As crazy as it sounds, I think this is the first time SAS has ever successfully lured a big time free agent Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard all drafted by the Spurs

^has to be a leverage thing with TT (for the Cavs) and SAS (for West), right? West is gonna take the MLE (significantly less than what he would get by re-signing with Indiana) for the opportunity to battle it out for the 4th big in the rotation on a team that uses its All-World SF at his position oftentimes in the 4th quarter? I know he's said he wants to play for a championship contender, but that seems extreme. Washington, SAS, and the Clips can all make the same offer and seem like more appealing destinations for West. I'd love to have him. I just don't see it happening Cavs are trying to get TT to crumble on some detail which is holding up the deal and West is trying to make SAS move on from trying to sign Aldridge

    Happy Birthday America!

DeRozan is a pipe dream. He is part of their core and was involved in the recruiting of DeMare Carroll. Not sure where people are getting this info because I have seen his name tossed around a bit. He is not going anywhere. However, Toronto would like to dump some salary so Haywood is a natural consideration. One guy I would be intrigued by is Terrance Ross. Young, athletic, good potential as an outside shooter. Basically, a younger, less mental version of JR Smith. That said, I doubt Toronto, if they were to dump Ross, would want to do it to another EC contender. Crawford I could see as a possible replacement for Smith. The problem with him is that he is a volume shooter. Always has been. He might get disgruntled here. I always like Jack. I thought he played well for us and certainly had a solid year for BK last season. Cap'n Jack! But I'd prefer to see if we can find something better. Honestly, at this point, I think the 'insiders' are just throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what might stick. If we happen to trade for one of those guy, they will re-post their tweet and say "see, I told ya!" If we don't, then they will just forget they said anything about it.

    Delly too.
  6. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
He wants something like 3/23. Cavs might want to see what they get for Haywood before deciding whether they will meet his demands. Just my guess. It's been kinda quiet with JR

Given that Mike Miller elected to renew his courtside seat and assuming Christmas makes the team, I count 10 players. Bringing back Delly and Smith gets us to 12. That leaves three spots to be filled with Haywood's contract, the MLE and/or vet minimum deals

Neither does the tweet you posted from Sam "Arnico"! Look for the check, Ken. Someone is trolling the Miami fanbase Best part so far of this absolutely insane first day of free agency has got to be the Lakers and Knicks fan bases and LA/NY media being relegated to sitting on the sidelines. LMA supposedly has crossed the Lakers off his list already and declined to even meet with the Knicks, Love re-signs in CLE, and Gasol is likely back with MEM. Have fun battling out which team convinces Greg Monroe to accept their max offer 8-) Oh yeah.... the biggest splash Boston could make was Amir Johnson and they had to give him $12mill/year and only locked him up for 2 years. Oh how the mighty have fallen.....

    Welcome home, Norris..... sort of

^^Some indications that Love's numbers are tied to the cap, so they could (will) rise Interesting notation here - the Cavs luxury tax payment alone next year is going to rival, if not eclipse, the Indian's entire payroll. So much for that planned meeting between Love and LAL which ESPN's 'sources' had 'confirmed'

Windy now saying that the Cavs have 'multiple options' on the table right now for Haywood's contract. Sheesh, CavsDan is spending. Not my money, so I love it.

Does the USWNT not have its own thread? How bout we change the title of this thread to make one? Give it up for our gals, folks. They played one helluva game last night in knocking off #1 ranked Germany in the semis of the World Cup. On to the Finals! Oh yeah. If you happen to be reading this, Alex, if things ever don't work out with my wife......

I'd bet Broussard 'source' is from within the Lakers organization. Nicely timed with LAL making a major push to get Aldridge, who they are indeed meeting with tonight, to commit. Cavs probably don't mind as it might help keep LMA out west. To be clear, it wouldn't shock me at all if Love took some meetings. He's never been a free agent before. I've just been burned by bad info from Broussard 'sources' in the past to not wait for someone, anyone to confirm what they say

There is strong mutual interest between Mo Williams and the Cavs. I wouldn't mind having him back.

I went to college in the 90s so I am somewhat between these two eras, but was my experience on each.... 1. I didn't have a desktop until my final year. Before then, I used a 'Brother' word processing machine. 2. I learned to type on a typewriter in HS, but haven't used one since. 3. Disposable cameras were all the rage during my college years. The sound of one manually rewinding brings me back 4. Pretty sure we had a cordless telephone. I did get a cell my last year in school. 5. Yep. Phone books were still in use. 6. 411 was definitely a tool 7. Of course we did pranks (penny locking doors, putting the pitcher of water on top of the door, garbage cans full of water tipped against the door). I'm sure kids still do. 8/9. Video stores and VHS tapes were still a thing, although we'd rather spend our money on beer and DVDs came into play right around that time 10/11. What's a library? Encyclopedia? 12. Stopped going to the arcade when I was 12 13. Stopped eating at the dining hall after my freshman year 14. Thank god for cable. We had it 15. Sniffing exams? Weird

Or they were just hanging out and all this 'buzz' about them not being friends is a bunch of BS. Trying to figure out who is with them is an interesting game. I think I see Mike Mancia and Damon Jones, but no idea who the rest of the cabana crowd is....
  22. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
^^depends on what you qualify as buzz, but I've seen those two names mentioned as potential targets for Haywood's contract, but this morning was the first mention I've heard of Reddick. I like JJ, but a backcourt of him and Kyrie would be worrisome on the defensive end
  23. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
I would rather have Wesley Matthews or Wilson Chandler. Better defenders

I am not opposed to an upgrade. I just don't think Tyus would've been an upgrade. I have some serious doubts about his ability to play at a high level in the NBA and think he will particularly struggle on the defensive end. Also, keep in mind that we are in 'win now' mode and this is a kid who just finished his freshman year of college.
