If we ran a traditional PG oriented offense, I might agree. But we don't. With LBJ on your team, it changes the dynamic of a traditional roster and Delly is a good fit as a, better put, 4th guard. With everyone healthy, I don't know that Delly plays significant minutes in the Finals. But on the other hand, it was hard to argue the success the Cavs had on the floor with him out there. I believe there were more than a few playoff games where he had very good +/- numbers. I'd admit he can be a liability on offense at times, but..... again, given our make-up, we can afford a liability on offense more than we can afford a liability on defense. Suppose we kept Jones and got rid of Delly...... who are we gonna throw out there when an opposing PG is giving us fits? Maybe Shump, but even he was getting abused at times and is prone to injury to boot.

He IS the backup PG. He doesn't need to be anointed to anything.

A "proven commodity" with a career 9.6 PER? I won't speak to Tyus Jones specifically, but recent history has shown that it's quite possible to find someone who can play at least at the level that Delly has over his short career. At this point it would almost be worth the bust gamble to see if you can find someone that can boom at #24. And in the short term, considering what the #24 pick has made in recent years, it wouldn't cost all that much more than Delly does. How does PER measure diving on the floor for loose balls and being a gnat to the point of getting key opposing players kicked out of the game?

The chances of the #24 pick being better than a proven commodity are fairly slim. Certainly not out of the question that Jones is better, but I'd rather play it safe and stick with Delly. The guaranteed money to the first round pick places a cap hold, too, right?

^But with the luxury and (potentially) repeater taxes, it actually would've been closer to $5mill

In the days leading up to the draft, it became quite clear that the Lakers liked Russell more than Okafur. Some people thought it was a smokescreen for Philly given that they already have Noel and Embiid and would be in a tough spot to add yet another big man Top 3 pick, but it turned out the Lakers really did like him better

If we intended to keep the first round pick, and I totally understand why we didn't want to, I would've liked to have picked RJ Hunter. He is the type of swing for the fences pick you take in the late first round. Tyus Jones just doesn't seem athletic enough to be a good NBA player. I'd guess that Jerrod Bayless is his 'ceiling'. From what I've seen of this Osman guy (first name pronounced "Chetti"), he seems like a great prospect. He's young, long and athletic. High motor too. In a few years, he could have a real impact. Our second pick, Christmas, will be very old for a rookie and didn't really do anything at 'Cuse until his senior year. Still, I saw several mock drafts which had him going in the 1st round. Ceiling of Taj Gibson in my estimation, although it is unlikely he turns out to be more than an end of the rotation guy. The third pick, Pointer, probably won't make the team. Most importantly is that second round picks are not guaranteed money. Keeping our first rounder would have cost Gilbert quite a bit more money than the slotted salary due to us inevitably being in the luxury tax

I'm thinking that unless there is a prospect who they really like at #24, the Cavs will trade that pick. It could be in a deal with the Haywood contract or it could be simply for a future first rounder. The problem with making the pick is tying up money which can't be used in free agency. On another note, I love the troll job DWade is doing to Miami. He's not coming here (we can't pay him), but Riley must have really pissed him off. First his father is photographed wearing a Cavs shirt and then when as soon as a random twitter user posts a mock-up of Wade in a Cavs jersey, Wade himself follows the guy.
  10. I heard that the Food Network was supposed to be at Hodge's yesterday. Not sure which show.

I think a lot of people with digestive issues don't realize how much ensuring a sufficient amount of fiber is in your diet can help. Of course, it doesn't cure the various forms of IBD..... I am more talking about people who simply have problems digesting certain foods and constantly deal with constipation, bloating, etc.

I would say Cleveland still qualifies as the Forest City. From atop the buildings downtown, pretty much all you see is a giant carpet of green in any direction.

So are you saying if you take probiotics, which I do, that the acid reducer is not necessary? One less pill a day would be nice. I take three.... the acid reducer, the probiotic, and a muti-vitamin. I agree that the acid reducer gets you in a cycle and your body becomes dependent on it. I just started taking probiotics this year and haven't tried cutting out the AR

I sometimes take priolosic (or the generic equivalent) for unrelated issues of acid reflux my morning coffee gives me. But as for cutting out most dairy, honestly, my digestion has never been better than it is now. The lactose thing, as I stated in the other thread, started out very mildly. Most of my issues came from eating melted cheese. After thinking about it, I decided to just cut out dairy completely..... at least those dairy products which contain lactose (which I've spent the past 15 or so years getting better at identifying). After all, what other mammal eats dairy once they are done growing? It is unnecessary and was the source of many of my eating vices. I wasn't getting much of a benefit from it and, by cutting it out, all that meant for me was no more Pappa John's Pizzas when I was drunk or a trip to Cookout (down South thing) for a milkshake when the bar closed. No more cheesecake, DQ blizzards, Boston Cream Pie, Nachos Supreme, or about any of those calorie count busters on an Italian or Mexican menu. Definitely no Indian food (which is much more unhealthy than most people seem to realize). I get my calcium and protein now from other sources. And there are plenty of dairy substitutes, so when the wife makes homemade pizza for the kids and myself, sometimes she will use a vegan cheese on mine or other times I'm just in the mood for a red pizza with extra toppings. I use almond or soy milk for my cereal and protein shakes, which both also work just fine when an ingredient calls for milk. Yogurt substitutes are also available. Another thing I never knew but learned a few years ago due to my wife's obsession with the food network is that a lot of fried food uses milk as a component of the breading. So no more KFC, onion rings, etc. I do still sneak in the calamari, zucchini sticks and other breaded fried foods on occasion without much issue. Have you ever looked at menu items and the affect on the calorie count once you add cheese or mayo or pretty much anything else which would include lactose? It's eye opening. I could take lactaid or use other methods, but I just prefer not to eat it. I'm healthier, fitter, and happier without it in my diet. In other words, it's not a problem I am looking to fix. I don't have IBD. I just don't eat most dairy like a vegetarian doesn't eat meat. It's a choice for what I find for myself to be a healthier lifestyle.
  16. I developed a slight intolerance to lactose in my early twenties and, instead of taking medication, just completely cut it out of my diet...... which did wonders for my health (no more pizza, cheesecake, mozzarella sticks, etc). Since it has been out of my diet for well over a decade, my intolerance is now fairly severe and I can't eat ice cream at all..... even frozen yogurt will make my stomach sour. However, I do LOVE Mitchell's because it's vegan options blow anything else I've tried out of the water. I've actually never tried Mitchell's "ice cream"
  17. The timing might have been in poor taste, but depending on the circumstances, it might've been a potential factor and worthy of at least some discussion

Timo is worth more than $5m and will get more than that once his current deal expires. Andy's contract is going to look like a bargain deal once the new CBA is negotiated. That's why I say you can go ahead and give Tristan near max money this summer. Max contracts are projected to increase by upwards of 50% next summer.
  20. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
You don't have to 'rely' on Andy. But he is a great piece to have and you can take some steps to decrease his workload, which I think has already been done with the addition of Timo. His minutes will be limited and he will be back in his bench role, where he is most effective. If he is there for the playoffs, great. We would be four deep in the big man department, which might in fact be more than we need for a playoff run. He is already signed to an extension, so he will be on the roster. Quality NBA big men don't grow on trees. His ability to knock down that mid-range shot pulls his man out of the paint and, consequently, opens up the driving lanes. Part of winning an NBA championship is luck. GS had it this year, going into the Finals with a fully healthy roster even though it had several key pieces which you can't 'rely' on year in and year out.

Great season. Proud of our team. They gave it everything they had. No shame in that. People mention the absence of Kyrie and KLove in this series, and clearly both would've helped (anybody still think we are better without KLove?), but I never heard anything about Andy. He would have been a perfect counter to that small lineup GS took control of the series with. Hopefully him coming off the bench next year will help him stay healthy.

^After the Game 3 win, there was the possibility that Game 6 would be a close out game for us. Now it can't. That might partially explain the drop in prices.

^^Shump is hurt (banged up the same shoulder he dislocated earlier this year), but we have no other options, so he has to play. Don't get me wrong, Golden State is a great team, but I don't ever recall a path to the championship setting up the way it has for them. They have faced Memphis, Houston, and the Cavs with their opponents down at least two starters for the entire, or significant parts, of the series.
  24. Hts121 replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
Exactly where I thought we would be when the series began..... when I wasn't being an overly optimistic homer. A must win game 6 at home for the chance to win a game 7 on their floor.
  25. Just wait for it. There are several examples of joint fire districts..... especially amongst the smaller cities, village and townships. There are sections of the revised code addressing the same. It is the scale of this which would be unprecedented.
