Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
What's everyone's opinion on the best new restaurant to open over the past year? Looking for a place to go this weekend that we haven't been to before. Preferably, a place on the east side, downtown, OC, or Tremont.

Cedar Point
Hts121 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & Entertainment^Eh. Non-story for Cedar Point as far as I'm concerned. Off-duty incident, and a misdemeanor at that. Guy still resigned.

What are your interests? Other than sex, of course. Moving to any new city can be tough once you are out of school and even tougher some might say when your significant other is from that City. She has friends and you don't. Our situation was similar as I moved back here to go to school with my wife (then fiancé). I had all my old neighborhood friends some of whom go back to the 'sandbox days' and met new friends at school while she toiled away at her job supporting me. It really wasn't until we had kids that she built a solid group of friends, outside of people she met through me. Kid functions are indeed a great way for adults to make friends. Most of my wife's local friends were met through school, sports leagues, etc. I suppose volunteering would be one way. But activities are another possibility, such as things like critical mass rides, adult sports leagues, etc. If you love animals, I know the APL is always looking for volunteers and they have lots of them. There is always...... http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,30291.0.html

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I was at Crop on Friday night, as I commented in another thread. It has been open now for several months. "Accent" was the name of the restaurant using the space before Crop. I actually liked Accent better, but Crop is good. Unfortunately, I think Accent got in and failed before Uptown really took off. That was the second time I had been to Crop and it was much busier on Friday than the first time I went. We only went for apps, dessert (for my pregnant wife), and drinks (for me), but the burgers which kept passing by our table looked delicious. We got the pork belly, which didn't come close to comparing to Accent's mouth watering pork belly, the calamari, which was good, and my wife enjoyed her beet salad. The Dynomite place seemed to be doing well. Interesting combo of Burgers and Sushi. A new twist on surf 'n turf I suppose.

I like the site just the way it is. No need for any major transformation. I agree that the loading pictures delay can be a bit annoying. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Hts121 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentIt's assumptions like this that lead to unnecessary tort reform laws, wherein the judgment of juries is substituted by the 'wisdom' of politicians. That's not to say the family will receive nothing if they do indeed sue. CP (via their insurer) would gladly make this go away quietly and give whatever they would be forced to pay anyways in litigation expenses. A nuisance settlement.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
There is a lot which we paid $2 to park in which is off Mayfield Rd (north side of the road), just west of the RR underpass. I am pretty sure the entrance is right between the Triangle Apartments and Abbington Arms. It puts you directly behind Mitchell's and 'ABC the Tavern' You could, of course, always take the Red Line or the Healthline directly there if either is convenient for you.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I flew in Thursday for the weekend and stopped over at Uptown yesterday --checked out the area as well as the new RTA station in Little Italy (more on that, later). I believe it is freshman orientation week at Case so there are a lot of parents/families around the area helping loved ones move in and get acclimated to CWRU... Still, though, even during normal days, this area seems to be growing in popularity and is usually bustling by day and into the evening -- people really seem to love it, and for good reason. Just like with E. 4th Street, the Maron family planned this urban development extremely well, and the proof of its success is obvious... When I was last here earlier this summer, we sat in the window at Panera's at around 1p (parking was scarce and at a premium -- a hassle but a great sign for the neighborhood). My friend commented how all the foot traffic and building density made Uptown feel like it could be in New York or Chicago. Also auto traffic was jammed and at a crawl up Euclid. Love to see that! I accounted for that, seeing a few college age kids with their families, but mostly it was just either a younger crowd or older crowd, not really all that much mixing. It seemed like more families were out together in LI

Cleveland: North Collinwood Vs. Slavic Village
^Me either. Did they just completely shut down or are they taking their operations elsewhere? Some people limit the definition of N Collinwood to the street north of Lakeshore. I myself consider it to be anything north of the Shoreway. Of course north of Lakeshore is preferred, but it is also a lot more expensive and I would think rentals are hard to come by, if that is what the poster is looking for. My recommendation would be to stay east of 152nd, maybe even 156th, although there are some good street between 152nd and 156th the closer you get to Lakeshore.

Cleveland: North Collinwood Vs. Slavic Village
Because I view it as being on the upswing while SV seems like it is still in a downward spiral. Both have potential for sure. SV really got hit hard by the housing crisis. Any reason why you're picking between the two?

Cleveland: North Collinwood Vs. Slavic Village
Another factor in favor of N Collinwood is the potential merger of EC into Cleveland. That will help a struggling nearby area and connect Collinwood better with the rest of the City proper

Uptown was really hopping last night. Never seen it so busy. Every joint had a decent crowd and lots of foot traffic wandering about. Even better, it didn't seem like that had an adverse effect on Littlle Italy which was also very lively

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^If that contingency was agreed to in the deal signed, yes, they increase if the cap rises. However, it is usually more limited. Love, for instance, is not going to get another increase to max level when the cap skyrockets next summer. But the deal he signed this summer before the new cap numbers were released had a stipulation that he would be brought up to max level based on this summer's cap numbers.

Well..... things are not looking any better for Justin Gilbert this camp. Seems like he might be yet another bust for a 1st round pick. On the bright side, rave reviews are coming in for Shelton.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^I am not saying the $80million is not a fair offer, but max money THIS summer is going to seem like a deal compared to what it will be next summer. So if you sign TT long-term for max money this summer, the majority of that contract he won't be playing at a max salary figure. - Cleveland Browns Discussion
