  1. ^Right, but this would not simply be a mutual aid agreement or sharing of special services. It would be a total consolidation of fire departments, something much more radical in terms of the steps towards regionalization.
  2. There is some momentum towards a large joint fire district amongst several of the westside suburbs.

The extra day off should help. It looked as if neither LeBron nor Delly ever fully recovered from the dehydration and cramping suffered after Game 3. We are still waiting on that JR Swishness game and, agreeing with the comment upthread, I'm glad it didn't happen in the loss last night. It's been no secret that the Cavs are going to make the other players, not named Curry and Thompson, beat them. They have no choice but to give Iggy good looks and if he is knocking them down as he did last night it will be a tough game for us. But Iggy doing that for more than one game would be out of character. We should take a good hard look at what worked when we made our runs last night and build off that.

This game does not determine the outcome. It either puts GSW in a really bad spot or restarts the series. Either way, enjoy the moment, folks.

There's a few ways to look at it. (1) We have to get two more wins against the (presumably) best team in the league. Sounds tough. (2) Golden State needs to win 3 of the next 4 against this scrappy bunch led by the best player on the planet. Good luck with that. I'm certainly not comfortable at all. But I'm trying my best to enjoy the ride. And one helluva ride it has been.
  6. I think t has less to do with pay and benefits and more to do with taking dispatch out of civil service. The current City administration has a disdain for civil service. They want the ability to hire and fire who they please and as they please. Civilianization is the best way to allow them to achieve some of their goals, including the hiring of city residents who would never score high enough on a civil service test to merit consideration. I would think this is an issue you particularly would be up in arms about.
  7. ^^very hard to tell from the video whether he looked like a kid. The quality is too poor. But you can certainly be that size and still look like a kid, which he was. The mannerisms he shows in the video certainly seem like a kid, which is why the caller suspected he was a juvenile. Regardless, I think the approach tactics of the police is one thing which caused this tragedy. If in fact flawed, that's not criminal IMO, but certainly cause for concern and a legitimate teaching point. There was no apparent clear and present danger. If for nothing else tan their own safety, cops don't just roll up on armed suspects like that. It created a situation in which split second decisions were made. ^I think trained police officers should be doing police dispatch...... just like trained firefighters do fire dispatch. Every time the spotlight is put on a 911 call fo Cleveland, it does not look good. Listen again to the call when Charles Ramsey called about Castro house. Listen to this call.

Word is that Delly just needed an IV of crocodile blood Shump needed some assistance removing the aspirin he taped to his shoulder
  9. I know nothing about this 'obscure law' but typically you don't get to pick your judge. Judges are randomly assigned. The video quality is not very good. The only thing that is clear is that Tamir has the pellet gun in his waistband as the police are approaching. He reaches for his waistband as the squad car pulls up and then he is gunned down. So, assuming the cops were on their PA telling him to drop the weapon, that action of reaching for the waistband would be a necessary step in complying with that order, no? It would seem a better defense would be offered if they were not on the PA. This is one case where I think the public opinion is not so split. Most everyone I have talked to thinks the shooting was unjustified. But, just as with the other cases around the country, whether it rises to the level of criminal conduct is a matter of debate. One thing for certain is the shooter will never work as a cop again. But what I think is overlooked here is the neglect of the dispatcher. The City's use of civilian dispatchers needs to be seriously looked at. It is causing problems consistently. The 911 call was not communicated properly to the responding officers..... most notably that this was a kid.
  10. ^I don't understand this, unless they know something the general public does not. McGinty seems to be very willing to take use of force cases to trial.
  11. Cleveland's two largest employers are hospitals. CCF is the second largest employer in the state last time I checked, behind only WalMart. UH was also in the top 10 in the state. Both combined account for about $60,000 employees and many of those jobs are well-paid jobs, as opposed to other Top 10 employers such as Kroger, Giant Eagle and WalMart. What happened to Lubrizol and Cliffs? I assume they are still somewhere in the Fortune 1000, near the 500 mark. How about Timken?

Losing Kyrie can never be a good thing but I'm honestly more worried about our lack of front court depth in the rotation at this point. GS is playing four Bigs. We have two in our rotation and both start. Speights got healthy just in the nick of time for GS and he played a big part in game 1 getting GS back in the game

^You ARE insane if you think there is some pattern which will inevitably play out. Same thoughts here, and one tactical question that sticks in my mind again is why LeBron waited so long before starting his play; while I'm sure he thought he could make the shot, we've been one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the playoffs and even if he took his shot with 4 seconds left and they got the rebound, we're tough on defense and a 4-second coast-to-coast is tough even for a team with the NBA's most lethal sharpshooter. If LeBron had taken the exact same shot 1 second earlier (and again, he held the ball out near midcourt for a time before moving into his play), Shump could have taken another heartbeat after the offensive board to square up. I disagree. I think it was the right choice to either win it or go to OT..... especially on the road. You can't give these Warriors a chance to ice you at the buzzer.

Yeah..... the game winner against Chicago was a 22 foot fade away. I'm fine with winning or losing with LeBron. And I really don't get all the criticism of isolation basketball. It got us here. We have two of the best, if not THE best, isolation players in the league. Play to your strength. But, I can't lie, that Shump shot/put-back at the end of regulation which was an INCH short of going in is going to haunt me the next few days. We win it there and we don't go to OT and Kyrie doesn't go down again.

I'm honestly more worried about his on-field issues than his off-field issues at this point. He hasn't exactly drawn rave reviews for his body of work at OTA's. The water bottle thing probably wouldn't have made the news if it wasn't Johnny and stuff like that happens. By all accounts, the 'fan' was being a real A-hole and wouldn't let up. So, with that said, I'm not all that concerned that he threw the water bottle...... I'm concerned that he missed.
