^Haywood is the trade piece most likely to be used to obtain a backup PG, I believe. I read something, but can't remember exactly, that we won't be able to use his contract this offseason in the way originally envisioned due to these latest additions and the effect they have on our salary flexibility. Therefore, his greatest value would be now, giving him to another team that can trade him over the summer for something of worth. I don't understand that quote. Dion led us in FGA in plenty of games. And watching him in OKC, he seems to be playing the role of stand in the corner guy and wait for the pass. He doesn't seem to be handling the ball all that much. I doubt his FGAs have significantly increased, if at all.

I wonder if the positive test for alcohol violated any probation he was placed on by the court following his DUI arrest.

I really think Dion should have been groomed as a PG. He just does not have the verticality to be a dynamic SG in the NBA. Too late now. If he ever goes to a losing team and is made the focal point of the offense, he could average 20+ppg. On a winning team, he has to accept his role as a sparkplug off the bench. Not sure he will ever truly accept that role.

Nah.... that was swept under the rug rather quickly. Nobody really cared, especially after the clarification. I'm sure a few knuckleheads/morons held some type of gripe..... but no larger than the crowd who thinks the President is/was a muslim.... thankfully a very small minority here in NEO, at least amongst those who would actually attend an NBA game (which eliminates probably 99% of that already small group)

Well.... it's the same league that fined Marshawn Lynch for his crotch grab and now is selling prints of the photo.

Cavs fans seem to boo every former player, no matter the circumstances of their departure, for whatever reason. The exception I can think of was Z. My guess is that, with Dion, there just weren't any cheers to drown out the scattered boos. He was a lightning rod, and a lot of fans did not like him.

How long was he required to stay off the booze? There never really was much clarity about what happened in regards to his DUI arrest.

Now that was a whoopin'!!! Good to see Shump so productive in limited playing time coming off injury

To be clear, Dion is a very athletic guy. But Smith seems to have an edge in that department, especially with his elevation and strength. Plus, he is a few inches taller. Dion always seemed to come up short by just a hair. It certainly didn't help that his game depended on drawing contact and the refs swallowed their whistle every time he took it to the hole. As for a veteran back up PG, I am keeping my eye on Will Bynum, who is currently killing it over in China. He is a bit short, but strong as an Ox. Not sure how much of an upgrade he would be over Delly overall, but offensively he would certainly be a notch above. He is particularly good at throwing the lob pass.
  10. I hope Spence can salvage his career. I don't know what EKU plays, but it was a smart move if they run anything similar to a 3-4 so he can get some reps at OLB. Spence's future in the NFL is probably not as a hands in the dirt pass rusher. He does not have the bulk to hold up at the point of attack in the pros IMHO. With Spence now gone, and Miller and Frazier graduating, that weak side DE spot opposite Bosa has me a bit concerned. There's potential in some recent recruits, but nobody I would consider in the class of Spence or Bosa.

I think Shump is a lock to start. Smith is one of the few players in the league who actually relishes the chance to be that scorer off the bench. He probably realizes that the biggest award he will ever receive is 6th Man of the Year, which he won two years ago. And our bench bunch definitely needs a scoring boost. What Shump does for our starting lineup is give us a guy who can guard either the 1, 2, or 3...... whichever player is giving us the most trouble. He will take the burden of some really tough matchups so that Kyrie and LeBron don't get run ragged on defense. I'm really impressed with Timo. If he keeps this up, there is no doubt he was well worth the price tag. That said, I hope Blatt doesn't play him 40 minutes per night, like he did last night.
  12. And yet the driver probably had no idea, not even the slightest clue, who the Palladinos are/were. And people who jump in cars and take off are not likely to be aware of who the higher ups in the underground crime scene are here in Cleveland.... to the extent there is still even one to be frightened by.

Well.... we have a new OC. John DeFillippo, most recently the QB coach for the Raiders. Now the question is how many candidates declined to interview before they picked 'their guy'

It was out here in Cleveland, at least from what I could tell, since the mid-90s. NEO might follow the East Coast trends more closely than the rest of the state, for better or worse.

Are the hipsters responsible for bringing flannel shirts back into style? If so, I appreciate the efforts.
  16. It does. It is just the randomness of the balconies which distorts the edges
  17. Well that would fit the stereotypes, wouldn't it? I mean, a Cayenne.... the girl's daddy must be 'scary.' How about the idea that the woman jumped in the car real quick intending to steal it and realized that there was a child in the back seat. Realizing that she could get kidnapping charges on top of GTA, she panicked and bolted. But, you're probably right.... the SO must've tweeted at her with some line from one of the Taken movies.
  18. Like I've said before, Braxton is not an NFL QB. He needs to avoid the same mistake so many great athletes have made..... Terrell Pryor, Eric Crouch, etc...... of not realizing that before his college career is done. It is very hard to transition to a new position once you are in the NFL, like Crouch tried to do, especially if you are a QB. It works every now and then, a la Randle El and maybe Denard Robinson (who was really nothing more than a RB who took the snap in college), but is rare. And it is becoming more and more of a common tragedy the more college programs are using the QB position in a non pro-style offense.
  19. What a mess for the NFL. The league didn't need this gong into the SB..... especially after all the bad publicity it has received this year.
  20. It is confirmed that he is enrolled in Spring classes. Not sure that means he is staying. Just a guess, but he might not be able to transfer (and not lose a year of eligiblity) until he graduates from OSU. I, for one, think he is staying.

A motivated JR Smith can be a very dangerous weapon. He had let NYC get to his head and stopped focusing on basketball. For those wondering about his Cleveland comments, you have to understand that this is a guy who has a NY tattoo on his neck. He was all about being a Knick and living in the Big Apple. Hopefully he realizes that his status in NY or anywhere is bigger when he is part of a winning basketball team, regardless of where they play.
  22. ^Because it probably was just a joy ride. You actually think they stole the car and then decided that the "car owner (or her SO) is way scarier than the police"? That doesn't make sense.
  23. $85 for a pair of jeans?!? Wait.... I'm starting to sound like my dad

I agree that we needed some attitude. Ironically, to get it, we had to trade the one guy who probably had the most attitude on this team. I just think teams were not intimidated at all by us...... not saying that is essential as no one has ever been intimidated by San Antonio and their track record speaks for itself.
