Cleveland: Random Development and News
FYI (b/c I had to look it up myself), Ward 5 encompasses the Central, North Broadway and Kinsman neighborhoods. IMO, the Greenhouse sounds like just the right fit for a development along the possible "Opportunity Corridor."

MMPI's expertise is in running "fill in the blank" marts, not major development being funded with public monies.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Here's what I can decipher: Hagan, Dimora and Lawson-Jones, as the Bd of Commissioners, filed a lawsuit sounding in contract (real estate) but seeking declaratory judgment and injunctive relief. The primary defendants were (1) Cleveland Times Square Holdings at Six Points LLC (c/o Louis Frangos), (2) Frangos, (3) K&D Group, and (4) Herrick Hudson LLC (a Virginia company). Herrick Hudson LLC counterclaims against the County Board and files a Third Party Complaint against (1) Key Bank Assoc. (as successor to Society Natn'l Bank, Ameritrust and the Cleveland Trust Co.), (2) Ninth Street-Euclid LLP (a Delaware company), and (3) Ninth Street-Euclid Corp (c/o The Richard Jacobs Group). Cleveland Times Sq., Frangos and Herrick Hudson all have the same attorney so their interests must be aligned. Same goes for the two Ninth Street companies. The most telling thing to me is that a successor to Cleveland Trust Co. was named (Key Bank), meaning that whatever deal they are litigating is quite old.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Basically, Bill Mason is seeking assistance from outside counsel and is asking either the court or the board to approve the hiring of that law firm to represent the county in the case you cited to. Lots of players in this suit - the County, the Commissioners, K&D, Frangos, Jacobs, Key Bank, other LP's and LLC's - which, for the time being, has been limited to determining the validity of some lease assignment concerning the AT complex.

I on the fence about that. There are a lot of legal issues, that we really dont need to be involved in even if it is our money. Do you really want to know all the sh*t behind the scenes and if you do, will we (the general public) really understand? Transparancy will only get you so far before it's so transparent it becomes impossible to negotiate in confidence. Remember what von Bismark said: "If you like good laws and good sausages, never ask how either on is made". Bingo!

dogs and baby are chick magnets. my cousin met his girlfriend while picking up my niece and nephew at school. Dogs can also be quite a deterrent depending on the "chick"..... now puppies, they are worth their weight in gold for ice breaker purposes.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The move to Brooklyn is still a few years away and the team is in a major state of rebuilding. If Lebron ever joins the Nets, it won't be until his next contract is up in 2013.

I hope Lerner is more than happy to provide Holmgren with the leverage he desires in his upcoming contract talks with Seattle. I don't see this as amounting to much more than that.

Photos of Cleveland
Great glamour shots of the City. A little different strategy than I am used to seeing in these threads. But certainly nothing wrong with focusing on all that is grand about the city's core. From where did you take the shot of the WHD looking toward the Justice Center and then on to the RRHOF and the Lake. Some rooftop on W. 9th?

There is something terribly wrong here. It is one thing to leave while still under contract... but this guy is taking off right before the biggest game in the programs history. Realistically, when is the next time Cincy will be in this position to finish an unbelievable undefeated season with a victory over a team that held the #1 rank all regular season and who most every expert picked to win the NC when the season began. I think ND can hold its own off the football field. UC is a good school, but it hardly has the academic prestige of ND. ND is a top 25 school. Cincy is tier 2 or 3 I believe. You are better off directing the smack at the whole Cincy vs. South Bend thing because that is a landslide. South Bend is the armpit of the midwest.

I could care less personally. I'm not Italian and probably wouldn't be offended if I was. But I'm looking at it from the opposite angle than you MTS. Guido is a derogatory Italian term, although it is used quit often among young Italians.... somewhat similar to the "n" word among black youths. It doesn't have nowhere near the historical context, but is derogatory nonetheless. Imagine a black reality show where the characters were referred to with the "n" word. Then imagine that they got the most stereotypical hood bangers and ghetto rats to be the characters. This is the same basic concept, just using Italians. But I agree that this crowd is very typical of the Jersey shore and I know from first hand experience. I guess it's the use of the term that throws up a flag for me, because I am pretty sure this would be a bigger deal if say there was a show like I hypothesized above or how about a group of "queens" (pink boas and all) tossing the "f" word around.

If find this debate over MTV's "Jersey Shore" pretty interesting. http://tv.yahoo.com/jersey-shore/show/45540/news/tv.tvguide.com/tv.tvguide.com-mtv-exec-bums-me-out-people-are-offended-jersey-shore Remember Dave Chappelle's "mad real world" - http://www.metatube.com/en/videos/8253/Dave-Chapelle-Mad-Real-World/ (link not safe for work or kids) Hysterical yes, but imagine if that concept was turned into a real show. Is there a double standard?

To me, it's a risk/reward analysis for Kelly. Going to ND, he will either make himself a God or completely ruin his promising career. I think some of the younger forumers don't quite know what it is like with ND on top and the Domer Nation walking around with their chest out. Not sure about Cincy, but up here around the Great Lakes, it can get quite annoying. And it is hardly just the alumni and students, it is every Irish-Catholic household. If he returns ND to glory, he will be set for life. If he fails, well... look at how far Charlie Weis has fallen.

^I think you drastically underestimate ND's "pockets" Take it from a guy who is around ND grads all day long... the school has the money to pay Kelly whatever the FMV is for a coach of his stature.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
My ND alumni co-workers who claim to have inside knowledge, say that Kelly was #3 on ND's list of coaches they wanted to offer the job. The first two were Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops. Meyer was never really in the conversation and Stoops apparently has no interest in leaving Oklahoma. That makes Kelly #1 and ND will make a hard push for him. And I don't think that ND really does "interviews" for head coaching positions. They pretty much know if they want a guy or not prior to ever sitting down with him. So... "listening" is the same as interviewing for this particular job. If Kelly were smart, he should wait on another rumored event - that being an ND Bd. of Trustees vote to return to the 6 exemption system they used under Holtz. Right now, ND will only grant the football team 2 exemptions from the academic portion of the application process.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
... and the relevant development information from the article. The first phase, a $270-million to $300-million project, also will include a 150-room hotel, a parking garage, a health club, restaurants and a park. Construction could start in the spring. Considering the scope/shape of Phase 1, combined with the chance that future phases will not be built anytime soon, if ever, I really hope that care is taken to incorporate Phase 1 with the WHD as opposed to creating a separate mini-neighborhood.

I heard on the radion in CLE today that Kelly is meeting with.... errrr, "listening" to.... ND officials today in NYC about the head coach job. This is not the time that Cincy needs this kind of distraction, getting ready for possibly the biggest game in their program's history. There should be some kind of rule in the NCAA that another school cannot talk to a coach until the season is over.
