  1. GHT's menu is rather small.... but they do have a veggie dish and I believe everything is organic. The problem with an exclusively veggie restaraunt is that people that need some 'sustenance' with their meal will not want to go with their veggetarian friends/family to eat there. Two of my sisters and my mom are all veggetarians so we often have this problem. We usually compromise on places like Lemongrass or Cafe Tandoor where everybody can get what they want.
  2. Predictable. L&R probably figures that they can keep the revenue flowing with the parking garage (which is always filled with people going to the Justice Center) and just hold off for a big payday when/if the project takes off and the demand for a convention-sized/connected hotel emerges.
  3. I see white people.... j/k.... although the total lack of diversity does stand out. I have mixed feelings about this place from what I can see in the pictures. Love the architecture.... not so much the layout. And seeing the Cheesecake Factory planted there takes the word "urban" out of the equation for me. JMHO.
  4. St. Clair and Nottingham is not a bad neighborhood. It's not white picket fences.... but far from what I would consider a place you don't want to stand out on the corner. Generally speaking and considering your route, you should worry about the areas between E 55th to about E 152nd. However, you will be fine on those streets and the areas west of 55th and east of 152nd.

The Cavs have supposedly signed Jamario Moon to an offer sheet. Miami will have an opportunity to match. Given what we have left to spend, the offer can't be for much but I would still be suprised if Miami matches given its other, more urgent needs. Moon could play a role on this team. 29 yr. old 6'8 SF. You could probably run him and LBJ together a lot with the Shogun in the middle. Gets by more on his athleticism and hustle than talent. A lot like AV in that respect. Broke into the league late as a 27 yr old rookie with Toronto IIRC. 47% FG, 35% 3FG and 85% FT.

    It does??
  7. Well, let's see..... I don't remember hearing a peep about this beating from the media or any outrage by the public. With all the witnesses, you'd think there would be something more than what McCleveland posted. I wonder how the media and the public would react if a white attorney from Shaker Heights gets beaten by some black hoodlums from Cleveland..... hmmm....
  8. ^^ On the north side of Euclid?? Perhaps the ground floor of 515? ^ Where is the old vivo space?
  9. ^ We can assume, but how do we know the attack was racially motivated. I wish the author had been more clear on that point. As he wrote it, it simply seems like he is inferring that the attack was a hate crime because it occured in LI and because one of the victims was a minority.
  10. It is no secret that the long-time LI residents do not want blacks in their neighborhood. Always been that way. Now this was about 15 years ago.... but a white high school classmate of mine was jumped by his neighbors after he moved to LI and threw a party that was attended by other classmates who were black. He said the neighbors made it quite clear why they jumped him. Of course, when about 10 of us went and stood outside his house the next day seeing if anybody wanted to engage in a fair fight... none of the neighbors had much to say, shuffling in and out of their homes with their eyes on the ground. Since then, however, I think the neighborhood has changed for the better with a more diverse (albeit not racially) population moving in. But I still would not recommend that any minority eat at the LI restaraunts for fear of what might be done to the food.
  11. Boy.... we owe the State a solid for fixing the 'blight' with this project. It should spur other meaningful investment in the area. Plus, the BRT will efficiently shuttle the panhandlers to and from public square and other parts of downtown. I see nothing but positives. :drunk:
  12. 1. Akron? 2. Canoes? 3. Portage? Isn't he referring to a route he used and was later used as the roadmap for the Ohio & Erie canal, linking the Ohio River with Lake Erie?
  13. Shaker Square to Willougby in 30 minutes is pushing it. I agree with KJP - you should definitely check out the area around downtown Willoughby. The nightlife is suprisingly good. However, it might get monotonous after awhile. If that doesn't work for you, I would look downtown for the highway access and easy commute down the shoreway. If you want to live in an area where you will find more healthcare professionals, look into Little Italy, Coventry and University Circle.
  14. Ideally, I would still want it on the water somehow, but (putting financials aside) the Galleria is a better idea than the Powerhouse IMHO b/c it would be more clustered with our other tourist attractions (GLSC and RRHOF). The foot traffic up and down E 9th from the Stadium to NCH would be impressive.
  15. The Ameritrust tower..... I assume is what he meant even though it is not currently occupied by a banik.
  16. I admire and am grateful for your dedication brother. Thanks for the pics. Your shots were always good, but they just keep getting better. I assume you were out there on Tuesday in the afternoon because I was watching the same USAF place fly around Burke.... Not sure what the hell they were doing.
  17. I am also disappointed that they are not going to punch out windows on the north half of the west side of the building. Will apartment be in that area of the building?.... or maybe that is where the elevators, stairs, (something else) will be located? Maybe something creative can be done to dress up those walls some.... like Nike did with the eastern wall on Landmark. I do like the fact that they will use the new and improved Euclid Avenue sidewalk design / streetscape in the plaza.
  18. I have always liked the Higbee building idea. I hear FCE is offering a $1 per yr lease on some significant space  Does anyone know how many square feet the County currently uses for its offices?
  19. Unfortunately, if my son wants to go see Mickey Mouse in person, we have to take the long trip to Orlando, Florida. I really wish there was a Disney World annex here in Cleveland. It would save me the travel time. Hope that cleared things up. Now have a cup of coffee. Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhn!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard it was going to be for 6 mill over 2 years. I like the signing... especially a those numbers, but make no mistake that he has lost a step. I am curious as to what his role will be though. I doubt he is going to supplant Delonte in the starting lineup. And if Boobie's toe heals and he is back to form, it will be interesting to see who is the first guard off the bench.

I've seen reports that Andy's deal is for 6 yr 50 mill. A little less than 8.5 mill per yr. Pretty high numbers for a player best used as the 3rd big man. However, I would suspect that there is some frontloading and backloading (probably more of the latter) in the contract to maximize flexibility for next summer. Considering the contracts that comparable players such as Villanueva (5/35) and "Birdman" Anderson (5/25) signed, there will be a lot of talk that we spent too much on Andy. Honestly, I thought we could have got him for less, but I am not terribly dissappointed. Villanueva is more talented, but has 1/10 the heart and can only play one position. Birdman is 31 yrs old and is one joint/rock/rail/etc. from being out of the league permanently. I was never really worried about losing Andy to another NBA team, but I had a bad feeling that the Euro clubs were going to make a push for him if we did not pony up some $$$.
  22. 14 restaraunts? What am I missing.... Flannery's Lola La Strada Greenhouse Tavern House of Blues Wonder Bar 4th Street Bar and Grille Pickwick Saigon Zocalo Erie Island That's 11, right?
  23. I with you BizBiz. Agreed on almost all of your points. Good point about the visitors/families. I will add that these hospitals have rotational shifts working around the clock, so it is not a business development where the employees all disappear to the suburbs after 5 p.m. Also agree with McCleveland that the subsidized housing is the much more troubling development proposed for Midtown in the past few weeks. Terrible, terrible idea, especially considering that the location (unlike the location proposed for the Hospital) is ripe for residential development or at least REALISTICALLY could be within the next 10-15 years.
  24. It might make sense if you buy a place that has a property tax abatement and you have enough down payment cash on hand to avoid a PMI. Otherwise probably not because rent is relatively cheap around here. You'll find plenty of new builds and renovations with tax abatements usually ranging from 7-15 yrs. The other option would be to check out some options of foreclosed homes and hope you hit gold when the market rebounds. However, I would not recommend that for someone who is not intimately familiar with the area.
  25. Bottom line is this IMO: by the time that specific area of Euclid is ready for the type of residential influx and pedestrian vibrancy 327 and others envision, the psychiatric hospital will be about ready to come down anyway. BRT or not, there are way too many areas of the City more promising for sustainable gentrification. sh!te, the port relocation and lakefront project will be done before meaningful residential buildings start popping up around 55th and Euclid regardless of any psych hospital. The BRT is a long stretch. There is A LOT of filling in to do and PLENTY of room to do it.
