A big part of winning the GOP primary will be securing the funding from the major donors or a single super wealthy donor. I think Kasich can do that. He doesn't really care about social issues (at least not in the way other major GOP contenders do) so that gives him a leg up should he be picked as the nominee, although it might seriously hurt his chances of surviving the primary. He won't win Iowa, NH, or South Carolina. Maybe NH, but definitely not the other two early ones. But he could make a late surge if the primary goes anything like in 2012 where it was a game of hot potato with virtually every contender taking a lead in the polls at some point in the race.
  4. ^and the Time! Reminds me of a time when a friend who lived in Lakewood came over to play at my house when we were probably about 8 or 9. He was shocked to see so many black kids playing outside on the street and I was genuinely shocked that it shocked him. One of those childhood memories which imprinted on me.
  5. "Domestic incident"..... I certainly hope this isn't another incident of a kid playing around with dad's gun.

Empty factories do not create more work for basic services like snow clearing, for which someone was sacked last week for under performance of duties and not following procedure. Snow plowing is not a good example for the purposes of your point. The roads are still just as heavily used, if not more so, despite any drop in population. And, wasn't it just the other week the city's road clearing abilities proved to be somewhat deficient?

I agree with many of your points. But I think the efforts of those who are not personally affected by a homicide in response to any given homicide is almost always in response to some perceived injustice being carried out by the government or judicial system..... The failure to arrest, charge, prosecute, and/or punish the offender, whether it be a police officer (Wilson) or a private citizen (Zimmerman). Protests are almost always in response to systematic issues, not concerns with the actions of single individuals. As for the lack of any 'national outrage' over black on black crime, that's evryones fault if it is indeed lacking. I would however argue that the outrage over such crime is much louder than outrage over crime in general

^Sometimes a lack of residents can actually increase the need for manpower. Empty houses, buildings, and factories create work more than they eliminate work. Nevertheless, the City has seen downsizing, sometimes quite significant. Jackson has maintained a balanced budget, despite the massive cuts to state aid. But, regardless, when exactly was it when our government was working for residents?

^I agree that the anger over black on black crime is there, but doesn't get much play in the media. The common meme of "Where's Jesse? Where's Al?" always seems to ignore the multiple rallies/marches/etc. against crime in the inner city which never get any play. The point I think Morris' opinion misses is that, when a black guy is killed by another black guy, there is no rushing to the defense of the shooter...... there is no hesitancy to prosecute...... there is no sense that justice won't be served so long as the suspect is identified and caught. There certainly are not any rallies or fundraising efforts in support of the shooter. There never is any debate over whether the killing was justified.

When you are acting under the color of the law, it is absolutely wrong to judge a book by its cover....... so long as the 'cover' you are referencing is some suspect classification such as race, age, gender, etc. So says the U.S. Constitution.

Kendrick Perkins and Javale McGee are two BIGS traded today who might be bought out. Perkins seems almost certain to not stay in Utah and Cavs are reportedly going to make a push to sign him. IMO he is the exact type of bruiser we need even if he isn't at the same level he once was. Practice between him and Timo could get interesting. Those two were really going at it in a recent game. Bulls and Clips are also interested

^Ronayne, perhaps. But not the other two. Jackson is not that "personalbe"..... in fact, he doesn't have much of a personality at all. But he seems to be a good fit for this City at this time.

Cavs ended up staying with what they have. Smart move IMO. There has been plenty of roster changes and there will be plenty of opportunity to sign someone off the street in the next month or so when the Chinese league comes to the end of its season and teams start buying out players currently on their roster. There was, however, a serious flurry of activity at the deadline. Dragic to Miami was the big one (Miami did well to get him). KG back to Minny (who saw that coming?) for Thad Young. Reggie Jackson to Detroit. Kanter to OKC, Brandon Knight to Suns. Michael Carter-Williams to Bucks, Tayshaun Prince back to Detroit, Isaiah Thomas to Boston, KJ McDaniels to Houston, Norris Cole to New Orleans were among a few of the highlights.

It's odd how the really cold days often have clear(er) skies. I wonder if an overcast might somehow hold in some of the heat.

Yes, Haywood's contract is more valuable in the summer if you want to trade him for a player making a ton of money. However, with our recent acquisitions of Mozgov, Smith, and Shumpert, it is my understanding we are now limited in our ability to make such a move. But there could be another team which doesn't have cap room this summer and would want to obtain him now to use his contract creatively over the summer to add a near-max player through a sign-and-trade. One name to keep an eye on is Jason Smith of the Knicks. He is a serviceable back up big man who NYK might want to dump to get under the luxury tax threshold. With the buyout of Amare's contract, a straight up deal of Haywood for Smith would get them closer to the threshold. Then the Knicks could use Haywood's contract this summer in a trade. I imagine the Cavs know how much the Knicks would love to make a deal like that and might want something to sweeten the pot.

During last year's polar vortex, we reached a 'feel' of -37. I bundled up and stood outside for 5-10 minutes just to experience what it is like to be in the north pole.

Trade deadline is today. Cavs are not expected to be active players, but that could certainly change. If we make a move, I'd expect Haywood and his uniquely valuable contract to be dealt. Ironically, several bigs and PGs are rumored to be available...... most of which are probably out of our price range, but you never know.

^What's highly unlikely? We didn't have brown facemasks before. The only thing guaranteed not to change with the helmet is that there won't be a logo put on it. I do expect the color scheme to be tweaked, although not dramatically. Most likely to me is more of a burnt orange. Next most likely IMO is incorporating some grey into the stripe.
