  1. East 4th in downtown Cleveland hands down. 450 feet of urban bliss. You are officially exiled. Enjoy life on the other side of the river.
  2. Have you done something to deserve one, like risking your life for the rest of us? Not all vets risked their lives while in service. One of my best friends was in the Navy for four years. His job - barber. There is a lot more to being in the military than holding a gun. Just saying....
  3. Didn't we used to have a thread going for the two or three buildings accross the street from 1030 (I am assuming that 1030 is on the south side of Euclid)? I remember seeing pictures of the facades being removed but we have not discussed them much since then. What is the status of that renovation? Also, with 1030, does anybody know what use is intended following the renovation?
  4. I didn't say you did, but conservatives often do.

I believe out of Cities its size or larger in the lower 48, Marquette has the most severe weather in terms of snow. Great looking town nonetheless.

    What he said.
  7. Touche. I think I am going to vote yes. I sure wish people holding your political school of thought would say the same thing about "the kids" when school levys are on the ballot.
  8. Anybody voting yes? If so, I would be interested in your arguments. I get the points made above, but being a military brat for part of my life... I have some hesitation voting no on this issue.
  9. Tearing down that garage makes little sense to me... unless it was part of a broader plan to calm traffic patterns at that intersection or to make way for a hotel.

I'm done until next April. Done I says.

Delonte gets all the therapy he needs on the hardwood during the season. What Ferry has to figure out is how to manage him during the off-season. When he is playing, he is fine... more than fine from what I have heard as he is the class clown in the locker room. Sure, he does still have his issues, but playing basketball and being around his teammates balances him out it seems. The real problems manifest in the off-season when he has nothing better to do than make rap videos in a KFC drive-thru.

Something tells me that he should have chosen "truth"

Welcome back Delonte! Paul Pierce was dead on when he called West the "glue" of our squad.

I didn't realize that Brown, Voinovich, Strickland and Fisher have all lined up against Issue 3.
  15. Same intersection for sure, but are you sure they are talking about the same parcel? From the article - “The EE building is there now. We are relocating individuals in that building,” which would be razed to make way for the lab.
  16. Good questions. I thought the CC/MM was supposed to be sited a little further down Huron over the parking lots and large ramp... but that wedge where Huron meets Ontario could be part of the plan. I don't think it will extend south on Ontario; meaning, the street presence will likely be on Huron. The only question I have is where does the fountain and turnabout go. I have never seen a casino without those features (not that I would be opposed to leaving them out). See: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,20859.0.html

I don't like the method being used to bring casinos here, but sometimes the ends justify the means. That is what I am banking on and why I am voting yes on Issue 3. Hell, it is not like we didn't already pimp our state constitution a few years back with the gay marriage ban. If Ohio is going to allow a mob mentality to overtake our representative form of government, then we might as well pass this issue.
  18. I absolutely love the site selection. It really was the only site that made sense if Gilbert wanted the Casino woven into our urban fabric. The only thing I will say is that something will have to be done about making that intersection more pedestrian friendly.
  19. Both Cities have some good things going for themselves. Both also have some serious downfalls. They each will have and have had their ups and downs in terms of perception. Pittsburgh just held the G-20 so it is walking around with its chin up right now. However, I think many locals would tell you that Pitt is currently living in a bubble that could burst at any time. Cleveland's economy is down but its finances are reasonably stable. Pittsburgh is just the opposite at present. In the long run, I have more faith in our mindset of sustainability.
  20. Isn't it amazing what happens to our crime statistics when numbers from the entire MSA, and not just the City proper, are taken into account.

Now that would be a fight that I would pay to see!
  22. I didn't think that CCF had any concrete plans (no pun intended) for that parcel. From what I understood, the plan was always just to make it into a parking lot and reserve that space for future expansion down the road.

I was at the game last night. Our starters outplayed their starters, but their bench murdered our bench. However, once Powe gets healthy (hopefully by January) and if we get Delonte back, our rotation will be dramatically improved. Powe will take over the 4th big man spot from Hickson and might even come off the bench before Z. Delonte will either start or be the first guard off the bench. We missed him last night bigtime. Ray Allen absolutely abused Boobie and that was a major reason Boston made that from the end of the 1st through midway point of the 3rd quarter. Delonte might be one of Allen's toughest matchups. I just worry that the rumors of us possibly signing Antonio Daniels means the news is not good on Delonte. One note about Boston is that KG looks very fragile out there. Everytime he got hit, he was very slow to get up. I doubt they will be able to keep him, Pierce, Allen and Sheed healthy all year.

My friend lives in the old Board of Education building on E. 63 just north of the Village. It is a nice building and they did a nice job converting it into rentals. I don't know the exact measurements, but I'd guess the ceilings are 15-20 feet, with large paneled windows in his main living space (he has a corner unit). It might be considered a studio (?) because, although it has a separate bedroom and office, the walls separating the rooms are probably only 10 or 12 feet high. This is it - http://www.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=41.475853,-81.646727&spn=0.00086,0.004812&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=41.475852,-81.646725&panoid=XFGXIruJXVDtW5vkrVj_FQ&cbp=11,322.94,,0,5.08 The building is secure and they have a gated parking lot. Sad thing is that there is a large park across the street and I don't think anyone in the building uses it. I thought the owner of this building also owns the complex on the southeast corner of that intersection and had some aspirations for redevelopment. If you pan over on the link I posted, there is a sign saying something like "New Housing for Cleveland", but I can't make it out completely.

Gilbert is pushing Yes on 3 hard at the Q tonight. Tons of ads during the timeouts and intermissions.
