  1. Maybe that 'a guy was standing on the street corner in the ghetto', as you put it, with two wallets containing $2500 in cash while wearing over $15000 in jewelry? If I was the police, I'd be watching to see if this guy files any kind of insurance claim and/or investigate whether he recently visited one of the casinos
  2. Maybe the club owners are just trying to run a protection racket on the City

^B-b-b-but he is according to people who know the game a helluva better than anyone on this board. How many of Cooper's catches and yards were actually against Haden? Is Haden to blame when they run Cooper across the defense and he burns our slow-footed strong safety for 43 yards? Is he to blame when a perfectly thrown ball is caught at its highest point like Marshall's TD in week one where Haden had it defended as good as it could be defended? Do you have any clue how difficult a job modern day CBs have under these new rules which flag them for breathing too hard on the WR? For sure, Haden is probably not an all-time great CB, b-b-but there isn't one team in this league that wouldn't take him.... n-n-not one. He's elite amongst CBs playing today. Haden and Gipson are great. The rest of the secondary, not so much. Whitner in particular is getting picked on this season. I disagree. It all starts with the QB play. Good QBs make the talent around them better. And they keep the offense moving, which allows the defense to stay rested and off the field. I know this is an extreme example, but take Tom Brady off the Pats and they are a below .500 team. With him, they are SB contenders. We have to solve the QB issue. If we do, everything will fall into place. There aren't too many losing teams, if any, with elite QBs

To state the obvious, if you want to be a team that runs the ball and stops the run, you have to be able to run the ball and stop the run.
  5. I'm all for saving Elliot for when it counts
  6. ^that's not correct. But the new law does allow the city to require residency in Cuyahoga or abutting counties for emergency responders
  7. The predicted mass exodus of city employees did not occur. Many left, but no more than a statistical hiccup in this study. Also, I'd expect a more detailed analysis would reveal some surprising trends demographic wise outside of race, as has been discussed here many times

^We can use the trade exception we obtained this summer for Haywood. We could also sign-and-trade TT next summer to whatever team is willing to blow their load on him. A third option would be to sign a title chaser to either the MLE (which will be significantly higher next summer, or to the vet minimum like David West did with the Spurs this summer. We are not backed in a corner at all. We have options. Griffin knows what he is doing. If TT wants to test FA next summer, he can do so and see where the market sets his value. I doubt it is going to be much more than what is on the table for him right now. If he doesn't give us right of first refusal, then so be it, but he should.... especially if his connection to LeBron is as strong as you think it is.

^No other team can put 5/94 in front of him. That is the max we can offer him and since we own his Bird Rights, we can offer a higher contract and for more years than anyone else. Other teams would only be able to offer him 4 years at less $ per year (I don't know the exact numbers). Next year too..... we will be able to offer more than any other team. TT wants what a lot of players are wanting this summer.... the ability to hit the FA market next summer (Harrison Barnes just turned down a huge offer from GSW to do just that). His durability means he isn't too concerned about injury and he's young enough to wait. He would take the Cavs offer if it came with an out next summer, but he doesn't have the same leverage that LeBron has in that regard. Personally, I think he should take the money. You won't find anyone, but TT and his agent, who would ever say that is not a fair offer. In fact, it is probably significantly higher than he should've expected. If Love hadn't separated his shoulder, TT wouldn't be in the position he is in now. If Love is able to stay healthy this year, TT won't have the same opportunity to put up the type of numbers which command a max salary
  10. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III Move To Chicago To Spotlight Anti-Gun Violence Activists Posted: 10/21/2013 11:46 am EDT Updated: 10/21/2013 2:58 pm EDT Sharpton said along with King, he wants to spotlight the people and the efforts fighting the gun violence epidemic in Chicago. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/21/al-sharpton-chicago_n_4136509.html
  11. Devin Smith was a good deep threat, but not much else. I actually think they miss Evan Spencer's edge blocking more. As a receiver, Michael Thomas is the best we've had in awhile It was frustrating but I'm not worried at all. Lasts year's team had worse performances (VaTech and PSU) but showed up when it mattered. The Tressel championship team also had some very close calls. A win is a win and our win streak means we don't have to worry too much about how we win as far as making the playoff is concerned
  12. Yikes. What are you trying to say about your wife?
  13. ^It was only for the parking garage, not the entire project, as I read it.

I hate people who write in manner that I would describe as 'overly professional.' Write as you would talk, people! Nobody is impressed with your heretofore accordingly inasmuch pursuant thereto babble. It makes you sound like an amateur.

Every piece potentially plays a pivotal role. And don't forget that Mozzy is a free agent next summer. No one knows for sure what the cap will look like next summer, but anything we pay TT this year will be in the luxury tax field..... and probably actually in the realm of the repeater tax, which I am not sure anyone really understands...... but under my very shaky understanding, it would cost something like $12 mill EXTRA next year just to bump him up to what he wants.
  17. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
^Not that simple. If you overpay TT, then Kyrie would want and should get a renegotiated bigger deal next summer. No way those two should be making the same $$. If TT signs the QO, so be it. I don't care what posturing is going on right now, in no way does that guarantee his departure..... nor would his departure destroy any prospects of a championship. TT played great at time in the playoffs and I love his blue collar mentality.... but let's not get carried away here. He's a great 3rd big-man, but will probably never be an All-Star. The Cavs are the least frugal team in the league. They have nothing to prove in terms of willingness to spend. Most teams probably wouldn't even be offering TT the $80mill the Cavs have put on the table (yes, I know some 'reporters' have speculated, based on the speculation of others, that there are teams willing to pay him the max). As for TT not participating in this voluntary pre-training camp training camp, I'd say that is fairly standard practice for anyone involved in contract negotiations.

It did seem like the Jets knew exactly where the run was going, but they were also stacking the box, whiting up their knuckles, and pinning their ears back in every running situation. This all is a result of a complete lack of respect for the passing game. When opposing teams don't have to worry about the pass, they can walk a safety up and let their linebackers shoot the gaps. It doesn't matter how good your OL is, 5 guys can't block 8
  19. The plan was always to play Marshall at WR. That was reported after Braxton made the switch. I hadn't heard about Dontre, but it doesn't surprise me given that the coaches have switched Curtis Samuel from RB to H-back, which I suspect has a lot to do with the prospects of Mike Weber being anointed the heir apparent to Elliot

^Makes sense. Two of their first three opponents are basement dwellers and the other one has serious issues at QB...... all of which could be said about the Browns, of course
  21. He had those concerns no matter whether he stayed at QB or made this move to H-Back. As a QB, and especially given his lack of height, he would be lucky to get picked in the top 3 rounds. He is a virtual lock to be picked in the top 2 rounds if he can prove he can play a skill position, like he did last night. Speaking of getting leveled, did anyone see what Zeke did to that VT defendant on Braxton's spin move run play? Ouch.
  22. It's hard for your blocking schemes to look good against a bear defense with 8 in the box and the CB's in press coverage.
  23. I'm a JTB guy and would've went with him, but I understand the choice. JTB will be back next year and possibly the year after that. It is now or never for Cardale and it is hard to argue against his track record. As for Braxton, wow. I hope a lot of running QBs pay attention to how much money he makes himself by making this switch in his final year of eligibility. Probably gonna wind up being a first round pick if he can keep it up all year. OSU's skill positions are just sick. So much athleticism. So many weapons, it's almost not fair.

^^I don't think Still is better than any of our DE's. If we could get him on the PS, then fine.
  25. And unfortunately, taking spots from the Huntington garage in lieu of building new parking for the Hilton is only going to make those WHD lots more valuable to their squatters.....errrr, owners
