It took the best aspects of right wing american politics and removed the social police notion from the conversation. It gave pro glbt, pro choice, etc fiscal conservatives a platform to get fully behind. But it seems that these tea parties have perverted that purpose and simply been an opportunity to rally the outspoken segments of the right wing- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
I've long liked the idea of either a living wall or some other artful expression on that western wall.... for reasons of pure aesthetics, not to save the dolphins, fix the ozone or anything like that. Added benefits would be plus, but not the motivation or controlling factor IMO. Why not just give that blank canvas to CIA and see what they come up with? I'm thinking of something like what we have on the backside of the cedar lee theatre but on a larger and grander scale. Another idea would be to put the original we are witnesses mural there. I'm sure it is just sitting in storage somewhere and might actually fit perfectly- What to do in Cleveland?
It is just across the river from downtown. If you head over there, maybe just poke your head inside the west side market which is right there on the other side of w 25. Kind of a weird day for touristy stuff though... day after xmas and wet. But you r staying very close to both the rock hall and the science center if either are your thing. I believe that the rock hall still has its springstein exhibit going and glsc has some sort of water exhibit. For nightlife, you can stay right downtown. Should be plenty of action tonight. Everything you may want is down there - restaraunts, bars, sofa lounges, dance clubs, strip clubs, music venues, etc- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue

It is in the millions upon millions of Americans that are unemployed. Ohio jobless rate rises in November http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2009/12/14/daily53.html It is in the trillions that have been needed to keep our financial system from a depression. It is in the construction industry that has only begun to see huge defaults in the commercial sector. It is in the housing sector that needs taxpayer money to keep sales from drop even more. It is in biggest foreclosure crisis since the great depression. It is in state and local government budgets that in many places are nearing default levels. Including Ohio. It is in the growing concern that major nations in Europe and Asia may default on their national debt. I know to some these are small, minor issues. But for those that are trying to insure shelter for themselves or their family (tent cities are become quiet popular around the country), are on food stamps and living on unemployment checks, its seems a little larger. Unfortunately, those having these issue continue to grow and are at levels not seen since the great depression. Other than that you are right, what recession? You two might be arguing apples and oranges. Perhaps Cincinnatus' question was operating under a traditional definition of a recession as a "business cycle retraction" Things are bad, no doubt. But if they are better then they were 6 months ago, we are not currently "in" a recession. The "end" of a recession is not when things get back to the way they were. The "end" is when the economic "slowdown" ends and we either reach the point of stagnation or growth. That said, I have no opinion on whether we are currently in a recession. I leave that analysis to more boring people.- Anyone know a good PI/accident attorney?
A friend of yours "out of town" was hurt? Is the injured person here or out of state? That isn't clear. Unless the lawyer is licensed to practice in multiple states, they need a lawyer in the area where the accident occured. Or, under most courts' jurisdictional rules, the County where the defendant resides or conducts his/her primary business.- Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
I put on Lettermen last night. Could be mistaken, but it seemed like Symon got totally dissed. When Lettermen returned for his final segment, he stated that some chef named Michael Symon was supposed to be a guest but that they were out of time and could not have him. He sarcastically held up Symon's new book like he was being forced/paid to do so and did a sad little plug he was obviously not interested in doing. Real sarcastic about it. Mentioned that Symon was there with his whole family but now they would have to go home. What didn't make sense is that in the time he did all this, he could have brought Symon out to waive at the crowd and hold the book up himself.- Cleveland Browns Discussion
^Jon Gruden would be the logical choice given their connection and Gruden being from the Sandusky area. However, Gruden stated on MNF last night that he will not be returning to coaching "next season" Of course, plenty of coaches have given such assurances before and, when put in front of a big stack of $$, their minds seem to change rather easily.- Ohio: Residency Rule Requirement
^Remind them to shut the lights off when they leave. Seriously folks, do you really want to force people to live in Cleveland... even if they agreed to do so 20 years ago? And while I cannot exactly determine the true figures, it is not a hypothesis on my part that the submission of change of address forms since June were from many, many employees who moved out in 2006 or before. It is an informed comment.- Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Not TV, but Tony Rizzo and the Really Big Show have been asked to guest host Jim Rome's radio spot again next week. They did this back in September as well. So now the whole nation gets to hear Aaron - I have a job because mommy and daddy are friends with the boss - Goldhammer hate on Cleveland sports.- Cleveland: Demolition Watch
I am sure that there were alot of interior decors and fixtures that they want to remove and sell before tearing down the building - such as brass pipes, marble, moulding, etc. The exterior stone probably has some significant value on the market as well as does the iron fence.- Cleveland Browns Discussion
Brady Quinn's injury history since his NFL career began concerns me. That said, I doubt Holmgren leaves the QB position as is. He prides himself on making back-ups into pro-bowlers (see Matt Hasslebeck and Steve Young) I hope Lerner is more than happy to provide Holmgren with the leverage he desires in his upcoming contract talks with Seattle. I don't see this as amounting to much more than that. Mmmmmmm.... crow tastes better than I thought. However, I will say that I still think the original intent of coming to Cleveland was for leverage, but it appears that Lerner really sold him on becoming a savoir of this great football town. It was either that or the extra $2 million per year the Browns' offer exceeded the one put on the table by Seattle.- Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
#3 has the potential for inclusion of a center piece. If that ends up being the selection, I would like to see something more than a grassy field at the top. Something that will draw people up that hill. Something iconic yet indicative. - Cleveland: Weston / Gilbane Warehouse District Plans
