  1. How good is Zeke Elliot? Everyone keeps talking about Cardale, but Elliot was the horse we rode to that championship. 220yds in the B10 Championship Game, 230 yds in the Sugar Bowl, and 245 yds in the NC game. He kept Oregon's offense off the field so they couldn't get their rhythm which also kept our defense fresh. His running opened up the passing game and put the Ducks defense on its heels. He's a beast. So long as they keep at it during the offseason, the Bucks are going to be even more of a load to handle next year. We need to find a good replacement for Bennett..... that is probably our biggest loss along with Doran Grant at CB. Heurman too I suppose..... but hopefully we can finally get the talented Marcus Baugh on the field. We lose Baldwin on the O-line but he was just barely a starter anyways. McMillan taking Grant's spot at MLB full-time will be a huge upgrade.
  2. I think there was also some angst about how 200 PS blocked the view of the Terminal Tower on the inbound east shoreway.
  3. All my childhood memories of Richmond Mall are pretty much limited to the movie theatre which had only like 3 screens, the arcade (Fun'n'Games?), and that Burger King (pre-food court). Oh yeah.... my friend worked at the pizza place (Scotty's?). Hilltop Plaza was never the same after Yan-Yans and Kiddie City pulled out.
  4. If only architects around the world could come up with something other than the two options of (1) this and (2) tan and beige...... but then what would we have to debate on here.
  5. I agree that OSU is in somewhat of a can't lose scenario. Beating an SEC team, Alabama no less, in a game of such magnitude makes the season a success. If they lose tonight, there won't be one evaluation which could omit the fact we are playing our 3rd string QB. We are loaded for next year, with nearly every key piece to the puzzle having no choice but to return given the NFL's draft eligibility rules and other factors. The only thing that would really be a let down is if they are not competitive a la the NC games against Florida and LSU.
  6. Who said it was not up to the proper standards of urbanism or not good enough for Cleveland? Maybe some isolated comment, but I think the majority of any negative comments have been limited to the design of the tower...... not from a functionality standpoint. I love the plans for how it will interact with the street.
  7. Nobody is complaining about the ground level effect or the fact that it will fill a parking lot. Some, including myself, don't care for the design of the tower. It's a subjective opinion. The height of the building, or the fact that the design is 'modern', does not insulate it from criticism, right? I have followed this board for well over 5 years and every design gets its fair share of critics on here, and I'm usually the one defending the design. But, for whatever reason, if it is tall enough, then we fall all over ourselves and can't say a negative word about it. To me, it should be the other way around.... the more the building is going to stand out for its aesthetic purposes, the more its design should be put under a microscope.
  8. I don't care so much about homage to the TT. Any sense of homage the City owed to its iconic tower was pretty much thrown out the window with 200 PS and Key Tower IMO. I do feel that, at least on here, the design is getting a pass due to the proposed height of the tower. This board tends to trend toward being collectively critical of about every rendering/design put out there..... harsh and nitpicky to an extreme IMO sometimes. But if a supertall is proposed, then we get all googly eyed. In a cluster of residential towers, I'd think this would be an appealing design. As a stand alone, somewhat separated element of the skyline, I don't like it. Charlotte has something similar and it stands out in a bad way IMO.
  9. We went last night. I probably would've felt overdressed in a suit. I'd say about half the guys there had jeans on. Only saw one guy with a suit and tie. Was a little surprised by how many kids were dining. Very nice place and great food. Complimentary champagne to celebrate their 50th anniversary and you get to keep the flutes

Bluestone would probably do decent on walkscore. Not the ideal type of walkability, but it is still walkable..... To the extent you define walkability as amenities within 1 mile
  11. forget about the Ferarri dealership. Not happening. Never was
  12. I assumed some type of paneling was going to be put over the concrete, but looking at the renderings.... maybe not.
  13. ^Right..... US's Macy's is much better. I'm not a Macy's fan, but my Mother-In-Law gets me crap from Macy's every Christmas, half of which (at least) I end up returning. I went to the Richmond store first and their selection didn't compare. The mall itself is not in bad shape. It's always clean in there and there aren't a ton of vacancies. It certainly does not have anywhere near the foot traffic that Beachwood has, which you can view as a good thing if you just wanted to pop in and out.
  14. I think I've identified the "inspiration" for this design.... On a serious note, my initial reaction is skepticism. Nobody around here aims higher and bigger than Stark. We saw that with Pescht, which I'm not sure would've been fully built even without the market crash. My other thought was that I don't care for the height in this location. I would actually prefer more equality between the two towers, taking 10-15 floors off the taller one and adding them to the smaller tower. JMHO.
  15. What would the range be for appropriate attire at Pier W?

Nate Wolters was waived by the Bucks to make room for Kenyon Martin. I was surprised by that. Wolters is a decent combo-guard off the bench. He could compete for Delly's minutes. I'm not sure he will clear waivers.

We've had several discussions on here about the housing stock of some suburbs (not just the inner ring suburbs) and the effect its aging has on the socio-economic demographics of those suburbs. What is going to be really troubling is when the same inevitable results hit the McMansion clusters built during the housing bubble. I own what is far from a architecturally appealing house, but at least it was built with solid materials and is very efficient. These newer builds, with cheaper materials and, perhaps most troubling, not properly aged wood are going to be dumps sooner rather than later.

Loggins seemed like a tool. Not sad to see him go. Shanahan's system looked great at time and awful at times. Kind of hard to judge based on the injuries to Mack and others, the suspension of Gordon, and the holes on the roster. If reports are true, there was a major fracture in the relationship between Shanahan and the front office.
  19. The issues with Rotsky and discipline perhaps were evident at MH, but not at CH. His teams played hard for him. What C17 is right about the barriers to success in D1 vs. any other division. MH never had to go through St. Eds to win the state title. CH was one QB sack away from taking down Ed's a few year's back. They were somewhat cheated out of the playoffs another year when they might have had their most talented roster. He didn't chase away any players. In fact, he brought several in to the program and school system.

LOL, I'm not sure I've ever seen a player worse than Dellavedova in the NBA, let alone get this much PT. He's a small, slow shooting guard that can't shoot. But, hey, he hustles at least! I think Delly has to be used in spurts..... much like we did with Andy early in his career. He is a pest on defense. In fact, I think his defense on Harden for the first 3 quarters last night is one reason the Rockets couldn't pull away. But when he is overused, playing starter's minutes, he can't keep it up through the fourth. His current shooting struggles are more mental I think than a measure of his ability.

Or it's just the same design playground. Kalihari has something very similar if that is not it.... Looking at it again, Kalihari's might actually be a bit taller.

I don't think anyone would go downtown just to go to a playground...... but it would be a nice addition to enjoy while families are down there for something else. Perhaps a good "split the baby" solution would be to build something more traditional near the residences and something more iconic/elaborate by the science center. There could even be some incorporation of science into the playground, much like they have in the science center on the upper floor.
